### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2023-01-12, version 14.0.0002*

This app is only for UPMC employees!

### 1/5 — Subpar

*2023-01-08, version 14.0.0002*

This app is ridiculous to sing into. First of all what is the employee ID ?? I am a consumer. Figured it out then created password and name and it lost my info somehow between screens. Now I have to wait to call customer service to continue this awful designed app

### 1/5 — Employee number ?

*2023-01-08, version 14.0.0002*

? What is the deal with employees number. Can’t register fix the app or delete it.
Absolutely junk.

### 1/5 — Eat right app

*2023-01-07, version 14.0.0002*

Honestly it’s a hard app to understand especially if you can’t remember username.maybe if you made this app easier to understand on how to use without having to sign every time.it’s a super frustrating app to try n understand or figure out how to understand..no wonder why so many have given your app a 1 star rating..

### 1/5 — Employee ID

*2023-01-07, version 14.0.0002*

Don’t have it. 🤷‍♀️

### 1/5 — Entirely unusable

*2023-01-07, version 14.0.0002*

The instructions with my Medicare Flex Card state “download the UPMC Medicare Flex app and scan products … to see if they’re covered.” I downloaded this app and can’t sign up to use it because it *requires* an employee ID. I’m retired, and not from UPMC; therefore, I have no such ID. I removed the app from my phone.

### 1/5 — Flex app

*2023-01-06, version 14.0.0001*

This app is not helpful at all - asks for employee Id , I’m a member not an employee- can’t use this useless app ! UPMC fix this mess plz !

### 1/5 — Please fix this UPMC

*2023-01-05, version 14.0.0001*

The OTC app worked fine. This app is awful. It took me days to figure out how to sign in and then it doesn’t scan for me. This needs to be addressed ASAP.

### 1/5 — App not working

*2023-01-04, version 14.0.0001*

I downloaded the app and couldn’t get it to access my account. It keeps asking for employee identification number. I’ve never worked for UPMC. Please fix this issue!

### 1/5 — Impossible to sign in.

*2023-01-03, version 14.0.0001*

Needs fixed. Does not work.

### 1/5 — Amber

*2023-01-02, version 14.0.0001*

Tried to down load the app to see be able to scan products to see if they are covered by my Flex card go to the bottom of the information and asked for my employee ID I don’t have one been retired for years so it wouldn’t let me go any further UPMC better get this fixed!!!

### 1/5 — Upmc flex app

*2023-01-02, version 14.0.0001*

To get your correct username you need to login on a computer and then find the link to the flex card. Here it will tell you what username to use. Here is the path: upmchealthplan.com/members. Sign in or register. Once you are able to access myhealthonline click on the menu > your insurance > upmc for life flex spend account. Now click on the upmc for life flex spend care portal > accounts > profile summary to get the correct username to log into your cell phone app. Good luck! This is poorly designed.

### 1/5 — Log on

*2023-01-02, version 14.0.0001*

I could not long on. Asks for employee ID. I’m not employed. I tried using my member ID did not work. Guess I call upmc after the holiday.

### 1/5 — UPMC Medicare Flex App

*2023-01-01, version 14.0.0001*

Can’t even sign in. What is my “Employee ID” number?? What credentials are to be used for username and password? Definitely needs some work.

### 1/5 — Can tell the app is new

*2022-12-30, version 14.0.0001*

The screen to establish an account requires an employee ID. I was successful by using my member ID. The screen to scan an item lacks a button to scan the item but the enter code manually goes to another screen that presents the scan option.

The delivery of the app appears to have been rushed.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Forget it

*2023-08-19*

You would think a “top rated” hospital would be able to have a first class app!
The majority of us are retired & have no employee ID
We appreciate the card but not shopping & finding out at ck out that items are not covered.
Frustrating to us, the cashier & people in line.
This should be a simple application to use & sign into.
UPMC ….. you have the money & people to fix this.

### 1/5 — Can’t reset login credentials

*2023-08-06*

This app is awful. I need to reset my user name and password. The page to do this asks for an employee ID number as a required field. Since I’m not an employee, I tried entering my insurance ID number but it wasn’t accepted. There’s no way to bypass this field. Resetting a login should be a simple process…why is there even an employee ID field when this is a member only app??

