### 4/5 — Funktioniert auch mit TrueNAS und Sonoma

*2024-03-09*

**Developer response:** Thank you for the review and for using UPS Power Monitor app! Best regards

### 5/5 — APC CS 650 und Syno DS215

*2022-11-21*

### 5/5 — Works great with NUT Server setup!

*2022-06-28*

Works great with NUT Server setup!

**Developer response:** Hello,
As I wrote in the e-mail, UPS Power Monitor does not display any window by default, but it adds an additional icon on the Mac's menu bar displayed on the top of the screen. After clicking it should display app’s window.
Please let us know if the icon is not visible on the menu bar and we will do our best to help.
Kind regards

### 4/5 — Great NUT front end app

*2021-12-16*

Only lost a star as it doesnt report voltage despit the cmd line tools reporting them.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for the review!
If you could send us a screenshot of your "All parameters" section by the support e-mail (it can be found on the device details screen in the app), we will add the missing options to the application.
Best regards

### 5/5 — Brilliant App

*2021-11-14*

This is just what i needed and was so easy to setup. Now not only is my NAS protected but so is my mac if/when we get a power cut. Couldnt recommend this app more highly.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for the review and for using the app, we are glad you like it! Best regards

### 4/5 — Funktioniert super, aber...

*2021-06-20*

**Developer response:** Thank you for the review. The initial idea was to call the AppleScript from the app, however the matter is not as simple as it seems and the developer does not always have the same rights as the user. Computer shutdown requests sent from an application downloaded from the App Store (it does not matter if AppleScript or Terminal is used) are ignored and this is the reason why an additional tool is needed.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2021-06-19*

Awesome, does just what I was looking for.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for the review, we are glad that you like the app and it is working for you without issues. Best regards!

### 5/5 — Super mit Synology 720 und DSM7 sowie APC Back-UPS 900G

*2021-04-23*

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for the review, we are glad that you like the app and it is working for you without issues. Best regards!

### 5/5 — Very Happy - One Small Bug

*2021-04-01*

I'm amazed that great apps like this exist at such a low price on the AppStore. This App is exactly what I needed to have a APC Smart UPS connected to my Synology NAS be able to shutdown all of the Macs on my network when my house looses power. Essentially, the Synology acts as a hub being connected by USB directly to the UPS. The Synology then sends all of the information around the network to all computers connected. This app makes all of the UPS data, which is surprisingly detailed avaialble in the menu bar of Mac OS. There is a small utility you have to install that allows the app to shutdown the computer in the event of power loss. It took 10 minutes to download the app and get everything set up, and it works flawlessly on multiple macs on my LAN.

The bug i just noticed is that when the UPS is at 99%, it sometimes alternates between a charging state (trickle charge) and not charging. When ever the state of the UPS changes, it fires a notification on the mac. Which means that you get a constant barage of notifications saying the UPS is charging. There should be a threshold that the user can set that makes the app only show one notification if the charge level is in the range of a defined percentage and above. Dev please fix this and your app will be perfect. Well Done!

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for the review! We are glad that you like the app and the feedback is always very valuable. We will look into the issue you have reported and check if we can do something with the notifications. Best regards!

### 5/5 — Perfect for network shutdown from a Synology NAS

*2021-02-16*

I use the built in server function on the Synology NAS, by simply adding the ip address for the iMac (while Synology suggest the function is only for their own NAS's, but in reality it is a GUI for APCUPSD/NUT standard server). This UPS Power Monitor app bypasses a bulky, torturous install & configuration of Xtools/Java/Fink&NUT and just works. Follow the instructions on installing the small server package (via terminal) to implement the shutdown function.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for the review, we are glad that you like the app and it is working for you without issues. Best regards!

### 5/5 — Perfect for monitoring UPS

*2021-01-16*

I just recently moved from a Drobo DAS to a Synology NAS and within a few days of setting up I had a double power cut. No harm done to the NAS but I want to avoid data corruption so I purchased a UPS.

