As other people have said it would be nice if it saved the settings when a phone connects to the wifi so you can just connect everytime without having to go through the three step of how to connect to the wifi. It would be great to be able to update date the fireware of the cam through the app rather than having to take out the SD card, put in your computer to put the firmware update on it. Then put the SD card back in the cam and having to format the SD card after the firmware update is complete. I was going to give this cam a 1 star till I saw the firmware update that fixes the mph being displayed wrong. Waiting till my next drive to see if it fixed it. 99 mph when actually doing 63 is a bit off. Here's hoping. Make the 2 improvements at the beginning of this review and I'll give it a 5 star ### 2/5 — Need work *2023-02-15, version 2.0.28* It works but definitely is not a smooth experience. ### 4/5 — Easy to use with just a few improvements needed *2023-01-13, version 2.0.25* I downloaded the app to use with my Element 3 cameras. The app is very stable and allows you to adjust all of the camera settings through the app rather than using on device buttons. The couple of changes I would like to see are: 1. Ability to disable the 3 screen demo to connection demo every time you enter the app 2. Ability to zoom in on the videos 3. Ability to view saved videos in 3 screen overlay mode, similar to what you can do with live video These are just preferences that would make the experience better, but the application in it’s current state allows you to do what a dash cam app should do. ### 3/5 — Good dashcam app - but could be great! *2022-12-30, version 2.0.25* This app is a good way to wirelessly interact with my Vantrue E2 dashcam. Once you connect to the camera’s built-in WiFi, you can view and download videos/photos and change your camera’s settings. Much more convenient than removing the camera from my car and plugging into a PC. During video playback it’s cool to see your GPS position track on the integrated Google Maps window. That said, the app could use some improvements: 1. Allow user to view videos/photos in landscape mode 2. Allow zoom in/out on videos and photos 3. Allow users the option of disabling the three-screen instruction tutorial on app startup. This is a waste of time for frequent users. 4. The app should remember the built-in WiFi network name of your saved devices and prompt you to connect to that network when you select the device. That would save a lot of time swiping into Settings, changing to the Vantrue WiFi network, then swiping back to the app. 5. Change “Sync” wording in the Album to “download,” “Save to Photos,” a downward arrow, or something that better indicates you will be saving the selected videos/photos to your device. “Sync” makes it sound like you are syncing with the dashcam. ### 4/5 — App with E1 van-true wifi cam *2022-12-16, version 2.0.25* The app is great in my opinion. I love how you are able to view videos from your phone without having to remove the micro SD card from the camera. You do have to be in range of the camera to control it in anyway, though. I recommend the app for any van-true camera user! ### 2/5 — Preview doesn’t work with version 2.0.25 *2022-12-04, version 2.0.25* Everything works except videos preview. It spins in attempt to load (buffer) the video but the preview is blank and doesn’t play. I have to download the video to my phone to view. I wish this gets fixed soon. ### 5/5 — Working Great With Element 2 (E2) *2022-10-11, version 2.0.23* (App v2.0.23) I have a VanTrue E2 and all app functions are working great. Ensure you are using the latest app and firmware on your camera. Turn on the camera WiFi then connect your iPhone/iPad to the camera’s WiFi. Once your connected then open the VanTrueCam app. All app features are then available. To share videos/snapshots click on the scissors at the bottom of the screen. This will bring up the edit/share options. You can also download the videos and snapshots with the album button. After that the app will let you copy them to the photo gallery on your phone. There is only 2 things I feel the developers need to address… #1 is you cannot view snapshots in landscape mode. The picture remains the same size. #2 is you cannot zoom in while while view a video. It brings up a brightness menu. I think a menu item on the lower menu next to the scissors for brightness/contrast would be better. Allow the 2 fingers to zoom in/out would be better. Thanks again. ### 5/5 — New review *2022-10-01, version 2.0.23* I had recently rated this app 1 star. Vantrue support reached out to me and were very receptive to my input. The techs fixed the wifi issue and now everything works as it should. I do like the wifi feature very much and I’m happy support fixed the issue quickly. There aren’t many companies that will listen to their customers but Vantrue came through. I have 2 dash cams (N4 and E2) and I can tell you they stand up to direct sunlight and getting beat around my cars. For those people that are still having issues, make sure you updated the app to the latest version (V2.0.22) and you also updates the Firmware (VT-EBH-311) on the camera itself. The firmware will need to be updated on your computer. Both pieces need to be updated. I am running this cam on my iPhone 12. **Developer response:** We apologize for this unpleasant experience. Every time I start my car, I have to connect my iPhone to see anything on my phone. I have to disable CarPlay in order for images to show on my iPhone. Was hoping it would record motion when I’m away from my car and alert me on my phone. Ugh, I wish I could return this dash cam and get my money back for the install. Hope there are plans to update the firmware. Also no customer support available. I left two messages and no one contacted me. Come on, you guys can do better. ### 1/5 — Crashes on iPhone 6s and iOS 12 *2023-02-02, version 2.0.28* App crashed before the latest Feb 2023 update and after I updated just now. Never opens. Once i get the app on my phone, the camera cant get any access to the wifi. Im believing this dashcam does not have a built in wifi or a bluetooth. I just updated the firmware and then I was pleased to see the app connect without having to push the button on the camera to enter WiFi mode!! It was mildly annoying having to redo my WiFi password and other settings but it was made that much easier by the app connecting right away. **Developer response:** We are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience caused. Connects to my dashcam right away and shows me the live video. I can also change the settings super fast. App shows the drive on google maps. When connecting to camera had to make sure WiFi is on and connecting devices connects to the right ssid. Afterwards I had to switch back to my regular internet connection for the app to display the map properly. Overall good app to connect to camera without using physical wire connection or card reader.
