## What is Vayu?

Vayu tracks any flight, live — no app-switching, no refreshing, no waiting.

Search any flight number. Vayu finds the live ADS-B position and schedule data simultaneously, then shows you everything: departure and arrival airports, live position on an interactive map, ETA countdown, distance covered, delay status, and a Dynamic Island that keeps you updated without opening the app.

WHAT IT DOES

• Live flight tracking — real ADS-B position, updated every 30 seconds
• Dynamic Island — see route and ETA without unlocking
• Interactive map — live aircraft position on a great-circle route arc
• Full stats — distance covered, departure and arrival times, delay info
• Gate and terminal info — shown when available
• Flight history and favourites — your most-tracked flights, one tap away
• Push notifications — departure, delay, and landing alerts
• Works worldwide — any airline, any route, any country

HOW IT WORKS

Search any flight number — BA249, EK203, QR007, whatever you need. Vayu cross-references live ADS-B radar data with scheduled flight data to build a complete picture: where the aircraft is right now, how far it has to go, what time it lands, and whether it's running late.

The Dynamic Island updates live while you use your phone. The Lock Screen widget means you can check a flight in one glance. Push notifications fire when the gate closes, when your flight departs, and when it lands.

NO ADS. NO PAYWALL. NO ACCOUNT.

Vayu will never show you an ad. There is no premium tier. There is no free trial. It does not ask for your name, email address, or phone number. You search a flight. You track it. That's the whole thing.

THE STORY

I built Vayu because I was tired of refreshing a website every three minutes waiting for someone's flight to land. This is my first app — built to scratch my own itch, not to sell it.

Vayu — Sanskrit for wind, air, the breath between places.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6 — 2026-08-23

- Fixed: some real flights could be wrongly greyed out as "not scheduled" when tapping a date chip, particularly flights with early-morning departures
- Fixed: a flight's date chips (20/21/23/24) weren't automatically checked when the screen first loaded — you had to tap each one to find out if it was scheduled
- Fixed: a delayed flight could briefly show a wrong "Landed" status right when the app started tracking it
- Fixed: live position, speed, and altitude could occasionally fail to appear even though the flight was genuinely trackable
- Fixed: the live-tracking map's flown-path line could collapse to a single dot right after tracking started mid-flight
- Improved: landing detection now reacts to the aircraft's real, live touchdown moment instead of polling repeatedly and blindly in the final approach — faster and far less taxing on the data budget that keeps this app free
- Added: aircraft type and registration now shown for flights where that data is available
- Added: a "Reported X ago" freshness label so you can tell a live position update from an older, cached one

### 1.5.2 — 2026-08-18

This update is entirely about accuracy — ten real, live-confirmed tracking bugs found and fixed since the last release, several of them serious.

- Fixed: a delayed flight still at the gate could sometimes be shown as fully "Landed," with a fabricated arrival time and destination gate info
- Fixed: in rare cases, live position, speed, and altitude from a completely different aircraft could briefly be shown on your flight
- Fixed: ETA and flight progress could look ahead of reality — showing partial progress or an early arrival estimate before a flight had actually left the gate
- Fixed: ETA could get stuck on an outdated estimate for long or slow-updating flights, off by as much as several hours in one case
- Fixed: a still-boarding, genuinely delayed flight could incorrectly show "On-time"
- Fixed: the "Delayed" badge could appear for delays as small as 1-3 minutes, well below what most people would call a delay
- Fixed: live tracking could permanently fail to pick up a flight's position if the very first check happened to miss it
- Fixed: the plane marker could drift away from the destination on an already-landed flight

### 1.5.1 — 2026-08-17

This update fixes a handful of accuracy and reliability issues: a rare case where searching certain flights could show placeholder data instead of a proper error, a timing bug that could show a delayed flight as "Landed" a few minutes before it actually touched down, and some under-the-hood security hardening. No new features — just a more trustworthy Vayu.

### 1.5 — 2026-08-10

- Fixed: tapping through dates on a flight's tracking screen could sometimes show the wrong day's info, or leave a date stuck greyed-out and unclickable
- Fixed: the status badge could get stuck on "Scheduled" or "Boarding" long after a flight had actually taken off
- Fixed: when a flight's status updated, the progress bar, map line, and map marker didn't always update their colour to match
- Fixed (Android): a rare crash while switching between dates that could leave some flight details showing stale data
- New: a small hidden surprise on the map — try zooming in on Schwäbisch Gmünd

### 1.4 — 2026-08-04

This update focuses on accuracy — the core thing a flight tracker needs to get right.

- Fixed: arrival times occasionally showed an incorrect delay for flights that had already landed on time
- Fixed: the wrong airline name was shown for a small number of flights
- Fixed: arrival info now correctly distinguishes a gate from a baggage claim carousel
- Fixed: some airline logos failed to load
- Improved: live ETA updates are now smoother and less prone to sudden jumps
- Improved: delay info can now appear earlier, before a flight has even departed, when known
