The app hangs on the Registering screen. I tried multiple times, reset the sensor, and even let it sit for more than 10 minutes, but it never completed the registration. After numerous failed attempts, I tried using the Android app instead, and it worked immediately. The iOS app definitely needs debugging. ### 1/5 — Great app *2026-06-25, version 3.3.0* Keeps on glitching gets connected for a week or so then nothing very disappointing ,,, ### 2/5 — Poor App *2026-06-24, version 3.3.0* This app is average at best, even when it is working. Lacks basic features: There is no option to set custom scenes. For example, you cannot create a preset to open only 6 out of 10 windows in the house simultaneously. Frequent connection drops: The app regularly loses connection to the servers, throwing a false "gateway not connected to the internet" error. Flawed connectivity logic: The gateway is actually connected to the internet. If I manually operate a window using a physical remote, the app suddenly wakes up, reconnects, and responds again. Missed opportunity for local control: The app desperately needs to support local control when you are on the same Wi-Fi network. While cloud servers make sense for remote access outside the home, local operation should be seamless, instant, and independent of external servers. The underlying hardware concept is great, but the software execution falls short. ### 1/5 — Very Tempremental *2026-06-23, version 3.3.0* For reasons unknown the gateway lost its settings and now needs to be reconnected to all my roof lights. ### 1/5 — Unuser-friendly instructions *2026-06-14, version 3.3.0* Instructions for set up are appalling. In a room with phones and Alexa devices it continually says the router isn’t connected to the Internet. Customer care is fantastic although takes a little time to respond between emails. Overall I’m really happy. Update However it’s now started saying after them being in three years it’s raining cats and dogs, it’s nearly June and it’s 28°, no rain expected at all, logged a call with support but I’m not hopeful, so be aware of this happening to you. ### 3/5 — Good until it stops working *2026-05-13, version 3.2.3* I was happy with this Product until i got an email telling me it had lost contact with the VELUX server, and it seems not to work Independently. Then i tried to find out how to reset it: good luck with that…am still trying: terrible online help. ### 4/5 — Much more convenient *2026-05-09, version 3.2.3* Got the VELUX Gateway for free by post just by downloading the app and enjoying the convenience of controlling my skylight that way. Only slight criticisms are it should be made clear when installing the gateway that you cannot plug it into an extension lead, direct socket only or it won’t connect; and the app should be able to display in landscape format as well on iPads, not just portrait. Minor quibbles only but room to improve. ### 1/5 — Poorest App on my phone *2026-05-08, version 3.2.3* The App is so full of bugs. Works one minute then not the next, if you use this system make sure you have got all the hand controls nearby as you will regularly need them. Tried resetting it and nothing. It’s actually abysmal if you are unable to log into the app. Currently I’ve spent hours trying to fix the app, which I can only partially control via other home automation apps, yet I can’t get into Velux’s app. Likely the blind is going to wake one of my children up due to lack of control. ### 4/5 — Fails to connect on latest update *2026-05-03, version 3.2.3* See title, fails to connect on latest update, was intermittently Working after the update and today it can’t connect/open anything at all. ### 2/5 — What Changed?? *2026-05-02, version 3.2.3* App used to be reliable and consistent. The 2 recently installed remotely operated VELUX solar skylights with rain sensors and blockout blinds are absolutely amazing. Although costly they already have been so worthwhile. I wish l had them installed years ago when the product first came out.
