You’re crazy. Such a great thing ruined by such stupid greed and a drive to offer “convenience” and “variety” that only serves to ruin the whole experience. Have fun making literally 0 money would you at least could have made some if you hadn’t gone with the subscription model. Don’t bother replying to this unless its to say that you’ve removed the subscription and gone with a flat price. I would rather pay a flat price for the app than do this monthly payment setup. While I will miss playing the games, this comes across as more of a cash grab than anything else. Yes I am sure there are other games available outside of vectrex, but damn it to hell ..... why can’t you just charge $100 to buy it outright. When will apple going see not everyone can afford every single app on their phone to be a monthly subscription. ### 1/5 — THIS GAME IS SH**. *2019-11-14, version 1.0.5* It used to be good, but than it made you pay for access to all the games. **Developer response:** GameClub offers all-you-can-play access to a large library of curated games, including Vectrex — hundreds of dollars worth of titles within the single subscription. Everyone who bought our games previously should continue to have full access to the game without starting a subscription. However, in the case of Vectrex, it is no longer possible to detect a previous purchase automatically. Please write us at support@gameclub.io to get it straightened out. ### 1/5 — Unbelievably stupid *2019-10-25, version 1.0.5* At first, I thought GameClub was a new owner of the Vectrex game. So when I started I wanted to pick a new game, I saw that you have to subscribe, just so that you can play another game. Used to Love it. The game I PAID FOR no longer works and I’m forced to pay $5 a month or $60 a year to play?? Are you kidding me??? I can almost understand if you let the customers that supported you by buying this game years ago Keep their game but you no longer support the game I PAID For and now are forcing me to pay a monthly fee to play a game? Yeah, ok. What has happened to this world where everything is subscription based? As if I don’t have enough monthly bills that now I’m going to pay monthly for a game…..A GAME? You can keep it ### 1/5 — No reply from customer support *2023-07-08* I have tried repeatedly to get access to the games that I paid for years ago before this became subscription-based. After multiple emails saying that they would get back to me in 24 hours, no email follow up has ever been sent. I have supplied them with my receipt showing that I paid for all the games on the shelf, but I am currently unable to access them. ### 1/5 — Not a free game. Does not work. *2023-05-20* This game does not work. The store website does not respond. You have to sign up for their monthly plan to play. And you cannot. This is not a free game with in-app purchases.This is a subscription required game. Except it isn't. The store website is down. You cannot play anything at all. I have no idea how will this recreates the Vectrex. I’m not interested in any of the other titles, so I guess I’m done playing Vectrex on my iPad. ### 1/5 — Developers got greedy? *2022-04-18, version 1.0.27* Why did this move to a different subscription service? Whoever decided this obviously made a poor decision. There’s no way I’m paying $5/month to play Vectrex games occasionally. It’s great to relive memories (I had one of these as a kid), but don’t play often enough to justify $5/month. I’m not going to bother signing up and canceling every time either. Please make this a stand alone purchase! You worked too hard on this to let it die like this with a subscription service. I’m not alone in this view either. Just read your reviews. I would gladly have bought the game but not interested in subscribing to a game club, especially at this ridiculous price. This is an amazing re-creation, and was obviously created with love for the original. Many people are complaining about the subscription model. The game used to be available as a one time purchase. The company is still honoring those who actually bought the game years ago. Customer service was a little slow in responding, but ultimately restored my purchase. ### 5/5 — I miss Vectrex *2024-06-22* I remember when I first got this app. It had a lot of the old Vectrex games I remember playing as a kid. It was a great way to spend the evening after coming home a stressful day at work & being able to unwind by playing video games. Took me back to my youth when you would just go in & play a game for fun. Then it changed. Now you need to pay to play video games. Now please do not get me, I am not again sit anybody trying to make a buck! I really wish I could subscribe, but thanks to Covid 19 which is still around, I am out of work at the moment. I hope that changes so I can go to college to learn how to make video games myself, but please don’t change what we love about this app. You might have been asked this by others, but is there anyway I can please get the old Vectrex format back so I can continue to play the games I loved? I’m going to stick with playing my “Cosmic Cannonade” game app for now since it’s free with no ads. ### 3/5 — Not for me *2020-06-25* Never really heard of vectrex. Not my sort of games. However it is a very nice interface. Swiping around the room to access all the games on a bookshelf and a few videos. I felt that all the games are pretty similar and unless you have a controller a bit awkward to control using on screen controls. But those who grew up with it, presumably in the 70s, may enjoy it. ### 2/5 — Great execution, $5/month way too much *2023-01-19, version 1.0.27* So you can play. For $60/year. No thanks for a phone emulation. Subscription models are horrible. The excellent Star Trek game is now retitled Starship. I’m sure it plays the same but can’t tell since I have to fork out $5 to find out. Fine. BUT what’s missing from basic play is the wonderful Battlezone. For that reason it’s only getting 2 stars from me. I’m sure it’s buried there somewhere. Since I infrequently play video games, doling out $5 a month is crazy to me.
