You make decent money and have a fairly relaxed schedule. If you want to work rideshare in Canada choose Uride. ### 1/5 — Bad app *2026-07-06* Worst app i ever tried ### 1/5 — Not worth it *2026-05-12* The Uride Driver app needs serious improvement, especially from the driver’s side. One of the biggest issues is the pickup and address system. Passengers can enter incomplete or incorrect addresses, or the app/map can send the driver to the wrong pin. When that happens, the driver follows the app exactly, but the passenger gets frustrated and can leave a negative rating as if it was the driver’s fault. That is extremely unfair. Drivers should not be punished for problems caused by the app, the map, the GPS pin, or passengers entering bad pickup information. The rating system also needs to be reviewed. Passengers can rate drivers poorly simply because they are annoyed about address issues, directions, app problems, or pickup confusion. Even when the driver did nothing wrong, the negative rating falls back on us. There should be a better dispute or protection system for drivers when the problem is clearly outside of our control. Another major issue is pay. Drivers already make very little after expenses, and gas prices keep going up. On top of that, Uride recently lowered the fuel surcharge from $1.00 to $0.50, even though the price of gas continues to increase per litre. Drivers are using their own vehicles, paying for their own gas, insurance, maintenance, repairs, tires, brakes, oil changes, and depreciation. There is no proper maintenance compensation, even though the wear and tear on our vehicles is constant. Airport trips are another example of how the system does not fairly compensate drivers. We only get paid to take the passenger from the city to the airport, but the airport is far out on the edge of the city where there usually are not many return rides. Because the app is location-based, drivers often have to drive all the way back into the city to get more trips, and that return drive is unpaid. By the time you factor in the gas and time spent driving back, airport trips can actually cause drivers to lose money. The same problem happens with trips to outside towns. We may get paid to take someone there, but there are usually no rides available in those areas, so we have to drive all the way back to the city unpaid. That means a big part of what we just earned gets spent on fuel just to return to an area where we can actually receive more requests. Overall, the app and pay structure need to be much more driver-friendly. Drivers should not be blamed for app issues, bad pins, incorrect passenger addresses, or poor directions. We also need fairer compensation for fuel, vehicle maintenance, airport trips, and out-of-town rides. Right now, too many costs and problems are being pushed onto the driver while the pay does not reflect the reality of doing the job. ### 1/5 — Uride Driver *2026-04-28* We use our personal cars and are responsible for all maintenance, yet most of what we earn goes directly toward fuel. Sometimes we receive rides worth only $5, and we have to drive up to 10 km just to complete them. You mentioned that time would be added when the “stop” button is used, but that has not been happening. Some passengers are still misusing this feature, and it feels like Uride is not addressing the issue. There is also no one available to answer calls during emergencies. If something happens with a passenger, we receive messages immediately—but where is the support when drivers need help? You make money through us. You stated that the company only keeps 30%, but it feels closer to 50%, with drivers receiving the other 50%. On top of that, too many drivers have been hired, and many stay online all day. This makes it very difficult to earn a reasonable income. What they advertise and what you actually earn are completely different. They claim low commission, but after all deductions, it feels like more than 50% is gone. Then drivers still have to handle 13% HST on top of that. You pay for gas, maintenance, insurance, and your time — yet end up with a small portion of the fare. There is little to no transparency in how earnings are calculated, and important things like proper surcharges don’t always show up. This is not a partnership, it’s a system where drivers carry all the costs while the company takes the benefit. It’s frustrating not being able to accept or manage trips where passengers need to make multiple stops, which limits earning opportunities and creates unnecessary inconvenience for both drivers and riders. The app itself already has issues with lag and reliability, but the absence of something as essential as multi-stop trips makes it feel outdated and incomplete. Drivers are forced to improvise or decline rides that could otherwise be simple and profitable. If URide wants to stay competitive, adding a proper multi-stop feature should be a priority.
