## What is VerseQuest?

VerseQuest helps you learn Bible verses by heart, and gives you a companion that grows while you do it.

Four ways to practice
Every verse can be practiced four different ways, so you are recalling it rather than recognizing one familiar layout.
- Word Bank — rebuild the verse from its own words, shuffled
- Clause Order — put the phrases back in order
- First Letter — type the verse from initials alone
- Voice — say it out loud and have it checked

A companion that grows from your study
Your companion earns XP, coins and happiness as you practice, and its Bond Level rises with it. Coins unlock new companions and accessories. Nothing in the app can be bought with real money.

The Pilgrimage
A 700-step road. Each step is a round of a verse game, and the land changes as you walk — thirteen different places across the route. Companions and accessories are waiting at milestones along it.

Five games
Chain of Books, Two Truths, Lantern, the Trail and Who Said It? — all free, all unlimited, all built on the verses you have saved.

Badges
Four levels each, across families that count verses learned, days studied, and distance walked.

ESV text
Verses come from the English Standard Version, fetched fresh each time you study. Only the reference is ever saved.

No advertising. No analytics. No tracking of any kind. Nothing is for sale.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.1 — 2026-10-25

A garden on the Companion page: your companion wanders, naps, plays with a ball and reacts when you tap it. Every companion has a fresh, polished look, and each final evolution has a new design.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-10-21

Typing practice now keeps the word you are on above the keyboard, so the verse and the reference check are never hidden while you type. Blanks show one mark per letter and no longer count punctuation. In Clause Order, words that look the same are interchangeable, and a closing quotation mark no longer shows up as a blank word. Practice again now restarts the same mode, and Next verse takes you to the verse below the one you just studied. Colors in the practice modes now match the rest of the app.

Password reset links now work even when your email app opens them first to check for spam, and a dropped connection no longer reports a link as expired. Companion descriptions are rewritten.

### 1.0 — 2026-10-17
