## What is Veg?

Veg tells you whether food fits your diet, from packaged products to a restaurant menu, right on your phone.

SCAN A BARCODE
Point your camera at any product barcode and Veg checks it instantly against its bundled product database.

NO BARCODE? SNAP THE LABEL
Photograph the ingredient list and Veg reads and classifies every line, highlighting anything your diet excludes and explaining why.

SCAN A MENU
At a restaurant, Veg highlights each menu line live: green when it fits, amber when it depends, red when it doesn't. Save menus to look at later.

NINE DIETS
Vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, dairy-free, gluten-free, keto, paleo, halal and kosher. Pick yours and change it anytime.

HONEST ANSWERS
When an ingredient could be plant- or animal-derived, Veg says "Depends" instead of guessing, and tells you what to look for on the package.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
All scanning and text recognition happens on your device. No account, no tracking.

WORKS WITH SIRI AND SHORTCUTS
Ask Veg about an ingredient without opening the app.

Classifications are best-effort. Always double-check the packaging, especially for strict diets and allergies. Product data derived from Open Food Facts (ODbL).

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.3 — 2026-10-27

Meet your new buddy.

• All 9 food characters are redesigned and much cuter, with big eyes, little arms and a bounce in their step.
• Your character now keeps you company around the whole app with quick tips, fun facts about your diet, nutrition facts and the odd joke. Tap it for more, drag it anywhere, or set it to quiet or off in Settings.
• Built for iPhone Duo: two pane layouts when open, and a tidy single column on the cover screen.
• Updated for iOS 27, with cleaner text and small fixes throughout.

### 1.1 — 2026-09-23

Veg can now answer you without being opened.

• Ask Siri whether an ingredient fits your diet. It runs the very same check the scanner runs, so Siri and the camera can never disagree about carmine.
• Your scan history is searchable from Spotlight, so "was that oat milk OK?" has an answer.
• Say "scan a label" to open the camera straight into barcode or menu mode.
• Change your diet by voice, and anything already on screen updates to match.

### 1.0 — 2026-08-12
