### 4/5 — adaptation issue

*2025-03-12, version 2.6.39*

On iPhone 11, this game displays with black bars on the left, preventing a full-screen experience. This is a major annoyance, particularly for players with OCD. Is there a fix in development

### 5/5 — Must-have

*2025-01-26*

Un excellent roguelike, probablement le meilleur du Store. Le gameplay est très sympa, les graphismes nickel, il est long et en français. Merci aux développeurs pour cette pépite ☀️

### 5/5 — Hands down the best deck builder rogue-like game I’ve ever played

*2024-11-28*

I don’t write reviews for games but all I’ve played for years is deck builders and roguelike games, this one takes the cake and the bakery, just trust me and play this game

### 5/5 — Essential Buy for Fans of the Genre

*2024-10-30, version 2.6.15*

Excellent optimization, phenomenal developer, great game. I rank this alongside Slay the Spire, Dawncaster, and Monster Train as one of the best roguelike deckbuilders available on the AppStore. Well worth the price tag.

### 5/5 — Solid rougelike deckbuilder

*2024-10-21*

Vault of the Void essentially takes the best mechanics from StS, Nowhere prophet, and Across the Obelisk and jams them into something that is all its own and very fun. All UI elements are really clear to see in mobile. Love the mechanic of discarding cards to get energy to play cards and the ability to edit your deck basically at any time. Since you can see the enemy draw before you select your path you can tune your deck beforehand to help your success rate in your next combat. Everything play really quick and snappy while still having to take keep a close eye on enemy threat. When they swing, they can swing for huge numbers so you cant solely focus on direct attacks each turn and defense is a must. Also love the soundtrack and board layout. Very good game and am excited to play more.

### 5/5 — Great Rogue Deckbuilder

*2024-10-13, version 2.6.15*

This is another great rogue deckbuilder and stands apart from the others fairly significantly. Mainly in that the cards you gain become available to add or leave out of your deck. You can change them out any time between fights, but need to keep a 20 card deck.
This is unique to this game and quite fun to play around with.

Another thing is that at all times you can see the card rewards for each fight along the run. This means you end up planning your run from the outset. It takes more time upfront.

Plenty of other differences make this a worthwhile addition. The dev is also quite active, and open to recommendations over on their discord 👍

### 5/5 — Awesome balance between strategy and dumb luck!

*2024-09-20, version 2.5.22*

This game takes my favorite genre and fixes the only thing i dislike about rogue-likes: The ability to plan and build a deck that can also be tuned when you come across enemies that are weak to your chosen build.

There are still enough RNG elements to make every run unique and fun, and the class mechanics are fun.

Note to devs: I’m playing on a large version iPad and sometimes some text gets cut off on the far right of the screen. Not a show stopper, just a small detail.

### 5/5 — Pretty Awesome!

*2024-09-05, version 2.5.22*

Heard of this game from Dawncaster, and let me say their recommendation did NOT disappoint. The animations are great, building your deck is very much in your control and less rng oriented, and the class playstyles are very fun to play and experiment with. I’m always on the lookout for great deck builders, as many are free to play and the ones that aren’t are usually smaller in scope or horrible balanced, games like Vault of the Void and Dawncaster really are the “height” of premium deck building experiences, definitely will support further to see what content and updates they add if any, for $7 the asking price is more than fair, you can tell there was a lot of work put into this.

### 5/5 — Amazing cross play, saves your log in

*2024-08-16*

Can’t wait for more cards. I’ll happily buy expansion packs, great so far ! Thank you

### 5/5 — Great game

*2024-07-30, version 2.5.22*

This game is awesome. My only ‘complaint’ is that the tiering system isn’t as gradual as Slay the Spire and Monster Train. But as a whole Vault of the Void is on par with those games as far as graphics (superior), gameplay, synergies, strategies, breadth, and depth. Great job to the creator!!

### 5/5 — Positive reviews delivered

*2024-07-29, version 2.5.22*

Slay the Spire walked, so Vault of the Void could run.

Highly recommend

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No full screen …

*2025-11-13, version 2.7.54*

On iPhone 14 and 16pro

### 1/5 — わかりにくい

*2025-04-02*

出血やコンボや脅威など独自の用語が盛りだくさんで初心者にとっつきにくいです

### 2/5 — Bad UI, overly complicated

*2024-09-29, version 2.6.14*

Likely would be fun for hardcore CCG/TCG players but I found it so clumsy that I barely finished the first round of combat. The game mechanics and the UI are inelegant at best and at worst they are insensible. The devs obviously care about the game so I mean no disrespect - I wonder if maybe their expertise is in card games and not in mobile games.

