Die App funktioniert insgesamt wirklich gut und macht genau das, was sie soll. Besonders gefällt mir, dass sie zuverlässig Straßen ausschließt, die mit einem Roller oder Moped nicht befahren werden dürfen.

Einen Verbesserungsvorschlag hätte ich aber: Die App vermeidet bewusst stark befahrene Straßen sowie Straßen, auf denen das zu erwartende Tempo der anderen Verkehrsteilnehmer deutlich höher ist als das des eigenen Fahrzeugs, um die Fahrt angenehmer zu gestalten. Für Freizeitfahrten ist das eine tolle Idee. Bei längeren, rein zweckmäßigen Fahrten – zum Beispiel Kurierfahrten von 1-2h – wäre es jedoch hilfreich, diese Funktion deaktivieren zu können. Ich würde mir dafür einen Modus wünschen, der einfach den schnellsten legalen Weg berechnet. Ob die Strecke stärker befahren ist, höhere Geschwindigkeiten gefahren werden oder viele Steigungen enthält, spielt dabei keine Rolle – wichtig ist nur, dass die Strecke legal und die schnellste Verbindung zum Ziel ist.

Ansonsten bin ich mit der App sehr zufrieden.

Zu deinem Vorschlag: Eigentlich sollte unser Routing-Profil "Effizient" genau dieser von dir gewünschte Modus sein, der einfach die schnellste legal erlaubte Strecke berechnet. Es könnte jedoch sein, dass du in den Einstellungen bestimmte Vermeidungen aktiviert hast, wie zum Beispiel das Umfahren von Kopfsteinpflaster. Wenn solche Schalter aktiv sind, umgeht die App diese Straßen natürlich, was zu einer anderen und eventuell langsameren Route führt.

Wir werden die Routenführung aber definitiv noch einmal testen und genau prüfen, was da in solchen Situationen im Hintergrund passiert.

Um uns bei der Fehlersuche zu helfen, wäre es fantastisch, wenn du uns eine kurze E-Mail an support@urbanrider.app schreiben könntest. Es wäre super, wenn du uns die Logdatei der betroffenen Route mitsenden könntest. Du findest die Logs auf deinem Telefon direkt im Ordner "Urban Rider". Bitte beachte dabei nur, dass diese Dateien nach einer Woche automatisch gelöscht und überschrieben werden.

Abends fahre ich oft noch eine Runde durch die Stadt. Die App zeigt mir Wege, die gut für Roller geeignet sind und vermeidet Kopfsteinpflaster, wenn möglich. Die Karte reagiert flott und die Hinweise sind klar, sodass ich kaum aufs Handy schauen muss.

Seems like it'd work well. However, the camera is locked to stop panning outside the United States. This wouldn't normally be an issue, as I'm American, but I live in Miami and the camera stops panning south at around St. Lucie County. Very strange issue to have but I'm sure the app would work wonderfully if it covered my area

As an earlier adopter I really wanted to support the idea as I think it is a good one. However, I never quite found it met my expectations and often took me on bike paths or roads that were not allowed with a 50cc scooter. Now it seems that the app has also turned into a paid subscription model. I think this is a shame as when I bought it this was never made apparent that it would change and, having actually paid proper money for the app, find it a bit disappointing. Oh well…

You're right, the app has transitioned to a subscription model. We want to be transparent about why. The move was a direct response to feedback from the Reddit community, where users were asking for a trial and a subscription-based approach. The app has also grown in complexity, with the routing being completely rebuilt from version 3 onwards. This new and improved routing system is the best available and ensures that you won't end up on highways.

We regret that you chose to write a review instead of reaching out to us first. We have an established process for these situations and want to make sure you get the best experience possible.

Never used this app but I was planning to. I tried entering a route to a place in Germany imagining that I would be able to set a starting location, but no, it tried to give me the route from my location, in spain. 
I’m pretty shocked that whoever made this app didn’t even think of adding such feature. Disappointing.

Urban Rider offers seamless navigation tailored for scooters. The map is clear, and the voice-guided directions are spot on. I've saved considerable time on my daily cọmmute. However, it would be great to have offline maps for areas with poor signal. Overall, it’s an essential app for scooter enthusiasts!

I recently downloaded Urban Rider and it has transformed my scooter rides. The app is intuitive, making navigation a breeze. The ability to find nearby charging stations is a nice touch. It helps me explore my city from a new angle. A small suggestion: incorporating more social features could enhance the experience.

Tu lui dit que t’es en 50cc il te fait passer par les pire cotes du monde, et faire des détour qui n’ont aucun sens !

**Developer response:** Bonjour, et merci pour votre retour, même s'il est sévère.

Vous avez raison sur un point important : pour un 50 cm³, la limite de pente était trop permissive. Nous la corrigeons dans la prochaine mise à jour (4.18.7) pour que l'app évite bien plus tôt les fortes montées en mode cyclomoteur.

Deux choses qui peuvent déjà vous aider aujourd'hui : dans Réglages, le curseur « Tolérance aux côtes » permet de rendre les itinéraires nettement plus plats, et vérifiez que le bon profil (cyclomoteur 50 cm³) est bien sélectionné.

Pour les détours qui vous semblent absurdes : c'est souvent dû à des routes de campagne françaises sans limitation de vitesse renseignée dans les cartes, que l'app contournait à tort. Nous corrigeons aussi ce comportement pour la France dans cette même mise à jour. Si vous pouviez nous indiquer un trajet précis (départ et arrivée) via un avis mis à jour ou par mail, nous le vérifierons directement.

