For watching live, it’s usually okay. However, it is endlessly dreadful for playing back full games you might have missed. The app regularly doesn’t seem to recognize that fact that I have a subscription, and I’m driven demented from the tech support telling me to do the same thing over and over – log out, log in again. Log out, uninstall the app, reinstall the app, log in again, try watching in browser. It’s ridiculous. Same thing today – tried to watch a replay of the Munster v Lions game and it just kept telling me I needed a subscription (I have one!). Tried watching in browser and it plays for a second or two before buffering back to generic opening b-roll. The developer and support teams have no idea what’s going on, cannot identify and solve the problems, or simply don’t care to, now that they have my money. A terrible, sub-standard product, and as another reviewer previously mentioned, they are intentionally not transparent about games you can and cannot watch as part of your subscription (please read: depending on your region, you will not be able to watch the knock-out games through this app and sub offering). BUYER BEWARE: FIND ANOTHER WAY TO WATCH. ### 1/5 — Endless issues *2022-10-15, version 2.1.1* Works okay when watching live, just don’t pause or try to watch from start. No option to skip forward or back like any other streaming service. Watching a replay? Forget about. Have to wait an eternity for it to be available. And when you finally get to watch a replay they might just start by showing you the final score. Stream keeps stopping then when I restart it it says I’m streaming on another device so have to wait 2min. Have to start the game from the beginning because it does not remember where it left off. Can’t pick off where you left off, forward winding is as slow as ever. One of the games, sharks vs zebra 2022 march replay they’ve put a 1 min cartoon. Shows incompetence, someone should be getting sacked. Do yourselves a favour go look at Stan sport and try format your program as they’ve done. Sad that you have to use one of your competitors as a benchmark and can’t be the benchmark. Honestly it’s shocking what you put out. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2022-02-19* Constant lagging. How in the name of Christ have you not made an Apple TV app yet? ### 1/5 — Very poorly designed app *2025-05-06, version 4.1* In Australia this is the only way to watch South African teams play. The app however is very poor - the titles of the games do not include dates so it’s a hit and miss to see if you have the latest games to watch. Also shortened replays- mini matches are 20 minutes… that a mini short. There is no option of a highlight vid that’s more representative of the game so you need to watch the whole replay. Am not happy with this app. Lately am also not able to airplay onto TV … ### 1/5 — Costly subscription *2024-10-05, version 4.1* Monthly subscription is not monthly. It is a season pass in which you pay every month for the whole season. I was tricked into this last season. ### 1/5 — Terrible app *2024-09-29, version 4.1* Does not cast. Laggy, slow. Not dependable. Extremely unhappy that this is the only platform to watch URC in Australia. How can I rate in the negative. ### 1/5 — Worst app/sports investment I ever made *2024-08-26, version 4.1* I came back (believe it or not! See below) & signed up for end of 23/24 season (short ) subscription, but no more. Now got an email saying it will auto renew ( never requested!) tried to cancel but impossible via app or via login on their site (there is no ‘manage my subs‘ button as promised by them. Have resorted to writing to ‘support’. BEWARE: these guys are NOT ETHICAL; trust me, this is my umpteenth interaction with them. I came back (after about a year) to see if anything had changed/improved (see my previous review below); sadly, from new reviews, it appears not! This is such a poor advert for Ireland (& obviously RTE) & the URC (how they CAN allow this to continue beats me!) given how strong Irish rugby is at present. The URC is such a good comp, PLEASE GIVE OTHER PROFESSIONAL CHANNELS WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING THE RIGHTS TO BROADCAST THIS! (Review from 2023): My suggestion, BEFORE you pay $$s for this rubbish app read every review you can. From here in Australia the app and URC TV via browser are truly hopeless. I watch sport via Fox/Kayo and Stan Sport and SBS - all in HD quality and all excellent in the way they deliver product. I regretfully paid upfront for an annual subscription; to URC but so wish I had not. I contacted them directly to complain and when they eventually responded the first reaction was blaming my browser and internet connection etc! Once we’d put that to bed they eventually agreed with all my assertions but haven’t actually fixed the important stuff set out in this note. It locks up; it’s fuzzy/blurry when you watch other than a thumbnail. Whatever you do, DO NOT watch something then try to pause and watch later, you’ll get the now infamous URC TV spinning blue dots. I end up watching URC games via highlights on YT or via other ‘pirate’ channels. If you watch via the app it will often lock up. When you switch to the browser version it’ll tell you its open elsewhere so won’t let you watch; so, you’re stuck. I was forced to allocate at least one star to be able