### 2/5 — A waste of time

*2026-09-04, version 12.14.1*

Every two or three days the app would say congratulations you’ve sent your first like, despite the fact that I have sent many in the prior few days. It’s just not trustworthy and I feel like I wasted 10 days because it seemed to reset internally every two or three days 🙄

### 2/5 — App Used to be Just For Christians

*2026-08-31, version 12.14.1*

tell me why on a “Christian Dating App” there are allowed categories of Agnostic, Jewish, and Atheist? i’ve seen those things listed a lot which are not compatible with Christianity. i get the company wants more users so they can have more money. but once upon a time you could actually find quality people that would check a lot of boxes. the downside was that they were often far. honestly more of a trade off to have quality people that might be far than people that don’t share same values that are all over. for that i might as well just use a different app. you might be thinking “why not just use filters?” i do! but they do next to nothing. your first few swipes might do something for ya, but after that it’s almost like the filters are merely a suggestion. match group really ran this one to the ground.

### 1/5 — Money sucubus

*2026-08-31, version 12.14.1*

I quit this app like 4 or 5 mo the ago they won’t stop charging g me. Apple says it’s ipward ipward says it’s apple, but each mo th I get a new statement sir $21 from upward… not Apple. 5 thumbs down

### 3/5 — Upward: Christian Dating

*2026-08-30, version 12.14.1*

Please change your title to this review’s title to avoid confusion. Only meeting Christian singles here.

Rename Chivalry mode. Chivalry does not equal Gentleman Behavior.

Endless swiping despite being liked. Baited into swiping by notifications that someone liked me. 5+ likes, 100+ swipes, no matches nor missed matches.

### 1/5 — False christians here

*2026-08-29, version 12.14.1*

I met insane people here.

### 1/5 — ⭐️ 1/5

*2026-08-29, version 12.14.1*

I’ve tried Upward twice now, and unfortunately, both experiences have been extremely disappointing. The app markets itself as a Christian dating app, but in my experience, that is not reflected in the people or profiles I’ve encountered.

There are so many profiles of men who clearly do not appear to share or practice Christian beliefs, which makes me question how much effort is actually being made to maintain the type of community Upward advertises. Simply selecting “Christian” on a dating profile does not make an app a faith-centered dating environment.

For people who are genuinely trying to date intentionally and find someone who shares their faith, values, and desire for a God-centered relationship, this app can be incredibly frustrating. I joined specifically because I wanted an alternative to mainstream dating apps—not essentially the same dating pool with a Christian label placed on it.

I really wish Upward would do more to create the community it claims to offer, whether that means better faith-based profile questions, stronger filters, more meaningful prompts, or some way of distinguishing people who are genuinely looking for a Christian relationship.

After giving it a second chance and having another terrible experience, I won’t be using it again. If you are serious about your faith and are looking for someone who is equally serious about theirs, I wouldn’t pick this app

### 1/5 — Cat fishing

*2026-08-29, version 12.14.1*

Most people on here are catfishing

### 2/5 — Needs improvement on safety

*2026-08-29, version 12.14.1*

While it’s great that there is an app for Christians, it’s true that people abuse this and aren’t online for the right reasons. It doesn’t help at all that the filters don’t work— especially the age filter. You never know who is coming to the app with history of abuse or other forms of harassment and not being able to filter who enters our feed can be a trigger. Developers really need to work on this. If users make it clear their preference, it should be taken seriously.

### 1/5 — Very buggy and disappointing

*2026-08-29, version 12.14.1*

After the third time of swiping on the same profiles (why are they coming back up?) as well as having the few matches that were made respond like they were some sort of terrible AI assistant. I gave up. Ark and Facebook dating seem like much better options

### 1/5 — Not worth the effort of even creating an account

*2026-08-29, version 12.14.1*

I was excited to give this app a try because the advertisement I saw presented it as “find someone with your values” so I thought great, I can filter through my values and not just have a bunch of noise on here like all the other apps. Nope. Put in my filters, none of them actually filtered anything because all I see on the app are conservative, patriarchal, Christian men, and that doesn’t align with my values at all. Maybe it’s just the men in my area, but I thought this app would at least be useful to filter through them instead of wasting my time. Not worth the effort of creating an account, since apparently the only values on here are Christian conservative men. Where I was seeing advertisements, it was not advertised as a Christian only dating app. What’s even the point of offering other faith options if literally the only demographic is Christian conservative

### 1/5 — A lot of scammers

*2026-08-28, version 12.14.1*

The good looking men are scammers. Yall beware.

### 2/5 — No customer support

*2026-08-28, version 12.14.1*

The app worked fine, but when I paused my profile it took away my purchase and I’ve been unable to get it back. I reached out to customer service and got an automated response and no other way to contact them. I’ve reached out to Apple as well and no response. Very disappointed that I spent $60 for a couple weeks of using this app.

### 1/5 — Ruined

*2026-08-28, version 12.14.1*

It won’t let me log in with whatever change they made. No option to sign in. It’s all create a new account.

### 1/5 — Expensive

*2026-08-28, version 12.14.1*

Honestly disappointed because you can’t see anything from likes to messages without paying a hefty fee per month. The free option is completely irrelevant.

