Update - the grocery features have been restored. I thought it was a great idea for people saving for their children's college, with small contributions over time. I’ve had the app/account for less than a month now. In the last week, my account has been suspended twice. There is no customer service. The submit button on the website doesn't work to send them a message, they don't reply to messages on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn, and there is no customer service phone number. I got the Upromise credit card through Barclays, and they don’t even have a contact number for them. I feel the lack of customer service is especially concerning since they are helping you get extra cash for your child's future education.  I would not recommend the service to anyone looking for an extra few bucks their child’s future. it’s more of a headache than it is helpful. ### 1/5 — What happened to receipt scanning?! *2026-04-21, version 2.6* Update: the receipt scanning has returned, but nearly all the deals I used are gone. What happened to all the generic grocery offers? I buy very few name-brand products, so the most important going to get out of a receipt is a penny. Original: Since the last update, there is no way to scan grocery receipts. This is the only way I earn any money through Upromise—the surveys never work, and I don’t play any of the games. After its being sold it became a scam app. I’m desperate to get money for my kid college. Forget an effort with Upromise, you won’t be able to make 100K, worth a year in private school with the room and board. You maybe to make a $100 dollars for a year doing challenges in Upromise. Most likely, yiu won’t get paid for what you’ve done, because they ‘rely on 3rd party partners’. When you do their clicks they actually make money on you, despite paying you a penny or not. Stay away from this app! You will not receive your money for the goals you complete ### 1/5 — Shopping Made Difficult *2025-09-07, version 2.4* The new App structure makes it near impossible to search through to find the merchant you are seeking. I can find no search function on the App and there is no framework for how the merchants are displayed, e.g., not in alphabetical order. Over 500 Merchants and literally a turnoff to have to scroll in the hopes of finding what you want. Perhaps that is the objective.
