The app started getting a bit boring, I think we should be able to text other schools too. But maybe we can’t due to safety reasons, it would be pretty fun though. I just think there’s something missing… we should be able to call and be able to link social media to our Valid easily. I’m not telling I’m suggesting!! This app has great potential, to become a widespread app. Also we should make another feature where the upcoming freshman’s can be able to get to know each other, with prompts it will be a great way to make new friends. And there should be a thing where you can see the persons profile picture, when doing the polls. That will help a bunch, I’m brainstorming right now. I enjoy getting to see what people think of me! Although, I feel like helpful and interesting features for 10.99 a WEEK is too much. I understand that the money goes towards the app’s development, but that’s 40$ a MONTH. I’ve also heard about the “god mode giveaways”, but from what I heard, there is only one winner and I am unsure as to how long you get god mode for if you do win. While god mode should still cost money, it should be a bit cheaper. Besides that, this app is totally worth seeing what thoughts people have about you that you might’ve never have guessed. This is not SRO approved!! ### 1/5 — VERY Concerning Privacy Practices *2026-08-24* I received a text stating that a classmate had sent me a compliment through Valid, despite never having the app installed or creating an account. This immediately raised concerns about how my phone number and school information were associated with the platform. I downloaded the app to investigate and found that it requires users to provide a phone number and grant access to contacts in order to use the service. I was unable to find a meaningful alternative sign-in option that allowed me to use the app without providing this information. The app also requests location access, which seems unnecessary for a platform whose primary purpose is allowing students to send compliments. I am especially concerned about younger users who may not fully understand the privacy implications of giving an app access to their contacts, phone number, location, or other personal information simply to use a social feature. Apps intended for students should make privacy protections and data collection practices extremely clear and should not pressure users into providing more information than is reasonably necessary. I cannot determine how my information became associated with the app, and I am not claiming that the app is a scam or that it is involved in criminal activity. However, the combination of unsolicited messages, required personal information, contact access, and location requests was enough to make me uncomfortable. I would STRONGLY encourage parents and students to review the app’s privacy practices and permissions carefully before signing up. I do not like the fact I was included in the polling system without my consent. If they had sent me a message just inviting me to take part in it I wouldn’t be as opposed, but it just automatically created a profile so that people can vote about me. This system can be dangerous. You should require everyone to consent to this before people can start voting. Again, seems like a fun way to build community, but there should be consent. ALSO. Why does it take five days for my account to be deleted? ### 1/5 — Privacy Concern, Calling on Developer *2026-08-15* This app is well made, I’ll give them that. My main concern is where is my privacy. I start receiving text messages from this company saying someone has “voted” for you on “valid”. What is that? I was confused and supposed it was spam. Then one of my friends invites me to the service. At this point I’m worried because I’ve never been associated or given ANY INFORMATION to this company. Somehow, they are messaging me and list my name on their site. So I join to figure out what is going on. I have to agree to share my contacts. I think nothing of it. I can remove permissions any time. Then I see people have voted for me. How’d they vote for me without me registering? My name and information should not be on here without my permission. I don’t care what the intentions are. With this getting popular, it’s important we call on an answer. So I ask the developers to leave me a response and explain the situation. With a response, the review will be altered to a 4-5 star level and I will decide whether I will continue to use the service. This is simply a matter about my safety in an ever growing digital world. **Developer response:** Hi Sawyer! I believe our team also spoke with you over email. To clarify, classmates can vote for someone who is already saved in their contacts, even if that person has not created a Valid account. Your phone number or other contact information is never shown publicly—only the contact name provided by the person who has you saved. As mentioned over email, we’re also happy to remove and suppress your information so you can no longer be selected through other users’ contacts. ### 1/5 — Sleazy *2026-08-14, version 1.411* In order to promote the app, they bought information about my school and phone number and sent me a text message that claimed someone on the app complimented me (which I highly doubt, given there’s hardly anyone from my school on here). It’s a cool idea, but this behavior immediately turned me off it. This is unacceptable. Even if you don’t sign up it still has your name and it lets ppl bully and vote on you it tracks your location.
