## What is VeliKey Messenger?

VeliKey Messenger is private 1:1 messaging with end-to-end encryption you don't have to think about.

• End-to-end encrypted. Messages are encrypted on your device and can only be read by you and the person you're talking to.
• Forward secrecy. Every message uses a fresh key (X3DH + Double Ratchet), so a key compromise can't unlock your past conversations.
• Minimal retention. The server stores messages only as opaque ciphertext until they're delivered, then deletes them. No plaintext, ever.
• No account, no tracking. No phone number or email required. Add a contact by scanning their QR code in person (or sharing a contact code). No ads, no analytics SDKs, no contact-list upload.
• Built on VeliKey Aegis. Messenger is a working demonstration of provider-managed cryptography: the operator can upgrade the whole fleet's cipher suites centrally, with staged rollouts, without an app update.

VeliKey Messenger is an early release from VeliKey Technologies.

• Sharing your contact code now shares a scannable QR image, so it looks right in Messages, Mail, and other apps.
• The "Name" field when adding or accepting a contact is now labeled "Contact name" for clarity.
• Under-the-hood groundwork for future post-quantum signature support (no visible change yet).

### 1.2 — 2026-07-18

• Quantum-resistant encryption: on iPhones running iOS 26, conversations now use post-quantum hybrid key exchange (ML-KEM-768) when both people are on this version.
• The security badge shows the exact protection level for each conversation.
• Reliability and polish for messages arriving while the app is closed.

• Messages now show when they were sent, with day separators in every conversation.
• Read receipts: see "Read" with a time under your message once your contact has read it (both sides need this update).
• Faster, quieter delivery of receipt updates — no extra notification noise.
• Reliability fixes for messages that arrive while the app is closed.