to write this review; I don’t think it’s worth that. ### 1/5 — Clunky App *2024-01-06, version 4.0* I’m trying to watch a live game, I’ve joined after it started and can’t fast forward to get to the start of the game, the slider is missing. This is just an example of basic functionality missing with this app in comparison to other sport streaming apps. This is the most expensive of all my sports streaming services with an app that is sub par… I love the URC but find it hard to watch with this tech… ### 1/5 — Dreadful and a bit of a scam *2023-12-01, version 4.0* I subscribed last year and live in Canada. Mainly to watch the SA teams. Started out ok except I couldn’t mirror to my tv. The games were initially mostly available but as the season progressed there were less and less of the SA team games available to watch. I complained and I was told that the Canadian rights had been bought by Sportsnet and the games were therefore not available. This was not something they mentioned before I signed on so was not impressed. ### 1/5 — Worst app ever - not worth 1 star *2023-10-22, version 4.0* Terrible app. Starts at end of the match, locks you out for no reason at all, so many other issues. Waste of money. *2023-10-19, version 4.0* I subscribed at the end of last season and got a deal which included this upcoming season too. I subscribed to watch Connacht in the semi final. Both semi finals and the final were not available in Canada. I got a notice yesterday saying my subscription has ended. So, I paid around $80 for the playoffs for last season and all of this season. Got to watch a total of zero games and now my subscription is cancelled for some reason. Can’t find a contact email on the URC TV site either. Terrible company. Absolute waste of money. ### 1/5 — Terrible app and system *2023-05-27, version 3.0.2* Usually, I refrain from writing reviews. However, due to the lack of customer service and the inability to access the highlights section (aside from the full game), lagging, blurred visuals and disconnections, I have reached my limit. Plus every-time I connect I have login for everything. I have decided not to purchase the pass again as it has proven to be a complete waste of money. Use YouTube for your highlights, and find another system to watch the games. It’s disappointing as I live in a different time zone and was keen to keep up to date. ## Most praised reviews (9 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Need to start again *2023-10-30, version 4.0* *EDIT 2: So one week in. Had to reinstall as one game crashed it but it has been plain sailing ever since. Finally the app is up there with the best of them and thank Christ for that! All the previous issues around loading, streaming, pausing, skipping forwarding/back and content access are ALL resolved. 👍 *EDIT 1: oof this is looking promising. Not changing rating until after the first week but looking like what a sport streaming app should. Fingers crossed! This app is quite simply atrocious and should be taken down immediately until the app is ready. An absolute shambles. I know RTÉ don’t have much funding but this falls well short of what can be considered acceptable. The webpage format is almost as bad. Their first foray into this type of product delivery and it shows at every stage. Very very poor. If there was 0* option it would be getting that. ### 4/5 — App *2023-10-23, version 4.0* Love the new app. It’s so much better then previous versions. No comparison really. Would love it you could download stuff to watch offline. ### 4/5 — Finally An Actual App!!! *2022-01-03* Although it’s great they finally put out an app for the iPhone. They really need to follow up on one for the iPad and Apple TV as well. Cover all the options. ### 3/5 — Needs work *2022-10-23, version 2.1.1* Does what it says on the box. Clunky around the edges. Considering the premium charge a bit better functionality would be ideal. ### 2/5 — Works but could be better *2022-10-19, version 2.1.1* When you cast to Chromecast you can’t pause fast forward or anything. When watching on your device you only have the play and pause options. Why not allow a double tap to fast forward 10 seconds. Also simple fast forward or rewind buttons would be good to. VHS back in the 80’s had more options than this. ### 2/5 — Watch. Crash. Watch. Crash. Crash more. *2022-06-11* It shouldn’t be hard in 2022 to develop an app that replays a recorded match. I don’t even watch these matches live, only the replays, so I hate to imagine how hard it must be with this app to watch anything live. It plays fine for a while, then starts to have issues and then just won’t play and says the match is like 15 seconds long or something stupid. Not sure why I paid for this, but I probably won’t next season if this is the same app ### 2/5 — Need Vast Improvements *2022-03-26* My worse app on my phone. While it is great to have access to all the matches, live and in replay, the Chromecast features need to be beefed up. I see no way to pause the match or to move forward or back in 10 second increments. Furthermore I do not see an AppleTV app. That would be great to have. ### 2/5 — Needs improvement *2021-12-24, version 1.0* Terrible scrubbing within the player. You can’t scrub without pausing it first, it’s very sensitive and will almost always buffer when scrubbing. There are no highlights of matches?
