### 3/5 — Why can’t you hide the toolbar?

*2024-06-16, version 33.6*

Completely ruins the experience on iPad.

### 2/5 — Multiple issues

*2023-10-01*

Too bad I have problems accessing this app way too often. It crashes since installing iOS 17, but had problems before as well. Invest some money in your digital presence please.

### 2/5 — Old app allowed searching this one doesn’t

*2021-09-27*

Old fashioned app

No way of sorting the articles by subject or length

Formatting on iPhone is terrible

### 3/5 — Things have changed.

*2021-04-20, version 33.3*

I think it is the selection of stories.
They are more “distant” from the real world - detached. Adventurous, perhaps.
But that is not what I loved under Mr Carter.
Yes .....I loved the insights provided into the events and stories of the real world.

### 1/5 — Unreadable because of app design

*2020-11-16*

I love the content of Vanity Fair. But man, I just wanna read the articles in a comfortable, easy to read format. This app can’t do that for me. It’s nothing more than a glorified scan. It’s wildly uncomfortable to read in a digital format. It’s unfortunate, because the content is great. But this app is so badly designed it’s totally unusable. I have a handful of other magazine apps, all of which have been adapted to the format. Why can’t Condé Nast do it? I bought a year-long digital subscription. I wish I hadn’t.

### 2/5 — BRING GRAYDON CARTER BACK

*2020-08-20*

the magazine has become lightweight since Carter left. I hate the new format and I am contemplating cancelling my subscription

### 3/5 — Quite a bad app but great VF content

*2020-05-13*

The page links are not accurate and don’t take you to the right page. The magazine is just a scan of the paper copy which is terribly formatted for iPad. They need to have it designed to read on an iPad. Fit the pages properly, have the pictures set up properly. A lot of work needs to be done to the app. Great content though

### 1/5 — Retrograde user experience

*2020-05-11, version 33.3*

The iPad app is terrible now. Upgrades should be an improvement, not harder and clunkier to use.

### 1/5 — Please fix the app

*2020-03-14, version 33.2*

I used to love reading the magazine on the app but am finding it too small and frustrated with the fact it is the same as print format i.e. the end the article is pages in but not easy to get to. Please fix!

### 2/5 — Disappointing

*2020-02-23*

It feels like it’s just screen grabs of the hard copy magazine. There doesn’t seem to be any additional functionality such as the ability to jump to an article from the index at its most basic. For a prestigious title and publishing house in the second decade of internet publishing this is ridiculous.

### 1/5 — From bad to worse

*2019-10-15*

It’s turned from an elegant interactive magazine into a pdf file and I can no longer access my purchased 2012 issues which are no longer available along with recent issues that I subscribed and spent an entire morning contacting Apple to get a refund on each disappeared issue that requested a re purchase !

### 1/5 — Incredibly poor performance

*2019-09-25, version 33.2*

The app is absolutely infuriating and it went from awful to unbearable (when you think it could not decline any further), with the chopped layout of photos and miniature text, mislabelled pages, no interactive features etc etc etc. I gave it 5 years. Had to cancel my subscription in the end.

### 1/5 — Hopeless

*2019-09-24, version 33.2*

I’m not a fan of the updated VF ap. The old one was wayyyy better. Easy to navigate and read. You could tap a article heading on the front cover and it would take you straight to the article.. this format is hopeless, the page numbers in the drop down box don’t align to the page numbers in the articles and the layout of the pages makes it hard to read on an iPad as you keep having to move it around. Not sure how any one or the developers thought this version was an improvement... I use it minimally and only if I’m desperate to read something 🤬

### 1/5 — Needs work

*2019-07-26*

I have subscribed but have two different customer numbers and I’ve emailed repeatedly about merging accounts and nothing but crickets. I’d like to read the issues from my latest subscription but can’t as it will only recognise one account without tech support

### 1/5 — Cutting edge to bottom of the barrel

*2019-04-10, version 33.2*

As far as magazine apps go, VF was fantastic, so much interactivity. Twitter feeds embedded, interactive diagrams, fantastic user centred design at work! I’d been a long term print subscriber and switched to the digital edition and loved it.
Then... what happened? Since March 2018 it’s like the work experience kid put the print edition on the scanner and they published that! Gone are the accessible features, scrolling is a nightmare and even trying to zoom to read it is cumbersome. Along with a completely unnecessary masthead and cover rethink, the app is awful. Is it analog cool? It’s cover to cover stupid design decisions and I have cancelled my subscription.

### 1/5 — miley cyrus

*2019-03-25*

it doesn’t display well on the iphone screen

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-01-22*

I downloaded the app and almost instantly deleted it. It's literally the pages of the magazine on your phone screen. You have to flick through six pages of ads before you get to anything. Then it's far too tiny to read. Really poor.

