It will not pull accurate info from the DNR site. I cannot load my license or my Hunter Edication number. DNR added info to my account and it shows online but not in the app. The area boundaries are also inaccurate for some hunting areas. Can’t trust the app. Not sure why I keep it downloaded. Paper licenses, tags, and hunter ed cards work better. ### 2/5 — What’s the point *2025-08-30, version 2.3.3* Just a place to “save” your license on your “smart phone”. The one takes photos, screenshots, etc. With countless ways to store and organize said photos, screenshots, etc. of things like licenses. But I can’t renew a license from the app. Really? So taxes were utilized to make an app that has no way of taking money. Great idea except when the app updates it removes all your downloads. I shouldn’t need to check the app every time I go fishing to see if my license is still there. So now, I’ll be still printing off my license so that I don’t have to worry about getting checked and receive a warning because the app updated and removed my downloaded license. Or a ticket. This should be an easy update for senior developers to create a function that will prevent the app from removing downloads. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t download licenses *2023-07-01, version 2.3.1* Pulls up my account, but won’t download my licenses. Tried several times in different ways. Then you try to click on it again, and it makes you login again. It is long overdue for a complete redesign that takes user experience into account. ### 1/5 — Deletes license *2020-12-01, version 1.0.11* I was told by dwr officers that the app can replace paper license and it would stay on device after downloading it. The app randomly deleted all my licenses, and i had just renewed weeks prior and didnt have paper copy yet in the mail. I got ticketed for not having a license even though i have one active. Now i have to carry paper copy every where i go which defeats the purpose of the app. ### 1/5 — Have to Periodically Re-Download Licenses *2020-11-30, version 1.0.11* Every so often I open the app to check that my downloaded licenses are still downloaded and often times they are not and I have to login again and re-download them. What if a DWR officer checked me for a license somewhere where I didn’t have cell service and I opened my phone to discover that my license was not saved/downloaded to my phone? I wish that once I downloaded my license it would stay downloaded and not disappear. ### 1/5 — This app isn’t working *2020-11-21, version 1.0.11* This app deleted all the licenses off my phone and won’t load or work, is says my info to log in doesn’t exists. I don’t know what update happened but this app isn’t working. ### 3/5 — Update needed *2020-08-06, version 1.0.10* I lost my paper license (which I prefer) but it’s nice I could download to my phone so I didn’t have to buy another. As far as the layout goes, MAKE IT SO YOU CAN SWIPE RIGHT TO THE PREVIOUS PAGE!! It is seriously so annoying that you have to scroll to the bottom of the page. ALSO, update the fish species and records. ESPECIALLY, the cutthroat trout, add a picture to the Yellowstone cutty! And add the golden trout in there, considering there is a state record for it!! ### 1/5 — Terrible website terrible app *2020-07-11, version 1.0.10* Don’t waste your time ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Needs some improving *2026-08-11, version 2.3.4* It is difficult to use, the screen is not very usable, it is too small and you have to zoom in way too much. They charge you credit card fee when they should have an option for debit cards. I had to go through it four different times to finally get my fishing license. It needs to be more user-friendly. Plus, they ask for a shipping address when they don’t send the printed copy anymore either. Just stuff that they should fix. The final button is CANCEL and is the largest button, and the YES button to finalize the transaction is small. Poor design. ### 1/5 — Didn’t catch any fish *2026-07-09, version 2.3.4* Terrible app. I didn’t even catch a single fish. Tried deleting and reinstalling the app. Still no luck. Useless app ### 1/5 — Terrible product, nearly unusable *2025-12-01, version 2.3.4* All products made by Utah DWR are terrible. The UI/UX are some of the worst found on the internet and App Store. Not sure if they’ve ever met a designer, let alone heard of one. These products are nearly unusable and the systems are built to take your money. Unfortunately, there’s not an alternative because it’s the government. ### 1/5 — Download app *2024-09-23, version 2.3.2* I have my education certificate and licenses but I can’t get it because of app failure to download when I need it. Especially when game warden requests it, I had to go get reception then pull up AppStore to get it again. ### 1/5 — Seriously Deficient App *2024-08-16, version 2.3.2* I bought a 3-day non resident fishing license. When attempting to add my license, my account cannot be found. I’ve used my DL, SS# and customer ID to no avail. Pretty sad. You can tell it was made by a bunch of ancient people who have no clue how to app development works. It’s impossible to log in every time and it never listens to my inputs. What a nightmare. If I could leave zero stars I would. ### 1/5 — Horrible app *2023-08-25, version 2.3.1* Purchased a fishing license. Payment accepted. Can’t download the license and it can’t locate my account. What a waste. ### 1/5 — FUBAR at DNR *2023-08-17* Never received a paper license so I decided to use this app on my phone for proof of licensing while fishing. So then I dropped my phone in the creek while taking a photo of a massive brownie my buddy caught. Phone was waterlogged and inoperable, and consequently I was deemed unlicensed for the remainder of the day (no paper license on hand). Luckily I wasn’t checked that day by an officer. “Yes I’ll own my mishaps and mistakes.” Now I carry my self printed copy paper license in a Ziplock baggie while afield to keep it dry. What a friggin hassle. Bring back waterproof paper licenses DNR, this e-licensing thing is lame and vulnerable to phone damage and dead batteries.
