In fact I have a German friend that lives next-door, and I went over there and had a complete conversation with him for 20 minutes perfectly! Now he wants to get one! FREE translations. *2020-02-06, version 3.7.5* Ignore negative reviews, folks, these users violated the crystal clear setup instructions. Look, this is a quality build device, like a smartphone. But you MUST slow down and install every aspect sequentially and fully. It is not just ‘plug and play’. Now most people immediately download the app from the App Store. Yet the instructions at the end of the booklet say if you want to translate after the screen is locked you must download from the developers. But, hey, who reads all the instructions before unboxing and trying it, right? My first try got the dreaded “disconnecting” voice prompt when pushing the button. Ahah, the reviews were true! BUT... I noticed the unusual blue screen prompting just before to connect the Bluetooth to a device... and below that was a funny list of letters and numbers. I ignored it (but I should have tapped on them) because I had ALREADY connected my IPhone 6 to the device in my settings screen, and it showed ad “connected”. Ahah, the software is trying to connect to the device separately perhaps? So I went back to the blue screen and tapped the long list of funny numbers, and viola!!! Instant translation success!!! What a wonderful device. Crystal clear and LOUD languages spoken. Easy to use. Intuitive. Louder than my iPhone would be in a noisy environment. Get this translator! No monthly subscription. I didn’t know it required an app or Bluetooth so I’m not a huge fan of that. BUT! So far the device is working and pretty cool! I can speak into it and translate into different languages! I can type and translate! I can take a photograph of text and translate! I like that when you speak into it- the text appears on the app- ensuring that the microphone and app picked up on what you said correctly.
