I use my radar detector when I’m riding my motorcycle so I exclusively rely on the audio alerts. This would help a lot! ### 3/5 — Overall works well, some issues *2024-03-10* Overall this is a good app and works well. However setting a network alerts minimum speed does not work - anything above 0 mph makes it no longer function. Also, if you have multiple detectors, it will only reconnect to the last one - despite having both stored. Wrote the developer on these issues and didn’t even get a courtesy response, hence the lower star rating. Maybe the one item will never work and maybe the second is by design, who knows, at least it would have been nice to be acknowledged after taking the time to send a write up and screen shots. ### 3/5 — Annoying *2022-06-10, version 2.0.65* For me, every time I am using it, my info screen keeps saying I’m calling myself. The gps savvy function is great. I find acquiring gps signal from the phone is much faster than Escort’s gps on the unit. Many times, my Escort 360 would not get a gps signal. Which would prevent me from enabling gps lockout. With this app working in unison with the V1 gen2, lockouts can be performed instantaneously. Please note that this gps signal acquisition issue may not be apparent to the newer Escort models. My experience here is with my first generation Escort 360 and V1 gen2. The later 360c or Redline 360 might have better or stronger gps modules. ### 5/5 — Excellent *2021-10-01* The integration with Valentine’s V1 gen 2 is flawless — including audio while connected to Bluetooth. The audible cues, apple watch notifications and histogram/map are also fantastic and useful teethes —makes up for the lack of GPS in both the v1 and v1 gen2, creating a seamless package that just works, and works well. 👏🏻 Savvy GPS learn is also a game-changer. The level of customization for the enthusiast or expert is simple and no-nonsense. The one or two negative reviewers seem to think this is about “beefing up” the v1 or v1 gen2, when in reality the purpose of this app is to lessen your need to interact with your v1 by providing audible cues and other useful information. It does offer the ability to customize m quite heavily if you should choose to do so - and I can verify the audio touting works flawlessly in any vehicle I have used it in. ### 5/5 — Must have for V1G2 *2021-08-07* This app is well worth its price and is a must have for the V1G2. Works as intended and I’ve had no issues at all running the app. It adds a ton of features to the V1 that would otherwise be missing. There is no instructional support, just some random poorly recorded videos that really don’t explain anything. There are pop up explainers for each setting, but they are poorly written and ambiguous. There are a ton of settings that leave you with a ridiculous learning curve and too many variables to manage. The default settings are so aggressive that they mute everything, INCLUDING REAL RADAR! Even after killing all the automute settings it still identifies real radar as a false, which can be verified by the location pins it stores. This totally undermines the reasons of having a detector. Those who praise its silence are missing the point of the full situational awareness of the V1 and are likely also missing real threats. Total waste of money. ### 1/5 — Waste of Money *2025-05-15, version 3.0.8* This app is a waste of money. Half the features don’t work and support is ABSOLUTELY non-existent. I’ve reached out to their support through their website, but no one has responded. Not sure what else to do. Already paid for the app. ### 1/5 — APP doesn’t work unless it’s in the forefront *2021-10-12* Bought this app to control false alarms via it’s GPS tracking. Apparently this only works if this is open on your phone while driving. Haven’t had it tag anything new while running in the background. While I’m at it, messages/ guides the app gives make no sense. Developers should take some courses in UI design and feedback to the user. Half the messages I get make zero sense. Perhaps the developers need to invest some time in a user guide than poor usage popups. **Developer response:** Absolutely works in background. Make sure ALL Permissions are enabled in the phones Settings for V1Driver and Location is Always and Precise. It may take a few manual launches to train iOS to start it in background automatically. It takes a few weeks for it to build up a database. Make sure GPS accuracy is not RED (or it won't log record anything). Nice grift ### 2/5 — Disappointing App *2022-09-17* With all the potential of creating an app for the V1 and especially the V1 Gen 2, to not have the ability to change settings, set custom frequencies, adjust volume is a little perplexing. Pros: It connects seamlessly, reliably, and automatically. The lock outs work pretty good, and are smarter than built in lock outs on other detectors. Has nifty auto muting features. Cons: The voice announcements don’t work well, the default speed is too slow and the adjustments are too steep. Just adjusting one point above default and the speech is too fast. In addition there is a voice announcement for a signal when the signal is dropped but immediately reacquired. We don’t need to have repeated announcements for the same signal, use a time buffer or something. ESavvy interferes with lockouts. Anytime ESavvy is actively muting, it doesn’t learn the stationary false alerts that are being detected and displayed. Manual lockouts don’t have an option to be unlearned. They are there even if the false alert is no longer valid. There is no alert log. You get pins. For what, I cannot figure out. I