### 5/5 — Amazing

*2017-12-24, version 1.0.5*

Very good game! Lots of replay-ability!

### 5/5 — Extremely talented author

*2017-10-31, version 1.0.5*

Zachary Sergi, are you a published author in the mainstream world? If not, why not? This story eclipses even Heroes Rise in imagination, complexity and inventiveness. I remember most clearly being hammered with a dozen questions and new information in rapid succession, mind racing to take it all in. What a ride. The only beef I have, as ever, is the occasional typo and outright bad grammar, but these are rare. If you would like a proofreader, I’ll gladly volunteer. Brilliant.

### 5/5 — Don't Delay!

*2017-10-29*

I cannot emphasize enough how good this was. Truly one of the best interactive novels I've come across. Fascinating plot points, diverse characters, significant choices... Honestly what more do you need? I'm happy to say it was well-written. Can't wait for the next!

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2017-10-02*

An inspirational and enjoyable choose your own adventure story. As always, the story and choices feel real and exciting. No matter what it status in life, you can relate to the main character. A must read.

### 5/5 — Cooool.

*2017-08-11, version 1.0.5*

I can't wait for part 2 to come out. ❤️

### 5/5 — Wholeheartedly recommend!

*2017-08-09, version 1.0.5*

Thoroughly enjoyed this story as much as this author's previous work. Some of the best interactive fiction I've had the privilege to play.

### 5/5 — Very very engaging

*2017-07-11*

I love this book. One of the best interactive books I've read (the other being romance, choice of courts I think that's what it is called?).

I was sucked in immediately and actually started feeling for all the characters, especially OtherBoard. Not too sure about the "goddess" though, may need to bring her down somehow! ;-)

Brilliant author, and I hope many more books to come because I'll be purchasing them all!

### 5/5 — Surprised!

*2017-07-10, version 1.0.5*

I'm not a sci-fi fan but am a fan of the "Choice" games/books. I got this anyway because I have nearly completed all of tthe others offered. I loved this! It is so well written! I can't wait to to get Versus 2!

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2017-06-17*

When I first started this series I will admit that it was hard for me to follow, I don't know why, but the more I read and went through to over and over again the more i got it and needed up loving it!

Best game I played in a long time.

### 5/5 — Wow

*2017-04-17, version 1.0.5*

Great game. Excited for the second in the series. I loved the Heroes Rise Trilogy, and I feel this is just an evolutionary step in the authors writing abilities. Overall 6/5 game.

### 5/5 — Outstanding!

*2017-04-16, version 1.0.5*

To be honest, I have read many of the Choice games and this is in the top 3 of them. Great, complex, never boring and oh so nail biting! I greatly recommend this to anyone who is interested in this genre of gaming.

### 5/5 — Too Amazing

*2017-04-03*

I can't describe how much I love this game and how brilliant the writing is. Every scene is epic and I feel so much for the characters involved. Love the other trilogy of Heroes Rise and so I had to play this game as well and I was not disappointed! Highly recommend this game for anyone!

### 5/5 — Another epic series

*2017-02-24*

Just like the hero rise series you will be eager to get each new book as you go on an amazing adventure where you decisions effect story outlines throughout the series . It is fresh and expands in areas no other choice game I have played does . A brilliant buy a must have game

### 1/5 — A real letdown of epic proportions.

*2015-08-24*

First of all, I love the works done by this author on previous occasions. He has a wonderful imagination and creates captivating characters with brilliant world-building and Versus certainly does not lack that. However, this was a major let down in more ways than one. The game is ambitious, too ambitious. It attempts to run several storylines together that just become convoluted and boring. There seems to be no real direction in terms of story and the ending is just horrible, setting up a sequel to a story that should have been confined to one game. The choices are limited compared to the author's previous works, as it seems we are directed more by the narrative than usual for a CoG game. Paradoxically speaking, the story is short and long. It lacks any payoff yet it's boringly long which makes the ending arrive at a somewhat sudden albeit disappointing conclusion. It felt like a cash grab essentially, knowing the sequel to this could have easily been included in this game. The characters are well thought out but I find it somewhat irksome that romances are simple; don't get me wrong, I adore the diversity but if this game was written for the long haul, there really was no need to implement any romances for this game: simply allow us to move in that direction with hints and flirts. I ultimately felt bored throughout the game; I like the sheer intelligence and ambition this game is trying to evoke but this fails miserably at implementing it. The game is easy compared to others from CoG and the replay value is frankly zero, if only to jog your memory when the sequel arrives. Overall: buy it to support CoG, it's not that expensive, but don't get your hopes up. I just hope the sequel redeems this awful game.