### 1/5 — Upmc flex

*2023-07-28*

Rating right up there with Comcast
Swear can’t get a st. Answer nor validate a thing for yourself not to mention the data collected is available to everyone bud the personal user

### 1/5 — Horrible 🙄😡

*2023-07-07*

One time the Face ID doesn’t work and it turns it OFF! Plus it locks you out that you have to log in, AND change the password before you can see anything else in your account! What a waste of time! 😡

### 1/5 — App is awe full

*2023-05-18*

The app seems t break a lot. Upon contacting help they are completely useless. They tell you the benefits of the app when you ask why it isn’t working. I agree with other comments. Bring back the OTC scan app. Now it’s just a guessing game if it’s covered.

### 1/5 — Scanner doesn’t work on curved labels

*2023-03-07, version 14.0.0002*

The scanner in this app doesn’t scan a barcode on a bottle. I could get it to work on a flat label. The Apple camera scanner works on curved labels, so I use it to get the data and manually enter it in the app. Not user friendly at all! This issue might be related to multiple lenses on my iPhone 14. I can never get the barcode to fill the indicated area in the app without it becoming blurred.

### 1/5 — Difficult

*2023-01-28, version 14.0.0002*

Pretty savvy with technology, app won’t even let me log in. When I hit that I don’t remember my username (which I would assume is one of the million different ones for UPMC apps) it asks for my employee ID. Never had any issues with myOTC app. Completely annoyed. Wish it was connected to MyUPMC app in some way rather than a whole new troublesome app.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2023-01-18, version 14.0.0002*

The app is terrible and there is no support for it. They tell you to call the regular UPMC phone line where you only can talk to a UPMC rep. They are not the app developers nor are they equipped with any information for troubleshooting. UPMC put them out there on their own and they can’t help us. UPMC, step up your game and take care of the people who need to help with this app otherwise give me back to the OTC app; It was easy to scan with & the app actually worked . I for one need that scanner!

### 1/5 — Horrible planning by Major Health Network

*2023-01-16, version 14.0.0002*

We were sent information about this app as well as a website upmcflex.com for 2023. While I was at least able to open an account and login to this app it’s still a COMPLETE FAIL for several reasons:

1) no access to online OTC store: this should be OBVIOUS as something to include on this app. With the website clearly NOT being prepared (it tells you to login to the insurance app/site) this is a MAJOR fail 😠

2) no access to the OTC catalog: again this should be apparent when developing the app. Depending on our login we should be given link to the correct catalog for our coverage. FAIL 👎🏻

3) no details on the flex plan: this should be MOST obviously included! There should be a link to the pdf/website with info on what is covered by this benefit and where we can use it. Having to go back and forth between the insurance app/site and this app to try and use a benefit is RIDICULOUS 😒

As UPMC is a major health network this is simply UNACCEPTABLE. This app and/or the website for the program should have been developed and tweaked months ahead of time. Every detail should have been considered to ensure patients have adequate access to information. This app fails. PERIOD 😡

SIDE NOTE: Don’t understand why we cannot use these OTC cards online with retailers. Especially for patients who are disabled or elderly, and often do not drive, it would be very beneficial to be able to order items and have them delivered. UPMC has a LOT of work to do to fulfill their patients needs. 🤕

### 1/5 — Can’t register

*2023-01-16, version 14.0.0002*

I downloaded app and attempted to register. I filled in all fields except employee ID as I am not an employee. This app was told to me to be for the UPMC shop healthy program. App isn’t useful.

## Most praised reviews (3 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Employee ID

*2023-01-12, version 14.0.0002*

It is your MEMBER ID NUMBER

### 5/5 — Read me..

*2023-01-10, version 14.0.0002*

Hello, this app is somewhat confusing because it asked for employee of number and all you need your Primary ID number that’s on your upmc card to set up your account. It takes you to a screen to set up username/password and some security questions, then back to the log in screen. Log in with your new username and password and your into your account, it shows your balance and other helpful things.

### 3/5 — Quirky

*2023-01-04, version 14.0.0001*

I downloaded the app today for the first time and ran into the same problem. The previous reviewer had. Instead of entering the user ID, you must enter your member ID. If it doesn’t work, you may not have an account with this specific app. If that’s the case, go to the bottom of the screen and create a new account.

Figuring all of this out took a call to UPMC customer service, the phone number noted upon opening the app.

I spent some time scanning items that one would think would be acceptable on this plan, but perhaps 50% of my scans did not find an item. There are probably reason for this as not all generics would necessarily be in their system. Still, it was frustrating enough that I don’t know if can count on it to be all that helpful.

I like the idea enough, though, that I will continue to work with the app. If I find any improvements, I will note them here.