The UPS only has one USB port for monitoring which is connected to the NAS so it shuts down safely when power drops. This works perfectly, but I also wanted the option of shutting my Mac down. I set up my NAS to be a UPS server and installed this app and its perfect.

You get a little icon so you can monitor battery levels etc of the UPS and it will notify you if there are issues. The best part is you can set up a power guard server (note you do need to run 1 terminal command to install this but it takes 2 seconds). Once its done you can set up define a rule under the settings to shut your mac down correctly. For example after a certain time or when the battery gets to a set level.

I did find 1 small quirk configuring it, emailed support and had a response how to do it in about 4 minutes! You won't get better service anywhere else.

Yes you can use terminal to set up a NUT client, but you won't get the visual tools for monitoring and that alone is worth the cost of a cup of coffee. Anyone with a NAS connected to a UPS should download this.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for the review and for all the kind words! We are glad that you like the app and it is working for you without issues. Best regards!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No lifetime plan

*2026-05-04*

I’m not into being nickel and dimed to death by monthly or yearly subscription plans. Have a lifetime plan. I mean come on, it’s a UPS shutdown and monitoring app. Plenty of free Homebrew NUT tools you can run that will do the same thing. Yes an app is easier and prettier but it doesn’t justify ~$4/month or ~$50/year.

**Developer response:** You can unlock local monitoring features with a single lifetime in-app purchase.

The cloud monitoring and notification features offered by the app incur recurring costs for us. While we would also are not big fans of subscriptions, we are not able to cover the infrastructure costs and maintain the app’s high-level updates through a lifetime plan.

### 1/5 — Can’t believe that Apple would allow an app on the app store that forces you to install a zip 2 work

*2026-04-30*

To get the auto shutdown feature, which I would say is the main feature, you are forced to download a zip file for the server? This is not safe, and could very easily be a strategy for installing malware and trojan horses. I will be reporting the app. The server and shutdown component should be part of the app or a separate app on the app store.

**Developer response:** App is not forcing anything, please don’t spread misinformation.
App Store apps cannot shut down macOS, so an external tool is needed (as always; now there is a management app to streamline the installation process). It is optional and is not needed for the app to run in order to monitor UPS devices.
Power Server scripts are open source for full transparency and you can install them manually if you don’t want to use helper app. Detailed instructions are available on our support page.

### 1/5 — Does not work, can’t get refund

*2024-12-09*

The app will not open, I’ve followed all troubleshooting recommended from other people who’ve had this issue and nothing helps. I tried to request a refund but get told “You have no purchases that are eligible for a refund.”

**Developer response:** Apple handles refunds, so we can’t participate in the process.

### 2/5 — Widget nur mit Abo!?

*2026-06-04*

Was soll das denn?

**Developer response:** Please reach out to us with more details as the app is verified to be compatible with DSM 7.3.
Best regards

### 3/5 — Stopped working with Tahoe upgrade

*2025-10-04*

The local server monitor stopped working, and the developers website to get instructions on setup has an Invalid SSL certificate error from Cloudflare, so no way to fix it. Looks like vaporware.

**Developer response:** Hello,
Website issues was just temporary, application is still being active and updated.
Kind regards

### 3/5 — Funktioniert aber

*2024-05-23*

**Developer response:** Hi,

Since macOS High Sierra, Apple had released six (almost seven) major versions of the system. If the application has to be stable and evolving, unfortunately, we need to drop the old versions of the operation system at some point. On the other hand, macOS Ventura supports Macs from 2017, so a lot of devices are covered and supported by the app.

The additional, free tool is only needed if you want to safely shut down the computer and it was a response to user expectations. Shutting down devices directly from the app is impossible due to Apple's restrictions, not the developer's reluctance.

Kind regards

### 3/5 — Shutting down system

*2021-05-29*

Love it so far, but is it possible for me to be able to shut down the system that this app is installed on?

**Developer response:** Hello, yes, this is possible. Please visit our support page for a detailed instructions about how to setup Power Guard feature and shut down the Mac automatically. In case of any questions please contact us via our support email.