### 3/5 — Pencil

*2026-06-01*

Sadly this game is not playable with the Apple Pencil Pro. Drag & Drop of cards and other UI elements are broken.

### 3/5 — Too much at once

*2025-08-07*

There’s just way too many mechanics at play that are thrown at you right from the beginning. I just finished slay the spire, and feel they managed that very well. This game however is overwhelming to try to get into.

### 3/5 — Good game, but mid mobile UX

*2025-03-15, version 2.6.39*

I like the game, and I think it has a ton of potential, but I find it to be very frustrating because the mobile experience often causes cards to accidentally trigger when I’m just trying to read them. I feel like there should be an option to adjust the activation of cards so double tapping them doesn’t activate, and instead dragging them to the appropriate target does (for self-targeting cards just use the top of the screen); this is basically how StS handles it and I’ve put hundreds of hours into that game on mobile with almost no accidental activation. I’ve put maybe 5 hours on this game and I accidentally activate cards at least twice a run, which is really annoying. I would love to play this game more and update my review if this one issue was addressed.

### 3/5 — Shine graymon

*2024-08-23, version 2.5.22*

Is there any possible way you’d be willing to make this game accessible to low vision or blind users. I assumed that this game would be accessible like Dawncaster. I enjoy rogue, like deck, builder games, if they are accessible.

### 3/5 — I’m sure I’d love this game

*2024-07-06, version 2.5.19*

Problem is the text is so microscopic in size I can’t read any of the details needed to play the game!! What a bummer 😲

### 4/5 — Solid game, needs fine tuning

*2025-08-10, version 2.6.52*

It’s a lot of fun, and visually impressive. The information overload at the start is frustrating for a while though.

There’s also a lot of relics taking up space that have useless effects like gain 20 block on your 4th turn every battle. Definitely need to remove or just tighten them up.

Note to dev: Also I end up purging cards when I meant to play them, and vice versa. It happens more when there’s only one enemy, so an option to play a card by flinging it to the left when there’s only 1 enemy would be great.

### 4/5 — Top tier game, bottom tier UI

*2025-05-19, version 2.6.50*

The cards do the play animation when you just tap on them. How much damage an enemy will do is displayed via circle, and how much energy they have is depicted on a sword.

I don't really know how to say it. This is a good game, but it gives me a headache, especially if I'm swapping between this, Slay the Spire, and Dawncaster.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Underrated Deckbuilder

*2026-02-27, version 2.8.9*

I picked this up on a whim and really enjoyed it. There wasn’t the grind usually associated with mobile deckbuilders, the different characters felt unique (though I haven’t played them all yet) and its mechanics distinguish it from other games in the genre.

### 5/5 — Innovative.

*2025-12-17, version 2.7.54*

Amazing.

### 5/5 — Great but doesn’t let you keep cards.

*2025-11-28, version 2.7.54*

I loved playing through the first time, but was really mad when I died and found out you loose all your cards and start all over. The learning curve was big mainly because I had to guess how to select something or move the game forward. Card games like this should allow you to build and keep your own deck.

### 5/5 — Engaging Mechanic

*2025-11-09*

This is brilliant, the best CCG I’ve played. I became bored of the others quickly. Plus there’s cross-platform saving, and a macOS version. Well worth the price, try it!

### 5/5 — Amazing deckbuilder!

*2025-10-31, version 2.7.46*

I’ve been playing this on and off for over a year and still keep coming back. I recently won runs with all 4 base characters on i+70 (just in time for the new 5th character). I love how each characters plays so differently. The amount of depth and freedom in building your deck is incredible, and the Instability system is such a smart way to customize the challenge. Honestly feels like a steal for the price. Easily one of the best deckbuilders out there.

### 5/5 — Underrated game

*2025-06-20, version 2.6.52*

This is a fantastic and unique roguelite deckbuilder.

### 5/5 — Rare high quality gem

*2025-06-07, version 2.6.52*

Depth, challenge, not getting in the way of you playing it. Loved every second I have played so far.

### 5/5 — Hands down the best deck builder rogue-like game I’ve ever played and it’s not close

*2025-02-22, version 2.6.39*

Only thing I ask that you guys add is more dev support packs, genuinely would buy a pack that doesn’t have any card backs or anything just to support the devs because you guys made an absolute banger