would think people would rather have a proper log that can be mapped versus pins that may or may not drop properly or see “duds”. You can’t change volume with it. You can’t change the settings of the detector. You can’t set custom frequencies. There are no profiles or ways to change app or detector settings based on location. Why not? I hope the app progresses as it has a lot of potential and has some great things as a foundation. I look forward to more updates. **Developer response:** There is no need to add GPS Lockouts while you are driving around in parking lots. If by chance you do drive above savvy it will add GPS Locks and will update even when below Savvy from then on. I try to minimize waste in the database for efficiency and keep clutter down on the map. ESavvy doesn't interfere, it's by design. There are two Volumes you can set under Sound Settings. You can also adjust Sound in your car (there are multiple) while V1Driver is talking. You can also use the Sound Check button in V1Driver to verify everything. Manual lockouts are for when you DON'T want them unlearned. If you want automatic unlearn, then let it automatically learn. You can filter the Map by time and see what happened recently. Kind of boring reading through alerts. Visual map is more helpful. Yikes, didn't know about the Voice speed issue, good catch. Thx. This is now fixed. ### 2/5 — Very Confusing- Something V1 is not. *2019-12-04* I purchased This app with the hope of adding some additional useful features to aid me while driving many, many highway miles. I've had my first V1 since 2009 and have upgraded since to the ESP version with BluetoothLE as well. Although V1 has an app that is quite Simple to use and is very useful to drivers, I thought there was more to gain from this app. I won't be ignorant and say it doesn't work because I am sure it does. It just lacks fluidity and user friendly function. I don't know what I am changing or what features are available thru this app - it is just poorly executed from a user standpoint. I am all for beefing up V1 as much as possible, however this app needs redeveloped from the ground up. Face it Sir - you can do a lot better. Quite honestly, this is a joke. I feel like I am making a MySpace profile again. That's the best way I can describe this app's approach to being user friendly and just needs reworked. Maybe even CarPlay integration? You can do better - what would MikeV. do? **Developer response:** Perhaps you should give it more time like the other 55 Reviewers that give it 5-Stars You typically don't need to change any setting in V1Driver. V1Driver has one main goal, allow you to focus on driving with minimal unnecessary interruptions from your Valentine One. It does this by automatically locking out Fixed K-Band Falses, automuting and speed based muting. V1Driver also has Audio integration which is more advanced than most apps like this do. But what you might have to do is setup your V1 for optimal performance with V1Driver by following this guideline. http://v1driver.com/v1driverCustomizeV1.html V1Driver does detect CarPlay and changes its Audio routing algorithm accordingly. Apps like V1Driver are not allowed to display on CarPlay yet. Only Navigation Apps, Music apps or Podcast Apps. I’ve been running this combo for 4 years now and feel completely naked when I am without it. Introducing V1. This takes a device my wife detests (…”turn that thing off”) into one that is infinitely ‘smarter, more user/passenger friendly, quieter, more ‘tinkerable’ and makes driving safer. I have been an RD user for decades, and only recently learned of this app magic. I now have an R8 so I have plenty of learning to do between it and this app but so far so good. My only concern about this app and apps like it are what happens when, in this case, George Mills, the developer, no long wants to play with his app anymore. Let’s just ignore that thought for now. This app is a miracle though. ### 5/5 — v1 driver vs r8 companion san antonio texas *2024-01-22, version 3.0.5* had both. r8 was a little more user friendly at first but my R8 has been going nuts with these new ka k band traffic sensors and cameras it was learning but it kept chirping to let me know it was quieting the problem is they turn these sensors on and off depending on traffic. but v1 driver has a keep demuted feature if they become too much of a problem. but thank you v1 driver. i was about to just unplug my brand new r8 and leave it for trips out into the hill country. but it has gotten a hold of all this nonsense the city has started implementing mid december-jan 1 2024. sorry to any traveling here. but 281 is a nightmare. now. for false positives on every entry and exit ramp ### 5/5 — Game Changer *2023-12-14, version 3.0.4* CarPlay would be so cool ### 5/5 — It takes a lot to get a review from me *2023-11-11, version 3.0.4* If you own a Valentine 1, this is a must have. Automatic GPS lockouts work far more reliably, in depth configuration for voice alerts, a genius automatic alert snoozing system for persistent alerts that drop in and out, background connect to the R8 without needing to open the app. There is even a fully map interface you can use to see all of your past alerts, GPS lockout progress, etc. the user interface is intuitive and every single thing is explained to you with a tooltip when interacting with that area of the system. ### 5/5 — CarPlay maybe? *2022-03-27, version 2.0.65* If the developer added just basic navigation features so that it could be added to CarPlay, this app would be perfect, and I would be willing to pay twice as much for it. ### 5/5 — V1 is awesome!
