### 3/5 — Could use an upgrade in capability

*2024-04-28, version 2.1*

Not asking for a lot, could you make your app controllable using Siri?

I would love to be able to automate it from the iOS Shortcuts app, but that would be a bonus. Siri first, please and thanks.

### 2/5 — Crashing

*2020-11-26, version 2.1*

Ever since I updated my phone IOS 14.2 the app itself keeps crashing. A strobe feature should also definitely be added. Makes me click the power off and on button a couple times for the lights to actually turn on.

### 3/5 — Too many crashes.

*2020-09-22, version 2.1*

Nice looking lights but crashes all the time. Keep having to delete the app and reinstall. Annoying

### 3/5 — Does it conect to amazon Alexa

*2020-07-15, version 2.1*

Does the smart bulbs conect to amazon Alexa

### 2/5 — Please improve your scanning

*2020-06-22, version 2.1*

lots of the time I try scanning to get my lightbulb to change colour. It doesn’t normally work. It sometimes dose and is nice when it dose but even if I put the iPad right next to the bulb. Also the colours don’t work alot I try to get yellowy green but i get blue or red. Or the colours just go dark when I try to get certain colour.

### 3/5 — Great bulbs. Broken app and system

*2019-10-18, version 2.1*

For goodness sake Veho. You have a great product for the price. You also have a brand to build not to erode which is exactly what you are doing with Kasa.

How long did it take you to repair the iOS 11.3 bug. I waited a few weeks having lost full function then I deleted your ‘VEHO’ app

I’d bought 4 gu10’s and 3 e27’s that were now useless and at that point was certain I’d never buy into anything Veho again.

Please forward this comment to your brand manager. You must monitor these reviews like any responsible brand and also Half of the above 5* comments could only be in-house PR damage control 😂

Had anyone asked me about smart lighting in the
months following the 11.3 bug I’d have started by saying avoid ‘VEHO’ at all cost. Your brand became a joke and a sad example of what this fast paced world is becoming. How many bulbs went to landfill thanks to this bug.

A few months later I came across 5 used bulbs being sold by a disgruntled bloke cursing Veho’s name. Figured they’d be worth £1 each as simple white bulbs. So I reinstalled the app just in case. lo and behold there was life in Veho after all.

Now I’m planted in your very narrow island of a system but with enough critical mass to keep buying more (2x e14’s a couple of weeks ago) I really don’t need another 11.3 episode guys. Nor does your brand.

All the actual reviews above rate 3 stars at most. The problem isn’t just the wonky broken app but a total lack of access to technical info or an api allowing the open source community to do your work for you. I am certain you could great bullet proof apps built for you. Apps that connect to everything from Apple Google Amazon and whatnot. You need to open your protocol to keep Kasa breathing because with iOS 13 just released this could happen easily enough. Do you guys really want to grey your hair and ours every time apple issues a major update.

I am not upgrading for fear of losing control of my ‘HOME’ lighting.

Veho Managers,,, my lighting.. you are messing with light. That’s like messing with your customers Utilities. Imagine if your product cut off hot water, your electricity,, lighting is not so different. Get this wrong and you really piss off your customers and guess what they do then. What do you think the missus is going to say late evening two glasses in when all the ‘VEHO’ lighting is set to deep calming orange reds. She updates her iPhone and suddenly ‘HER’ home is lit like a dentist surgery with VEHO’s default midday blue white.

please slap an api together ASAP and Get your marketing to find active open source pi/arduino maker developers on their various forums and communities through targeted ads. This kind of app rebuild is not quantum computer science. It’s something any decent comp sci grad could pull off quickly in their sleep. Many of these decent grads sit in poor economies and enough would bend over backwards to have VEHO on their CV.

You are either wasting your money on poor developer management and or inept programmers. My guess is you are being too cheap. You get what you pay for and your app is a great example. If you are spending a lot on this farce of an App oh boy god help you VEHOHoHo.