I was so excited for this app, but then I realized that even though it says it will avoid major roads and roads with higher speed limits, it does not.  It wanted to take me on one of the busiest roads in Fargo, ND during rush hour and it only used the main traveled highest traffic roads.

**Developer response:** Hi, and thank you for the detailed feedback. I'm sorry the route put you on the busiest roads. That is the opposite of what Urban Rider is meant to do, and I'd like to help you get it dialed in.

Two settings make the biggest difference:
Ride Preference: In Settings, set this to "Scenic." It tells the router to strongly prefer calmer, lower-traffic streets and to accept a slightly longer route to avoid big arterials. It is the single most effective control for the riding you're describing.

Road avoidance: Also in Settings, make sure the option to avoid fast, high-traffic main roads is enabled. Combined with Scenic, this keeps routes on quieter streets wherever a reasonable alternative exists.

I also want to be straight with you: route quality depends heavily on the underlying map data, which is richer in some regions than others. In parts of the US, busy roads are sometimes labeled in the map data in a way that makes them harder for the router to recognize as "major," which can let one slip into a route. We are actively improving how Urban Rider handles US roads specifically.

Version 4.17.3 also fixes a separate issue where some setting changes didn't take effect until the app was restarted, so please update once it's available and then set the two options above.

If you're willing, email your start and destination to support@urbanrider.app and I'll look at that exact route and use it to improve the routing. Urban Rider is built to give you deep control over how it navigates, and I want to make sure it works the way you want. Thanks again for giving it a try.

Il faut payer pour utiliser le gps, ça serait bien de l’indiquer avant pour éviter une perte de temps.

Pendant cet essai, toutes les fonctionnalités, y compris la navigation GPS, sont débloquées. C’est un fonctionnement courant dans de nombreuses applications, mais nous allons voir comment rendre cela encore plus clair avant le lancement d’un itinéraire.

Diese App ist absolut nicht zu gebrauchen. Sorry man kann zwar alles eingeben und so aber wenn man die Navigation starten möchte, wird auf Premium Account verwiesen. D.h. man muss mindestens drei Euro im Monat bezahlen was ich absolut lächerlich finde. Man kann’s nicht mal probieren. Sorry aber das geht gar nicht. Und ja also wie gesagt, es geht nur mit Abo zu nutzen deswegen wertlos

Alle unsere Abos haben einen 7-tägigen kostenlosen Testzeitraum, in dem du die volle Premium-Funktion inklusive Navigation ohne Risiko testen kannst. Du musst dafür nur auf „Premium testen“ tippen. Das Abo verlängert sich erst danach automatisch und du kannst es jederzeit vorher kündigen.

Falls bei dir der Testzeitraum nicht angezeigt wurde oder etwas nicht funktioniert hat, würde ich dir gerne helfen.

Kannst du mir kurz bestätigen, auf welchem Gerät und welcher iOS-Version du die App Version 4.12.0 nutzt? Dann schaue ich mir das gerne genauer an.

Wir haben die App speziell für Scooter- und Moped-Fahrer entwickelt, damit die Routen wirklich sicher und entspannt sind. Deshalb ist die Navigation leider nicht komplett kostenlos. Der 7-Tage-Test ist aber genau dafür da, dass man alles in Ruhe ausprobieren kann, ohne gleich zu bezahlen.

Routing seems good, but the very key functionality of the map following your vehicle as you move doesn’t work, so once you move off the map you’re flying blind. incredibly dumb. and this behind a paywall too. Oh also they exclusive communicate via chat gpt generated BS, i’ve yet to see a single communication from the “devs” that isn’t chat GPT. I suspect the code is ai generated as well.

This app is kind of useless. It doesn’t actually do any of the things the guy that creates it listed on Reddit. It won’t even let me try to search for where I need to go. Says it’s too far. It’s not even 5 miles away. I use my scooter to commute so what the heck is the point of a map app that says everything is too far? That’s stupid.

Ich hatte in meiner vorherigen Rezension einen Verbesserungsvorschlag zur Routenführung gemacht und war ehrlich gesagt überrascht: Nicht einmal 24 Stunden später war bereits ein Update verfügbar, das genau in die Richtung geht, die ich mir gewünscht hatte.

Ich hatte außerdem Kontakt mit dem Support, der unglaublich schnell, freundlich und engagiert reagiert hat. Mein Feedback wurde ernst genommen, ausführlich beantwortet und offenbar direkt an die Entwicklung weitergegeben.

So einen Umgang mit Nutzerfeedback erlebt man heute leider nur noch selten. Dass die Entwickler dann auch noch so offen für Verbesserungsvorschläge sind und diese offensichtlich zeitnah umsetzen, macht die App für mich umso empfehlenswerter.

War übers Wochenende in einer fremden Stadt und wollte alles mit dem Roller erkunden. Die vorgeschlagenen Strecken haben wirklich Sinn gemacht und mich nicht über komische Umwege geschickt. Alles ist übersichtlich aufgebaut und schnell verstanden.

Am Wochenende probiere ich gern neue Wege im Park aus. Mit der Navigation habe ich mich bisher nie verfahren. Besonders praktisch finde ich die einfache Übersicht während der Fahrt.

This is a great app—very useful. I just have a quick question: how can I see in real time how many kilometers are left to reach my destination? I mean, similar to car navigation, where you can see the remaining distance update live.
