### 5/5 — Easy, Beautiful, & Complete

*2016-12-05, version 1.2.1*

Easy to use, beautiful to view, and the most complete app for data and graphs to follow the sun, moon, and daylight hours!

### 5/5 — Recent v1.2+ versions are excellent

*2016-01-02, version 1.2.1*

Quick awesome app.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2015-12-29, version 1.2.1*

If you want to know what's happening with the sun and moon, anywhere, anytime, this is the app.

I've been using this for a few years and really like it.

### 5/5 — Can’t live without it

*2015-06-11*

Indispensable.

### 5/5 — A wonderful thing

*2015-03-20*

If you are interested in sunrise and sunset times and phases of the moon - for instance if you are a photographer or if you just are interested because you are - then get this app: it is perfect.

Very pleased to see updates: the app worked fine but I was dreading the day when it finally broke. No longer!

### 4/5 — Great quick-reference, and pretty too.

*2015-01-19, version 1.1*

VelaClock is a well-designed display of astronomical dates, times, and other data. It's a great quick reference, and pretty too. I especially like the main "day line" display.

It doesn't display at the iPhone 6's highest resolution, but that's a minor thing. It's one of my favorite apps.

### 4/5 — Used to be good, now crashes

*2014-12-31, version 1.0.1*

When it works, this is the best sun & moon almanac in the App Store. I've used it for over a year. But starting 12/23/14 it would crash immediately on opening. As of 12/30/14 it's working again. But for how long? A serious bug – needs a fix! Unacceptable for an app that costs money. And it still doesn't utilize all of my iPhone 5 screen. Also, I wish it had an option to display sun set/rise times with one-second resolution.

### 5/5 — VelaClock iPhone 6+ Crashes

*2014-12-26, version 1.0.1*

It worked on my 4s, but only crashes when I try to open the details for my current location on my 6+. Update coming soon?

Addendum: I emailed the Vela Design Group today and they answered me today that a fix was in the works for release before the end of 2014. "Today," btw, was Christmas Day. Changing my rating to 5 stars.

### 5/5 — Useful and Beautiful

*2014-08-18, version 1.0.1*

I love this app and use it almost every day to track daylight for outdoor activities and photography. Living in Seattle where the amount of daylight, sunrise and sunset times are changing all the time, I'm grateful for such a wonderful tool to keep me informed.

My one request is that this app be updated for the larger screen format of the iPhone 5!

### 5/5 — Astronomy helper

*2013-03-21, version 1.0.1*

This is a great help for my astronomy activities. Only drawback it comes up sideways on my iPad.
Highly recommended for planning observing sessions. It gives astronomical twilight and dawn, moon position and phase in a good format. I rarely open the observatory without checking this app.

### 5/5 — The Best App on my phone. Period.

*2012-09-16, version 1.0.1*

If you are someone who loves almanacs, who likes keeping up with seasonal change, star watching, the moon and and phases, (just millions of uses,) then this is the app for you.
It does many things that I thought I would need multiple apps for, all in one. I look at it every day. Pretty essential to have location turned on, on your phone, though.
I love looking at different places in the world. Or going to different dates, like husbands birthdate or such, and seeing the data for it, the length of the day, whatever. Or scrolling through the year for one place and watching the days go long and short.
I have learned so much from this app. I can't say enough for it. I love this app dearly. Essential for me or someone like me. The best app I have.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Won't open

*2015-02-07, version 1.1.1*

I've loved this since before getting my 4S three years ago (as a paid Mac widget) but I've just updated and it still crashes on launch. :-(

### 1/5 — Crashes all the time

*2014-12-25, version 1.0.1*

This app cost $4 but goes for long periods where it only crashes. Like you open it, it crashes. Repeat. Etc.

It is way way way overdue for an update.

Do not pay $4 for this. It's a great idea but very shoddy execution.

### 1/5 — Crash

*2014-12-22, version 1.0.1*

Started today. Crashes on opening!!