### 3/5 — Much Appreciated app!

*2020-07-08*

Just got a UPS for my NAS boxes, and wanted a macOS app for monitoring a Remote UPS. This app works great on Catalina (or later) and does exactly what I needed to have it monitor thru my NAS (which is connected to my new APC UPS).

Two stars off because it doesn't work on Mojave. First time coming across a 3rd party app that REQUIRES 10.15.x or later. So I can only use this on my new 16in MBP. I also have an iMac, older MBP, and an older MacMIni that must remain on Mojave due to critical 32bit apps I use. Since Mojave can run 64bit apps perfectly well, I do not understand why this app forces itself to only work under Catalina or later. Developer should probably issue something in the description that notes the reasons why 10.15 or later is required.

**Developer response:** Hello. Thank you for using the app, we are very happy that it is working for you without issues.

The Mac app requires macOS Catalina and its iOS counterpart works from iOS 13 because we are using technologies which unfortunately are not available on earlier versions. Those frameworks also allow us to keep the low prices of both apps which is important for such specific applications with rather limited audience. The Mac app was never compatible with older system versions, we are not promising that in the description and the required OS version can be found on the application's page in the Mac App Store.

### 4/5 — Good Mac alternative to WinNUT

*2025-01-22*

I was looking for an alternative to the WinNUT application I was using on Windows. This application is it, I like that it sits in the menu bar.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the review and for using UPS Power Monitor app, we are glad you like it! Best regards

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2026-02-05*

I reviewed this a few years ago, and back then I had an issue with it causing high CPU usage - I forgot about it for a while, but having recently bought a new UPS, I remembered the app and gave it another try. Not only is the interface shiny and updated, it works a treat! There seems to be a real lack of good UPS monitoring apps on either macOS or Windows, and this seems to be the best of the bunch! Glad I have it! Thanks for the great app!

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for the review and for using the UPS Power Monitor app, we are glad you like it! Best regards

### 5/5 — Great with Synology NAS and Mac

*2026-01-08*

Just what I needed. Got CyberPower UPS this morning and USB connected it to my Synology NAS. I then enabled the NAS to act as a UPS server on the LAN and then this tool on my Mac displays full information and will trigger a Mac Shutdown in case of power failure. Note to Self: plug Mac’s power cord into UPS after turning off the Mac!

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for the review and for using the UPS Power Monitor app, we are glad you like it! Best regards

### 5/5 — Perfect UPS Power Monitor App

*2025-11-04*

Perfect. No notes. Used it for years.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the review and for using UPS Power Monitor app, we are glad you like it! Best regards

### 5/5 — Works perfectly on M4 Mac Mini (Sequoia 15.4)

*2025-04-04*

The app was easy to set up and is surprisingly simple and intuitive. It does exactly what I need. I have it monitoring the status of an APC Back-UPS 1500 (connected by USB to an Unraid server running the Network UPS Tools plugin) and set to power off the Mini and other devices when the battery runs low. Amazing!

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for your review and for using the UPS Power Monitor app, we are glad you like it! Best regards

### 5/5 — Sehr nützliche App

*2024-04-19*

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for the review and for using UPS Power Monitor app, we are glad you like it! Best regards

### 5/5 — Great Simple Tool!

*2024-03-31*

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for the review and for using UPS Power Monitor app, we are glad you like it!
Best regards

### 5/5 — Es funktioniert einfach

*2023-07-22*

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for the review and for using UPS Power Monitor app, we are glad you like it!
Best regards

### 5/5 — Brilliant App for Network UPS

*2022-12-31*

I am using APC Back-UPS ES 850G2 which has USB cable connected to WD MY Cloud PR4100 directly. It's a new deployment due to I had experienced power suspension last week.

I was doubted if this app supports the UPS and NAS at the beginning since the UPS was not tested compatible model of WD PR4100 and the administration portal of NAS did not have options for configuring the UPS.

After I installed the Power Monitor App on my Mac Mini and inputed IP of my NAS, it recognised the model and retrieved many information of UPS via the NAS. It is really easy to use and work perfect for me!

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for the review and for using UPS Power Monitor app, we are glad you like it! Best regards
