I’ll stick with Happy Cow to keep the vegan community strong, keep all the restaurant and food information fresh and consolidated in the place where they exist now. The price of the Happy Cow app is tiny compared to the value it provides and it’s less than what I tip a great waiter at a restaurant anyway. I wish I could give more to happy cow for all the great meals it’s provided me and my family. I wish vanilla bean would focus on the unmet needs of the community instead.... there are so many! It must be so hard to come to work everyday to work on someone else’s idea, and to live in the shadow of another app that works well and has served the vegan community since for 20 years. In my experience it’s much more fun and gratifying to work on original ideas and to be innovative, creative and ground-breaking. Investors almost never make money from investing in copy cats, and creators almost never get satisfaction from replication. As someone who’s been In the restaurant business I am amazed at how many people use happycow across the world and how many millions of Happy Cow stickers are on the windows of local businesses across the world. I can never see that vibrant network being recreated by Vanilla Bean unfortunately... there’s no community in the app either. ### 3/5 — An sich ganz gut... *2019-11-05, version 1.9.1* Die App zeigt viele vegane und vegetarische Lokale in der Umgebung an und bietet sich demnach sehr gut als alternativen zur kostenpflichtigen Happy-Cow-App. Es gibt jedoch ein paar Dinge, die nicht funktionieren oder nicht schlüssig erscheinen: 1. Der Zurück-Button funktioniert nicht. Ich muss die App jedes Mal neustarten, wenn ich zur letzten Ansicht gelangen möchte. Vor allem in dem Menü zum Erstellen neuer Locations nervt das sehr! 2. Der "Suche erweitern"-Button erschließt sich mir nicht so ganz, wird da nur aus der Karte ein bisschen herausgezoomt und nach neuen Orten gesucht? Den Button könnte man sich sparen, man zoomt doch eh mit dem Finger rein und raus. 3. Die Karte lädt die Ortsmarkierungen erst, sobald man einen bestimmten Maßstab erreicht hat UND auf "Hier suchen" geklickt hat. Eine dynamische Karte mit ständig aktualisierten Daten und ein Cluster-Markering mit der Anzahl an verfügbaren Orten wäre hilfreich. So zoomt man raus und denkt es würde (wie in meinem Fall) nur in Berlin vegane Restaurants geben. UPDATE: Wird die App hier noch weiterentwickelt? Das letzte Update kam vor 7 Monaten. Wäre echt schade. ### 4/5 — Fast perfekt *2025-01-02, version 1.10.0* Super App, ansprechendes Farbkonzept (im krassen Gegensatz zur Beta Test Version - das geht echt gar nicht - Telekom lässt grüßen 👎), erfüllt fast alle Funktionen. Aber eben nur fast. Mir fehlt die Filtermöglichkeit „barrierefrei“ und/oder „Rollstuhl geeignet“. Outdoor Sitzplatz Möglichkeit lässt sich ja auch filtern 🙃 ### 4/5 — Super, aber Luft nach oben *2021-06-02, version 1.9.8* Super viele Restaurants wurde schon aufgenommen, aber bei manchen fehlen sämtliche Angaben zur Speisekarte z. B., oder die Öffnungszeiten stimmen nicht :) Und was man auf jeden Fall noch einbauen sollte: eine Favouriten-Funktion, mit der man sich Restaurants für später speichern kann.