### 1/5 — Northern grandma

*2012-06-08, version 1.0.1*

Times for sunrise and sunset are not right the sun does not come up at 10 in the evening and set in the morning

### 2/5 — One problem replaced by another

*2015-01-16, version 1.1*

This is one my most apps. They seem to have addressed the problems that occurred at Christmas

However they now introduced a new problem. The time bar is offset so it does not hide. This also means that the information display does not work

### 2/5 — Consistent crash on iPhone 6

*2015-01-02, version 1.0.1*

I've loved Classic for years...but recently found Classic crashes when I try to set the date back a week (or any day beyond December 28, 2014.) So I purchased this new version thinking perhaps Classic had probs with my new-ish iPhone 6. But no...new version crashes in the exact same way.
Slightly prefer old interface as you could see more info (various cities) all at once.

### 3/5 — Bit buggy

*2015-04-22*

Got the info I need but a bit buggy when adding stations. Also would be nice to add location in a format other than degrees and decimal if degrees, maybe by dropping pin on map

### 3/5 — Loved it but...

*2014-12-27, version 1.0.1*

Seems to crash with iOS 8.1.2 can't get passed the location page to info.

### 4/5 — Needs an update

*2017-12-21, version 1.2.1*

I love this app a lot but it has lost a lot of accuracy for some reason and needs an update- when they do I would give it 5 stars.

### 4/5 — This is a useful app

*2015-04-15, version 1.2*

Creative "bar" display of time and astronomical events.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The best sun-moon almanac

*2024-04-25*

This wonderful app is a labor of love by the designers. The main panel (second from left) has a graphical display with a LOT of information, yet it’s easily understood.

I would like to have an option to select time resolution (one-minute or one-second). Currently it’s fixed at one-minute resolution. I’d pay for that resolution option.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2023-01-02, version 1.2.1*

This app is great! I use it frequently when scheduling international calls and checking sunrise/sunset for future dates. The visualizations showing day/night, dusk/dawn are super helpful as is the ability to jump ahead or back by increments of minutes, day, week, month, year, or choose a date from calendar. It's also easy to add and arrange places. I used to use it on my Mac as well, but the latest available version hasn't worked on current macOS for awhile. I wish this was still being updated, but grateful it works on iOS for now. I'd gladly pay for updated version but understand it's difficult to get visibility to get enough paid users to make it worthwhile for the developer.

### 5/5 — Love this App

*2022-10-29, version 1.2.1*

As an outdoorsman I got to say this app is one of my favorites and gets used more during the fall and winter when I head to the woods. It is super helpful to know when the sun starts to light up the sky in the early morning so I can plan accordingly. No other app to my knowledge gives you the three twilights. I hope this app is around for many years to come. I would hate it if the developer stopped supporting it.

### 5/5 — Oldie but a goodie

*2021-05-21, version 1.2.1*

The app hasn’t been maintained since iOS 9 but miraculously it still works and is 64-bit. I’ve been using it since the iPhone 3GS days and there’s quite nothing like it as far as I can tell. The visualization of the day, dusk, twilight and nighttime is clear and I like the fact that I can jump to any date and any location I want.

It was useful for planning my trip to Iceland in the winter a couple years ago.

### 5/5 — Information dense

*2020-11-04, version 1.2.1*

I love this app. I can see so much information all at once. I only wish it was updated to support new phone sizes. Still a 5 star app, though!

### 5/5 — Very handy

*2019-11-06, version 1.2.1*

Use it pretty much every day. I’m an addicted amateur astronomer, so the sun and moon times are invaluable, plus the app packs lots of useful information into the graphics. Fun interface.

### 5/5 — If you travel you need this!

*2018-12-04, version 1.2.1*

I've had the widget on my desktop forever and I finally sprung for the phone app. If you do any traveling or have relatives or business in other parts of your country or the world, do yourself a favor and pick this up!

### 5/5 — Works very well

*2018-01-10*

Works very, lots of information neatly presented. If you need a world clock this app would work well for this also.

### 5/5 — Best App for Sunlight, Time, Moon

*2017-09-23, version 1.2.1*

This app gives you clear and easy to use information about sunrise, sunset, and the various types of twilight, as well as moon phases. I’ve used this app for over six years and continue to find it useful.

### 5/5 — Perfect for my celestial info needs

*2017-07-01*

Have used this app in evolving versions for the last 6 years. Simple interface and easy use of concurrent displays of diverse geo locations near and far is unequaled. Great value for a few bucks.