I’d get the attention of the right maker / devs with targeted ads wherever they hang out. Give away a few hundred bulbs and see what apps may be built.

Offer a decent sum to motivate the makers (what you’d otherwise spend on your Kasa app bug repair) and teams may well form to build a great app that also integrates your bulbs with all the IOT platforms. Outsource to Opensource and also drop the rrp price because you’ll sell a lot more with a solid app.

So Veho,, Gimme an A, gimme a P, gimme an I,,,, API💡

Plenty of open source IOT servers that run on Bluetooth equipped raspberry pi’s exist. A simple £10-£20 pi can act as a Bluetooth bridge.

Someone out there already sniffed your protocol and has a working example. Search it you shall find. Make it easy for makers to make with your bulbs.

You’ll sell a lot more bulbs or at least you won’t tarnish your brand any more than you are doing right now with that deplorable app.

I actually write all this because now my app won’t connect to schedules. My last programmed schedule runs but I can’t see nor adjust it any longer.

Now my lights turn on and off at very inconvenient times.

Please VEHO ‘Kasa’ team,, get it together

### 2/5 — Okay App

*2019-08-22, version 2.1*

This is an alright app, I got the LED light to use with the app, but I’m quite disappointed that the app doesn’t feature a strobe option. This would be an amazing feature to add to the app allowing you to have the bulb change at a slow pace similar to most RGB LED’s which are currently on the market. If this feature would be added I’d update my rating to 5 stars.

### 2/5 — App crashes

*2019-04-20, version 2.1*

It would be a good app if it was reliable but sadly it’s not. When you open it you take the chance of the app crashing on loading. If not this it has trouble connecting to the lights even in the same room.
If the bulbs aren’t free I wouldn’t buy them because the app lets it down. The amount of times it got to 50% and stopped or just crashed.
When it works it works well or would be 1 star.

### 1/5 — Most Disappointed

*2019-03-19, version 2.1*

The Veho Kasa bulbs are great, but the app controlling the bulbs is horrendous.

I can not control more than 4 bulbs, and I own 5. I’d happily buy more, but regardless of the firmware being updated, the app stopped recognising my previous 4 bulbs and now just shows the 5th one.

I’ve troubleshooted this to death, and will no doubt spent more of my life getting this sorted. If only there was an alternative app I could use!

### 1/5 — Does not work with IOS 12!

*2018-12-13, version 2.1*

They haven’t updated the app since 2016, so it doesn’t work anymore. What a rip off! Now I have a couple very expensive LED bulbs that do nothing. What a horrible company!

### 2/5 — When it works 5 stars But !!!!

*2018-11-21, version 2.1*

In theory and when working this is great with lights on when I get home in the dark. BUT for some reason the bulbs will “magical” disappear and I have to add them all over again . This it’s self can be an issue when standing right next to the bulb. So if works great if not expensive bulbs

### 3/5 — Need to update for iPhone X, Xs and Xs max

*2018-10-21, version 2.1*

The app needs to be updated to work with the latest iPhones

### 1/5 — Updated needed

*2018-09-25, version 2.1*

Takes too long to rescan.
Mood presets keep being deleted!
Was fine before. Please update soon!!!

### 3/5 — Ok

*2018-08-06, version 2.1*

It’s an ok app, IPhone X support would be nice and maybe a few “suggested” moods to start you off

### 1/5 — Piece of junk app & product

*2018-07-21, version 2.1*

I am so shocked Amazon is selling this piece of crap along with its Echo products.

### 1/5 — App: Awful, Hardware: OK

*2018-07-10, version 2.1*

This is one of the least user friendly apps I have ever used.

Just to control 1 light you have to open the app, wait for it to connect, then click three times (in different places!) before you can change the light settings.

There is just no UX consideration whatsoever. Which is a shame because the bulb itself works as you’d expect.