### 1/5 — Appalling customer service

*2024-12-24, version 33.6*

Astonishing complex to get information on your subscription order cancel. Do not subscribe.

### 1/5 — Just terrible

*2024-03-12, version 33.6*

The worst digital publication app ever developed.

### 1/5 — The devs should be sacked!

*2024-02-15, version 33.5*

An beautiful yet elegant monstrosity that routinely locks subscribers out and constantly requests payment for editions already paid for.

### 1/5 — The app doesn't work won’t open

*2023-10-01, version 33.3*

I want to see my vanity fair magazines that I bought again 😿

### 1/5 — Cannot link to VF articles on Twitter

*2023-05-28, version 33.3*

Easily subscribed to VF via AppStore so I can access articles on Twitter. It’s proving difficult if not impossible. Days spent negotiating with online customer service with no result. Ready to cancel.

### 1/5 — The app is dead

*2023-02-01*

The app does not show you anything. Can’t log in, can’t see My Account section, or anything at all. Links inside the Help section get you to an Error page. Fantastic!

### 1/5 — This app is literally useless.

*2022-05-19*

Pages are cropped by the notch. Top bar blocks content. Just delete this and refer to the website. The lack of quality makes me consider quitting my subscription. Icing on the cake is that there is no other app in GER and it’s only possible to read the magazine.

### 1/5 — The format

*2021-07-09*

I love vanity fair however the format for the ap is terrible it makes reading un enjoyable experience This really needs to be reviewed as I will not be renewing in the future if this is not rectified which is such a shame

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2021-05-13*

App remains malfunctioning for years. Despite readers complaining about it, Conde Nast doesn’t seem bothered to fix.
Content unreadable on iPad and iPhone XR, despite settings being adjusted: page doesn’t fit the screen but rather is pushed up to the top of the page.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great to have on hand

*2021-11-26, version 33.3*

Enjoy ing

### 5/5 — Vanity fair on iPad

*2019-09-02*

So far absolute GARBAGE - what a dreadful design almost purposely designed to be unhelpful and awkward

### 5/5 — Reading this for years. Years!!!

*2019-02-20, version 33.2*

It’s the only magazine I read.

### 5/5 — Vanity Fair

*2018-11-04, version 33.1*

This is still the best magazine, the subjects are fascinating, the writing is great and never boring. It keeps you informed as it always has. Best interviews.

### 5/5 — Downloads

*2018-08-01, version 33.0*

Why did i have to again download already downloaded issues when you updated the app? Thumbs down VF

### 5/5 — Dr

*2017-04-04, version 32.6.1.97.102896*

Apalling! I have the same problem - can't get new editions on my iPad and password retrieval can't be done due to 'internet connection' not working. My annual subscription is ticking away without me actually reading the magazine.

### 5/5 — Not currently working in IOS8.1

*2014-10-22, version 31.3.4.80*

The Vanity Fair app does not currently open properly in IOS8.1. Despite my subscription, I'm currently just getting a blank screen. Would be great if this could be fixed - thanks :)

### 4/5 — Please typeset your content for the screen

*2022-04-28, version 33.3*

Don’t use arbitrary text columns. Text should be zoomable and always fill the screen – panning a zoomed page to find the next paragraph detracts from my reading experience.

Use high–resolution, full screen images. VF photography is so lush and this app is not doing it justice.

Don’t split articles and bury the text in a “ghetto” at the back of the magazine. Digital means you don't need to, and your readers have always resented this.

Another Conde Nast publication has a fantastic app that recreates the experience wonderfully – Wired. Wouldn't it be fantastic if all magazines read like this. A better digital experience might also save the world – no paper, no shipping; pure stories and imagery.

### 4/5 — Do not like new format

*2018-04-25, version 33.0*

I have been an App subscriber & have enjoyed VF for many years. But I am not enjoying the new format especially having to go to the end of the magazine to finish reading articles, then trying to remember where to go back to for the next article. Also the print is much small than previously. It’s no longer a pleasurable read😕

### 4/5 — Most ridiculous app.

*2016-02-18, version 32.3.0.83*

This App only managed to frustrate me month after month. I am a full subscriber when I try to print the most recent month on the Newsstand always get the old month and sometimes a 2 monte old version. VF please get your act together. Thanks frustrated and annoyed customer. R
this gets worse as time rolls on - please do something- every month now I manage to get a preview of first 5 pages - then what????
Have to wait for days before I get my full magazine sometimes long after it has been in news agency for days and days. Please tell me what is the point in subscribing? Please show common courtesy and respond if you genuinely want to look after your customers. It is only just old fashioned customer service or is that now out of fashion as well. Thanks r. Just do something. !!!!!
