## What is UpStep?

UpStep turns walking into something you look forward to. Set a step goal, invite friends, and watch the leaderboard do the rest.

STEP CHALLENGES
• Create a challenge in seconds: daily goal or "hold the average", 7 to 30 days, public or invite-only.
• Allow a few skip days so one busy day doesn't end your run.
• A live leaderboard, streaks and a shared feed where the group cheers (or teases) you on.
• Steps come from Apple Health, so your Apple Watch and other apps count too.

YOUR AI COACH
• A short morning message that looks at yesterday: your steps, your food, even the weather outside.
• Ask anything in chat, by text or voice — pace, portions, sore legs, motivation.
• A weekly recap that names the pattern instead of reciting numbers.
• Pick the tone you can live with: friendly, gentle or strict.

FOOD DIARY THAT ISN'T A CHORE
• Snap a photo of your plate, scan a barcode, or just say what you ate.
• Calories and macros with a daily budget that accounts for the steps you walked.
• See how eating, sleep and movement line up over 7, 14 or 30 days.

A STEPLING THAT GROWS WITH YOU
• Your steps feed a little creature that levels up, learns tricks and earns outfits.
• Send it on expeditions, pat a friend's pet, or line up a friendly battle.
• Miss a few days and it gets hungry — a nudge that works better than a notification.

MADE TO BE LIVED IN
• English, Русский, Українська and Polski.
• Six themes, light and dark.
• Reminders you choose, not a stream of alerts.

UpStep is a fitness and habit app, not a medical service. It does not diagnose, treat or replace advice from a healthcare professional.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.8 — 2026-09-28

Photo gram estimates are more accurate. Soup in a bowl is no longer cut down to a "typical" portion — the weight comes from the bowl's volume. Dumplings are told apart by size, a sushi set counts as one item by the number of pieces, and stews and dishes in sauce include the sauce.

Smarter portion memory. The app used to paste last time's grams instead of what is on the photo. Now it remembers how much you usually correct the estimate for a given food and applies that correction to the new photo: one egg on the photo stays one egg even if last time there were two.

On iPhones with LiDAR, the AR camera now measures the height of the food on the plate. These measurements will help us make portion estimates even more accurate in upcoming updates.

### 1.0.7 — 2026-09-22

Weight comes from Apple Health — history included. Turn on "Take weight from Health" in your profile: the app imports your past weigh-ins once and keeps up with new ones on its own. When a day has several readings, the morning one wins — evening weight drifts with water and dinner. What you typed by hand stays in charge: the import never overwrites it.

Your calorie target counts more than steps. If Health knows about a workout, a bike ride or anything else a pedometer cannot see, the burn comes from there — so the target rises on a gym day and is not inflated on a rest day. In the metabolism estimate, the base is now separated from all movement, not just walking.

Protein, fat and carb targets can be set by hand — in the same place where you change the calorie target. An empty field is calculated for you; what you set is taken as is, and the rest is recalculated from the calories left.

The pet can be switched off entirely — a toggle in your profile. The tab disappears, its quests and notifications stop, and you drop out of battles. Nothing is deleted: switch it back on and the pet is there with its level and wardrobe.

Body measurements now track the left and right arm separately.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-09-21

Measure your plate right in the camera. Before the shot, point the camera at the table: the app finds the surface, lays a metric grid over it and outlines the dish in frame — a plate by its diameter, a bowl by its rim depth as well. That size goes into the photo analysis, so grams stop being a guess from a picture. Caught the wrong object? Tap "Wrong dish" and the capture starts over; you can also set the diameter by hand, touching both edges.

Steps are honest now. The cause of the inflated counts is found and closed: the phone counter no longer stands in for Apple Health, and a day total from Health can correct an earlier number downwards. Profile has a new "Steps & permissions" panel showing where every figure came from.

A challenge streak now breaks on a missed day and is counted the same way everywhere, leaderboard included.

The coach no longer says your phone was offline when you simply did not open the app, rewrites the morning digest if yesterday data arrived late, and does not invite you to walk the pet unprompted. Food photo analysis got better at flat cuts, countable pieces and heaps.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-09-06

Nutrition, rebuilt. One daily summary at the top: the ring shows how much is left to eat, next to it eaten, goal and steps, below protein, fat, carbs, fiber and sugar. Four meals are always in view and an empty one suggests "like yesterday". The photo and add buttons are docked at the bottom.

Food photos are analysed in the background: snap the plate, leave the app — the result waits for you as a card. The add sheet now offers your recent and frequent foods with last-time portions, a meal can be repeated with one tap, and a deleted one brought back within five seconds.

"Body & progress" — one screen instead of three: weight together with calorie balance, a plain verdict on whether your diary agrees with the scale, metabolism, measures and water over one shared period.

Reminders about unlogged lunch and dinner, optional writing of nutrition to Apple Health (toggles in Profile), portion grams from barcodes and more accurate food matching from the database.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-09-03

New "Calories & weight" report — in Nutrition, under the weight chart. It shows your calorie balance together with your weight over the chosen period and says plainly whether your food diary agrees with the scale. Tap any bar to see weight, eaten, burned and balance for that day.

Longer periods for your stats: 3 months, 6 months and a year, plus a custom range you pick on a calendar. Over long spans the bars group into weeks and months so the chart stays readable.

Protein, fat and carb bars now warn you: they turn orange near your target and red once you are over it, showing how much over you went.

Food photos: the button opens the camera right away, with no extra prompt. And the "Add meal" sheet now has a "Food photo from gallery" button for a shot you already took.

Challenge invitations no longer get lost: a dot on the Challenges tab and an Accept / Decline card right in your list of challenges.

In Ideas, other people's suggestions are hidden — your own stays fully readable.