What I would want to see is:
Complete overhaul of the app - UI updated, decent UX implemented, ability to use it through Voice Assistants, use it through Home app and 3D Touch capabilities. That’s the least I would expect.

### 1/5 — Another sub par app

*2018-07-07*

Have had to delete and reinstall this lousy app the past 6 days.

What a piece of junk.

Worked the first time. Haven't been able to do much except turn them on, manually at that, since. Looks like I got snookered into another piece of crap. Had for a week. Have had to trash and reinstall the app so many times I've lost count. Don't waste your time setting up any groups etc. you'll just have to do it over and over. An expensive lightbulb. That's all I got. THANKS KASA!!!

Here's an update: the app just plain doesn't work from one day to the next. Had these 3 was, have deleted and reinstalled app EVERY day, sometimes twice cuz it's just that big a pile of bull roar.

DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS CRAPPY PRODUCT.

update: it’s now well over 18months and you would have thought there would (might) b an update that would address even some of the basic issues, but alas, I’ve deleted and reinstalled app 3 times TODAY. And still can’t find the bulbs it found yesterday. Nothing’s changed. It works when it feels like it and F&@?/k you if it doesn’t.

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2018-06-30, version 2.1*

Worst app ever!!!!! Always giving problem....

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2018-06-22, version 2.1*

Couldn’t find any of my devices.

### 1/5 — Multiple bulbs don’t show in connected device

*2018-06-03, version 2.1*

I got two bulbs E27 and E14 when connecting to app it does not show in connected device. Only one is showing and other is not. I tried to delete app and bulb and reinstall but no success. Not good experience it’s on latest firmware.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Multiple devices?

*2024-05-12, version 2.1*

It can only connect to one device at a time. You have to close the app on the other device in order to use this on another device.

### 1/5 — The light strips were horrible

*2023-05-20, version 2.1*

The light bulb was working great and the light strips were too but after 10 minutes the light strips were smelling like fire and smelt burnt. They also didn’t work as well after a while.

### 1/5 — Vehicle kasa

*2023-05-08, version 2.1*

Just bought the bulb, installed app and when I’ve opened app I see word” connecting” and app doesn’t go to next step

### 1/5 — Don’t save any presets.

*2021-08-25, version 2.1*

The app functions. It has its bugs but you can always close it restart lol anyways. Don’t save any “Moods” they seem to never save. Hopefully they update this app sometime lol

### 1/5 — Stopped workin, can’t use my devices

*2020-12-04, version 2.1*

Please sort this app out I can no longer control my lights because the app keeps crashing the whole time.

### 1/5 — Yeah the app won’t open

*2020-11-29, version 2.1*

It’s been like this for a while. Updated. Restarted. Think the apps done

### 1/5 — 1 step forward...627 back!

*2020-11-21, version 2.1*

Spent an hour setting up the 20 bulbs on the app (naming, grouping, moods etc.)...only to find they’ve ALL reset back to their default names (digits that look like an IP address)!

No way in hell I’m setting them all back up for now.

Now I have to switch every single bulb on one at a time, until I find the bulb I need. Maybe in time, I’ll memorise the default names for each bulb...but quite frankly, I think that defeats the purpose!

Disappointed. 1 star.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2019-10-13, version 2.1*

Have 10 bulbs at home and gave our neighbors 2. Since they have Samsung phones, they automatically connect to our lights. Can’t find any means to stop this from happening. So now their lights are unusable or ours are. Very disappointing.

### 1/5 — Forgetful App

*2019-09-26, version 2.1*

If you only want to control one bulb, then it works about as well as any of the cheap remote controlled bulbs you can buy for a fraction of the cost.

If you want to control multiple bulbs, then don’t bother.

Yes, you can program groups and names for your bulbs so you know which bulbs you’re controlling. Except the app forgets those names, and reverts the bulb name to its serial number.

Alright, that’s fine, I’ll just write a list so I know at least the order of the bulbs, so first bulb is living room, second is dining room, and so on...

