## What is VeroSMS?

VeroSMS is a SMS Spam filter app focused on maintaining users privacy, it filters spam texts using keywords that you set and using crowdsourced data of keywords that other people in your region set.

This way none of the SMSs are sent to any server for analysis and your messages remain confidential.

This app has saved me from so much annoyance. I’ve been able to filter out almost all unwanted political ads that were coming in non stop for quite some time. Initially it also caught some needed txts but I was able to use the filtering system to correct. I tried one other app prior that promised to filter for political ads and didn’t work at all, so I was skeptical. But this one definitely works and for a reasonable

This app is so easy to use.  I’ve been mercilessly bombarded with political texts that will not stop - it should be a crime.  I was at my wits end.  This app filters custom phrases in texts into your junk folder.  You don’t even see them and the political texts can rot in purgatory where they belong.  Thank you so much for this app!!!  Highly recommend.

This app has saved me from seeing 100s upon 100s of junk messages from the political machine asking for money. 

It does need updating to work correctly on iOS 26 though.

Really useful to totally filter out unnecessary sms sent by govt/companies so that only the most important ones actually needed are visible and not cluttered. The default options are great, but I do recommend taking some time to fully dial in custom whitelists/blocklists as per your needs. It’s really powerful and ensures you only get notified of the messages that you dictate, and toss all the noise into the junk tab.

Even with adding words to the filter I’m constantly getting stupid recruiting text. And the app doesn’t catch them even though they contain words I’ve added to the filter. And when I enter the text into the “test” box, it says it will block it. But it never does. Not worth paying for premium if it doesn’t work.

After making many contributions to political causes, I got “rewarded”with endless spam. This simple app got rid of them all! It’s very simple to use and has very powerful features. I like that I can use my own key words, like “Congress” or “ActBlue” and block (black list) or allow (white list) any text that has the words or terms I create. It is very customizable and has virtually enabled me to get my message app (which had been hijacked on my iPhone) back and usable again. Highly recommend. 5 stars.

Changed servers to lower running costs. Moved all crowdsourced data processing to my own home server hosted on a raspberry pi. This will cause a slight delay in fetching keywords but it's the only way to avoid moving to a subscription based pricing.
