Also a lot of scammers. Beware of messages asking for info to make a money transfer. They saying they out of town but wants to pay you right away then sends you a link and if you click it you are screwed. Not so much anymore. ### 1/5 — Too many listings that either aren’t available or the seller doesn’t bother to check *2026-07-26, version 4.10.3* I’ve been searching for a recliner and sofa for a few months now, and I’ve come to VarageSale many times, searching thru the various communities I’m a member of. However, there a so many listings that have inquiries on them for weeks, months and years, that have never been answered yet the items are still listed as available. And when you message the sellers they don’t reply either. It would be different if it was one or two listings, but there are a lot. And it’s frustrating to think you’ve found something over and over again, only to scroll down and see people have been asking about it for up to two years or more with no reply. Or to message the seller and never hear back, over and over again. It seems like sellers ought to be required to update or bump or do something to their listings to keep them active, so they don’t sit there forever with people continually thinking they’ve actually found something for sale and not yet another dead-end. I finally just closed my account because I’ve not been able to find a single piece of either furniture item that was actually available or could get a seller to respond. I’ll just have to try Facebook marketplace. I hate Facebook and would much rather deal with a small-town type app, but this is just too frustrating to happen continually. ### 1/5 — Beware of scams *2026-07-22, version 4.10.3* What was once (5+ years ago) a great site for buying and selling has become a hotbed for scammers and it’s only getting worse. ### 1/5 — Downhill *2026-07-22, version 4.10.3* This app use to be great. There were guidelines and rules that weeded out the no shows and scammers. Was a bit strict, but most were about keeping things fair and considerate. Also, have had technical issues that I’ve contacted the help desk about that have gone unanswered, or a very long delay before receiving a response. All of a sudden I just couldn’t send messages? Not worth the headache. All of a sudden this week, I’m unable to message or comment on anything including my own items. I tried to use the in app help section to no success. It’s all basic function questions. To my knowledge I haven’t been kicked out of a community. And if I was I was I not notified in any way nor have I broken any rules. So the app is completely useless to me now. I've tried turning them off and back on numerous times. Not sure what else I can do. I used to prefer VS to FB for selling, but between the notification issue & the weird categories, it's getting to be a waste of time. Things take forever to load, it crashes and freezes all the time, even when it’s updated, and at times while things are loading there’s a strobe like flicker.