Nope, the order of the bulbs changes too.

So if you want to turn the living room light on, you have to go through your list of connected bulbs, turning them on and off until you stumble across the bulb you want...

### 1/5 — Pointless

*2019-03-20, version 2.1*

Possibly the worst app I’ve ever dealt with. It won’t set to some colors. Takes minutes to connect?? Meanwhile the lightbulb next to it receives voice commands every single time immediately.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Does what it’s meant to “very happy”

*2018-05-15, version 2.1*

Don’t read these “old” reviews , I have 3 bulbs and they do exactly what it says on tin, app is efficient and I’ve had NO problems since I bought them 6 months ago,
Miss J Moore

### 5/5 — Updated: Working again, Excellent!

*2018-04-20, version 2.1*

After being broken by the iOS 11.3 update, this is now working again. You’ll need to update the app and the firmware in the bulbs (via the app).

Neat bulbs and handy app to control them, does everything it says on the tin; I have room moods and timers all over the house, love the bulbs and the app.

If I was being really picky I could complain about the bulbs being Bluetooth rather than WiFi, so you have to wait a few seconds for a connection when you enter the room; and it would be nice if Alexa could control them, again she can’t because they are not WiFi. At this price point though they’re a bargain, the next gen (much more expensive) bulbs provide WiFi / Alexa etc, but for now I’m happy with these.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2018-04-19*

Thank you, Angus, for the update. We really missed being able to use our bulbs. But you have enabled iOS 11.3 users to do it again. Thanks so much.

### 5/5 — Cool light bulb

*2017-10-19, version 1.0*

This is a neat item, app works great to control the light bulb. Does what I expected.

### 5/5 — Works good

*2017-01-28*

The app works well for me. Don't know what other people were having problems with.

### 5/5 — Light Strip

*2016-12-15*

I received my light strip today, took me about 2 minutes to put it where I already planned. Downloaded the app and I can actually control the light from the next room over. I would like to see an automatic color changing setting added where you can select what colors it automatically changed from and to in what order you want. Green and red would be great for Christmas.

### 5/5 — Simple and easy

*2016-08-10*

Really cool product ! Love the simplicity of the app to set timers on lights coming on / off especially when not at home 👌🏼 been using for 2 months and found 0 faults 😊

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2016-08-07*

The bulbs are easy to set up and the App is easy to use. I have 5 bulbs around the house with 3 groups. Best App feature is countdown timer as my kids all have a fair 20 minutes bedtime reading :-) Well done Veho

### 4/5 — Nice, but could use more management

*2018-04-29*

I like how the bulbs can be controlled individually or added to groups. However, every bulb in the group HAS to be exactly the same (both in color in brightness). I would like to be an option when creating groups that would let you choose whether the bulbs are grouped for color, brightness or both. That way I can have my bulbs all the same color and brightness, or I can have them all the same brightness but different colors. Another feature is that we should be able to set the default color and brightness of a bulb or group. One of my “moods” is a warm white, but the bulbs always default to bright white when disconnected from power. Other than that I have no gripes. The timer and schedule features work flawlessly and I never have an issue connecting to the bulbs. Many of the reviews here talk about issues but it sounds like user-error because Bluetooth isn’t as user-friendly as WiFi. If you have an iPhone make sure that Bluetooth is on in your Settings ANNNND that it is toggled on in the Control Center (swipe up from the bottom of the screen). If Bluetooth is off in Control Center, it will disallow any new connections (including to the bulbs) even though Bluetooth is on in Settings.

### 4/5 — Pretty good but room for improvement

*2017-06-24*

The app is pretty simple to use, well laid out and has some really good features.

What I'd like to see is to be able to 3D Touch your saved moods so you don't need to go into the app, that would be brilliant.

Also it can be difficult to fine tune colours on the colour wheel so hopefully that can be sorted.
