## What is UrbanTreeMetrics?

UrbanTreeMetrics is the essential field tool for urban forestry professionals, city planners, researchers, and arborists who need to collect, track, and manage detailed data about urban trees.

Whether you're conducting a city-wide tree inventory, assessing the health of a municipal forest, or managing multiple planting sites, UrbanTreeMetrics puts everything you need right in your pocket.

KEY FEATURES

GPS-Enabled Tree Mapping
Capture precise GPS coordinates for every tree you assess. View all your trees plotted on an interactive map to instantly understand coverage and distribution across your project area.

Detailed Tree Assessments
Record comprehensive data for each tree including species, address, tree status, planting site, and additional parameters. Each assessment is geo-tagged automatically for accuracy.

Project Management
Organize your work by project — perfect for managing multiple sites or ongoing urban forestry contracts. Track active and completed assessments within each project and monitor progress over time.

Data Export
Export your tree inventory data to CSV format for further analysis, reporting, or integration with GIS tools and municipal databases.

Built for Urban Forestry Professionals
Designed for the workflows that forestry teams actually use in the field, UrbanTreeMetrics supports best practices for tree inventory and data collection.

UrbanTreeMetrics is the smart, simple way to bring your tree inventory into the digital age — accurate, organized, and always with you in the field.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 2.1 — 2026-03-22

Performance and battery life improvements based on field testing feedback.

- Dramatically reduced battery drain: GPS now automatically downshifts to low-power mode once a solid fix is locked, instead of running the GPS chip at maximum accuracy the entire time.
- Map view loads significantly faster: inventory tree dots now use lightweight native rendering instead of individual SwiftUI views, fixing lag when displaying 1,400+ trees.
- Reduced memory usage: photos are now saved at an optimized resolution and displayed using cached thumbnails instead of loading full-size images on every screen.
- Faster tree list scrolling: survey history counts are now pre-computed instead of recalculated per row.
