## What is verbAttack?

verbAttack drills French verb conjugation the way it actually gets tested: at speed, under pressure, with wrong answers that are genuinely plausible.

You are shown a verb, a tense and a pronoun — avoir, passé simple, nous — and four possible forms. One is right. Your score is how many you get right, and ties are broken by how long you took.

THE ESSENTIAL 60
A curated set of pattern verbs, chosen so that knowing them unlocks the rest. Some model a whole regular family — parler, finir, vendre, and the spelling shifts of commencer, manger, acheter, appeler, préférer and employer. Others head a family of irregulars: learn prendre and you have apprendre, comprendre, surprendre and reprendre. The rest are the high-frequency irregulars that follow nothing and simply have to be known.

WRONG ANSWERS THAT TEACH
The three decoys are never random. They come from the same verb and are chosen to be genuinely confusable — aurions against avions, rient against rirent, eut against eût. Getting one wrong shows you exactly which distinction you have not nailed yet.

PRACTISE WHAT YOU NEED
• Drill the Essential 60, all 715 verbs, or a single verb at a time
• Switch individual tenses on and off — work only on the subjunctives if that is where you are weak
• Choose whether wrong answers come from the whole verb, which tests which tense it is, or only from the tenses you selected, which tests which ending it takes
• A per-tense breakdown after every round shows where you actually lost points
