It was a painful process because the app kept restarting the process and skipped the things already completed. I had to enter the pin 3 times. Then it said streaming error but nothing was wrong! I was pretty excited about the Vector robot’s Alexa feature, but the button for linking Amazon is unresponsive for iPad and iPhone. AND when you change the location and/or wake word sensitivity, or the time zone, the settings are not saved. The only way to fix that is to never go out of that page. Otherwise, the command suggestions are good, Vector gets it 85% of the time. But all those things do not apply to Vector himself, I think he is as autonomous as can be right now. Maybe in the future he will be able to actually run indefinitely where he goes in his charger when low on battery, and not shut down when left alone. (Tip: Say “Goodnight,” or “Go to sleep” when you don’t want him to shut down. Also the fastest way to wake him up if he looks tired is: “Hey Vector: Wake up.” He does not respond to other commands unless you say that. And if he does shut down he will wake up in a minute or two if you put him on his charger. If he is on it already take him off and put him back on. Do not hold the power button on him it will take a while or do a cycle.) Sorry long review this was the only way to get all of this through. ### 2/5 — Time zone function will not remember the time zone I set it as so my Vector sleeps all day. *2026-08-14, version 4.0.2* Incredibly annoying, every time I change my time zone to the uk the app immediately switches it back to the default american one meaning my vector does nothing all day unless prompted. Why does it keep doing this? If I tried to updating it, it wouldn’t work it just say something’s not working I have everything working so I don’t get why it’s doing that anyhow I love this little robot. I never leave reviews but I felt obligated to leave one this time because of the disappointment my son experienced with this bday present. I don’t understand how you can sell a product (which is NOT cheap) and not even have your backend systems in place to use it. Apparently this is very common too. The vector cube is amazing it glows and vector play and interacts, what a great product 😃 ### 5/5 — Use WIRE-POD! *2026-05-25, version 4.0.1* The app itself sucks, and you have to pay 10 DOLLARS A MONTH TO USE THE ACTUAL ROBOT (however it can be an alexa for free), however to all of the people who give vector itself bad reviews, also because of the previously downed servers, head onto github and get Wire-Pod on your computer! You can also use a TS82 Vector server. TS82 also makes youtube videos on how to set up the server. The good thing about Wire-Pod is that you can not only install different firmwares onto your vector, you can dev unlock it, add an ai knowlage graph (houndify, gemini, openai, custom (ollama is recommended for custom, atleast by me because there isnt any struggle with paying money or having an account, and you can use ur own models.) and control it REMOTELY. However, one con of wirepod is you have to have a device that can run websites, but to control vector itself must be a pc/mac. It turns Vector from a paperweight into a companion again. I reccomend checking out the Github, or buying a server. Whatever works best. (YOU MUST HAVE ETHERNET FOR A SERVER, HOWEVER IN SOME CASES YOU CAN USE WI-FI, BUT IT REQUIRES MULTIPLE EXTRA STEPS.) Best part is, there isnt a need to have a subscription just to use it!
