However, there are too much bugs and errors. Each battle takes awhile and having to repeat battles just to get the heroic stars for chests is a real turn off, and the heroic battles are just the same battles with enemies having skills. I would expect an added element or something more appealing like finishing before a certain turn or more enemies and whatnot. Character skills are basic and everyone basically has the same skills depending on their class so customization seems lackluster. Aura links take so long to the already slow paced battles and lack real progression unless its a healing or attacking aura link. Debuffs and buffs rarely even make it so it takes one more/less attack to kill or save your unit. Im on Chapter 8 and needing to advance the airship takes forever. Aesthetics 8/10 Models look great art is good Story 7-10 Mildly enjoyable wish there was a bit more dialogue and bit more fleshing out of the story Gacha rate is 3% which is pretty decent and I’m having no trouble acquiring gems to roll I’m sure there will hit a cap sometime soon they did put some percentage stat upgrades in skins which is generally a sign of p2w but I have 2 skin sets f2p. If you like fire emblem and/or waifus this is for us ### 3/5 — Good but a lateral move rather than an upgrade *2023-05-08, version 1.7.3* I love the VF series; played VF 1 and Shining Beyond A LOT. This game is an ode to those two and is fun in its own right. That being said, the models are out dated and I feel they could have done much better. SB had 3D models, I felt this should too, but more toward Archeland or HSR grade. The UI is a bit clunky. Shard system feels less friendly that in previous iterations. Early progression is kind of slow with character strength not feeling great increases when you ARE able to level. Overall Good but needs some QOL. ### 3/5 — P2W beware *2023-05-07, version 1.7.3* The game itself isn’t bad. I kind of liked it but this game is heavy on p2w. I really hate pity systems because they make it ridiculously expensive just to get a nice character. Since it’s on a pity system, the rate of getting a high rarity character is cut to almost impossible to get until the pity kicks in and just think about it when you have to get multiple of it to boost it. What a disappointment. I couldn't even get past the very first fight. It tells you to tap on the enemy in the red square. Simple, right? So i do…only nothing happens. The arrow pointing to the enemy is still there along with the prompt. So i try again…same thing. I click again and again, even exiting out of the game and redownloaded the app, with the same results. I got so frustrated i started tapping on everything i could, but nothing happened. It was like the game was frozen, only sometimes the squares would highlight randomly (never the enemy one, though) and all the sprite animations were still running. Not sure if this is a bug or what, but it soured my experience immediately. First impressions are the make or break for a game, and this was definitely broken. ### 1/5 — EOS *2023-07-29* Dont waste your time. I can see the cursor register when I tap on other areas of the tactical grid, but not the enemy the tutorial says to attack. Progress blocked, cannot get into game. Shame, art looks cool. ### 1/5 — Not Very Optimized *2023-06-20* Game heats your phone up incredibly fast to a point where it just feels like you are holding a mini oven in your hands. Sometimes the game can freeze, or animations completely break. Those are currently the more major problems right now. Otherwise, enjoy the game if you’d like. ### 1/5 — What a waste of time *2023-05-17, version 1.7.3* Let’s be honest not the greatest tactical rpg on the app market WotV is superior in almost every way gameplay, graphics, visual, story, music, customer service and polish this game has freezing issues aswell because of animated cutscenes fail to load at times doing specials. The gacha rates are atrocious definitely worst than the listed 3% (i had 42 10x rolls consecutive and not a single ssr), pity is at 200 pulls which is very bad on timed banners. WotV is superior with its pity system which is arguably the best in the gacha market Valiant Force 2 is Genshin tier rates with a worse pity system. The problem is, it’s not sustainable at all. The game overheats phones easily, stages freeze, and sometimes the game won’t load where it froze so you have to restart. It’s really a shame because aside the objectification of some of the women in the game, it’s a very solid tactics concept. The studio behind this really fumbled releasing with all of these bugs. Which are obtained from season pass and few maybe though dust that can be earned 8 every so often. Makes this game a pass and recommend people play honkai star rail. Have a blast on that game even though no pvp. But the game is dubbed, pity is 300 for select a character, but every 100 is a random 5 star character or relic. Story for honkai is great. Worst time to release a game when most people be playing honkai as it’s same company that made genshin impact so it had to be another great game. Otherwise this game not bad, but not dubbed, pay to win with skins and more. Just letting people know. So when it shut down I was really bummed, and when I heard Valiant Force 2 was coming out, I was so excited. Unfortunately it is very disappointing. Good thing first: the new link system and battle system is quite fun, but also not really something that would draw me in long term, at least not by itself. The story is drawn out and so very boring, so much so that I started skipping shortly into the game. I tried to re-engage with the story but it just got nowhere. And then suddenly Valiant Force 2 is just another gacha game with a single draw and everything else is bland. The upgrade systems are uninspiring and there is no real sense of achievement or me wanting to strive for something. It is just a chore playing the game. The art at a glance is nicer than v1, but character-wise, looks like a downgrade. Specifically the SSR characters. Freya is one of the worse examples. Ironically the lower rarity characters look pretty good. But yeah coming from some beautiful characters in v1, v2 character art is very meh. As much as I hate to say this… v2 disappointed greatly. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Fair and Engaging *2023-06-17* A rare gem in the gacha scene that has good story, great art, fun gameplay and doesn’t feel like its constantly trying to rob you blind. The dynamic between the main two characters has been very enjoyable, the story has been fairly engaging. Early on the, arresting the heroes of the previous game plot is pretty cool due to the dramatic irony of knowing that those heroes are genuinely the good guys. However, if I had any complaints, the game starts to be a bit to self-referential for those of us who never played the first game. Half the plots start feeling like a promo for a game thats no longer available. That said Felix and Elise do a good job of carrying the plot. I’m about halfway through the available story and do hope they add a third long term characters to the dynamic though. The biggest con for me with gacha games is that they often are so eager to keep selling the audience on the new character of the month that no one ever sticks with the main party long enough to really get attached to. Overall the game is fun and challenging. Aura system encourages team building (even tho upgrading new chars is hard), character art is really nice. It has the look of a game you actually need to play and does have strategy. I’m enjoying it and I suggest saving up to 21,000 gems from the start of the game inorder to get the 70 summon ssr. They give lots of gems in the beginning of the game so getting to that amount should be easy.