### 2/5 — Owned by Tinder…Same Swipe Algorithm

*2026-08-27, version 12.14.1*

Unfortunately, a bunch of subpar looking women who get a match 40% of the time, while men receive a match 2% of the time (actual data). Men outnumber women on swipe-apps more than 2:1. The “Christian” wrapper doesn’t change the modern phenomenon we’re seeing in dating. Recent polls show that women rate ~80% of men as being below average in looks. This leaves the top ~20% of men receiving 98% of the matches. Meanwhile, the “…Where are all of the good men?!” mystery remains alive and well inside of the female community. Even if you manage to match with a woman, odds show that it falls on the man to impress that woman, but the woman relies on her looks/body to impress, not their character. The ROI isn’t worth it. Swipe-apps have created an unrealistic bubble of entitlement and self-justified promiscuity amongst women. The wildly imbalanced amount of matches for females leaves them wondering why they’re liked so much, but no one wants to marry them. The sad truth is that they’re choosing the men who want to rent the room, not move in.

Understand that this is coming from a purely analytical perspective, not a “…I’m bitter I’m not getting enough matches to maintain my ego.” ideology. All of my figures are data-backed and not intended to insult or anger anyone. Completely fine if you disagree, and no judgement intended to be against anyone in specific.

Just like the good men are out there, so are the good women. We’ve all just been led to believe that apps are the answer, when, in fact, they’re the problem.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2026-08-27, version 12.14.1*

Absolutely terrible, app messed up my birthday and gave me some stupid generated username. And none of it is changeable. Do not download! Also it is not a Christian app!!

### 1/5 — False banning

*2026-08-27, version 12.14.1*

Falsely banning for no apparent reason and gives no reason into why they ban. Maybe it’s because I was a free user? Anyways extremely disappointed and wouldn’t waste ur time.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Really expensive and frustrating

*2026-09-03, version 12.14.1*

After spending $35 to use basic functions, the app doesn’t let you message these women or anything but a stupid like. So unless you want to pay another $20 per three messages, you’re stuck with blending in the crowd of guys who are all liking as well. Filters aren’t great on here for filtering out the hos, drinkers, smokers, etc. just don’t get it. 3/10 girls won’t even like you back.

### 1/5 — This app is a mess

*2026-09-03, version 12.14.1*

Clunky platform. Filters that don’t work. Unnecessary features. Forced to add “values” from which the options are very limited. Terrible customer service. You can only get in touch via email and you will not get a response. I’ve been waiting on a response for weeks even after several follow ups. I don’t know how there are so many positive reviews… I have to believe these are fake.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-09-02, version 12.14.1*

If you add new photos and they kick you out over a harmless photo, good luck getting back in. Especially if you have paid for a subscription through it.

### 1/5 — distance

*2026-09-02, version 12.14.1*

distance

### 1/5 — App

*2026-09-01, version 12.14.1*

App doesn’t let you sign in and you click on app support it says page not found

### 1/5 — Preferences

*2026-09-01, version 12.14.1*

I like how this app flat out ignores them.

Looking for a Lutheran? Here’s a Protestant.

Looking for a Catholic? Here’s a Baptist.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t keep your settings

*2026-09-01, version 12.14.1*

I am always getting people way too far away from the distance I set it’s very frustrating and annoying

### 1/5 — Please read before using

*2026-08-31, version 12.14.1*

Today I contacted their customer service through the app and made references to all of the people being hundreds of miles away, the preference option not working, the app being buggy and the amount of scammers. I received an auto generated response that told me their algorithm doesn’t just work off of your preference. It works by how often you use the app, how you rate matches (whatever that means) and other factors on what it shows you or what it sends you. Therefore, this isn’t an app where you set preferences and it shows you everyone within that radius or preferences. The app is designed to keep you searching and keep you paying.

If you want to talk to married women, scammers trying to get money, or pay ridiculous fees to potentially match with someone eight hours away, this app is for you…..

### 1/5 — Beware of Catfishers!

*2026-08-31, version 12.14.1*

I have been on this app for about five weeks. Sadly, I dished out the initial $35 and renewed it because I thought I found someone who was actually worth my time. The app only seems to find me people outside of my age range or men who live 200 miles plus from me. They seem to disappear for a few days and then use ChatGPT to send me a reply. Don’t bother… You’re just wasting your time!

### 1/5 — Bad Algorithm

*2026-08-31, version 12.14.1*

It feels like you never cross your matches or people that liked you while swiping

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Success 1 year married!

*2026-08-29, version 12.14.1*

Me and my husband met on this app, we were married a year in June 2026. We both had tried different dating apps, but upward definitely trimmed a lot of the fat for both of us and allowed us to find each other. I love how it allows you to put your Christian values straight up front and center. And if people don’t act like what they’ve already said in their profile, then you know it on the first date and he was everything and more so grateful for this app for leading him to me. I never would’ve found him otherwise he’s the ultimate banana bread baddie!

### 5/5 — Found the love of my life

04/2026.

### 5/5 — I can't even call it a joke

*2026-08-25, version 12.14.1*

Jokes make me chuckle. This app just makes me angry. 99.5% of the profiles are not within a reasonable distance, they are 200+ miles away.

*2026-08-20, version 12.14.0*