### 2/5 — Complete waste of money

*2022-07-31*

The whole first book was JUST WORLDBUILDING. There was nothing for you to do besides determine your characters values such as genuine or not. You are not included in much action at all in the whole story and in the end, this should’ve been free to play if the author really wanted to make it as a pilot episode type book. Haven’t played the rest of the books so if you don’t plan on completing the series, don’t buy.

### 2/5 — I like weird, but...

*2018-11-02*

This was just too weird for me. But I guess if you like absolutely no character development, a sidekick who’s in a coma for basically the entire book, and frequent random teleportations that make you wonder if the protag is just hopped up on drugs the whole time, then read on. But be warned- the basic plot is you getting dropped off on some random bloody planet and being confused the whole. freaking. time.
No actual progress further than that, and the parts with some action have no real risks. There’s just more backstory than I would care to swallow, and I felt myself skipping paragraphs upon paragraphs of some random planet’s history or whatever.
Probably not going to buy the next book.

### 2/5 — DLC?

*2016-02-29, version 1.0.5*

The writer has clearly put a lot of effort into this, and I was enjoying it right up until a in game character tried to sell me DLC/in app purchase. Completely ruined it for me.

### 3/5 — Good concept, slightly overwritten

*2020-09-23, version 1.0.7*

Excuse brevity.

Pros:
Nice concept, strong world-building, lots of variety in the story nodes. Also like the “Battle Stats” mechanic. The slow-burn choice investment style is cool.

Cons:
The descriptive passages are too dense and wordy; too much exposition between player interaction. Too often I can hear the writer’s voice rather than the characters, and it takes me out of the game.

Nonetheless, intriguing game-book style experience.

### 3/5 — Ok

*2016-05-01, version 1.0.5*

Has a lot of potential but wish it would stop forcing you to be this "progressive" type character it didn't let me feel like it was my character just one or two small variations that don't really affect the story

### 3/5 — Good but

*2015-09-06, version 1.0.0*

Good book so far but the use of gender neutral pronouns is really annoying and makes it harder to envision the story.

To all writers pease do not use gender neutral pronouns it is not progressive it just makes it harder to read.

### 4/5 — Good and gets better

*2017-02-06, version 1.0.5*

One of the more interesting choice of games I have read in awhile. I found it a bit slow at first but it grew and got better quickly. I recommend checking it out. I am anxiously waiting on the third book.

### 4/5 — I couldn't get into it

*2016-08-26*

For a CoG game, it was good, I suppose. However, I kept getting headaches when trying to read it. There are a lot of made up words. So much so that I had trouble actually getting into the story. Many words could have been substituted with their normal counterparts. I understand there are many people who greatly enjoyed this game, but I honestly couldn't get into it. Why I ended up giving four stars instead of just three was because there were parts I enjoyed and the choices that were offered were entertaining.

### 4/5 — Amazing, but ends too early!

*2016-06-24*

This is an imaginative game that has fed my love for sci-if. The mechanics are unique and interesting and I especially appreciate the growth mechanic which allows for character development as much as plot development. However, for the price, which is steeper compared to other choice of games, I wished there was more. After playing, I felt like I'd only scratched the surface.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — 10/10

*2020-05-27, version 1.0.7*

A great game, definitely worth the buy! Very excited to continue the story

### 5/5 — AMAZING!!

*2019-07-26*

I thought about getting the game for a while before getting it, but when I got it it was a-ma-ing! I 95% Recommended, it has awesome story telling, great characters, feels like a real book, and it is not too random on teleporting like the other reviews say. The *random* teleporting has a reason.

Have a good day!

### 5/5 — Don't hesitate!

*2018-08-21*

I'm a big fan of the Heroes saga but I hesitated on Versus based off of reviews saying the story and wording was too confusing. In my opinion, if you're open minded or have read any Sci-Fi novels, you'll be fine. I highly recommend this!

### 5/5 — Best choice of Game so far

*2018-08-03*

One of the best interactive story I read so far. The dept and richness of that book is simply astounding. Amazing work. Will recommend.

### 5/5 — Awesome game

*2018-07-11, version 1.0.7*

I have never reviewed a game before but this one is just to cool not to and I just hop there are many more to come

### 5/5 — Ticks every box and many more

*2018-04-09*

Interesting romances? Check. Engaging rivals? Check. Meaningful choices? Big check. Diversity? Check. AWESOME IMAGINATIVE WORLD AND UNUSUAL INTERESTING STORY? C H E C K

### 5/5 — Unique and Epic

*2018-02-28*

A very intriguing story that's addictive to read, with very imaginative characters, settings and plots. Highly Recommended!

### 5/5 — AMAZING sci-if/fantasy game!!

*2018-01-28*

I’m a huge fan of interactive novels and games, but I find most of them to lack either compelling writing or reader choices that can actually change the plot and outcome. This game lacks neither, and is easily worth its price!! I’m writing this in the hope that CoG releases many more Versus installments because I’m not ready to walk away from this story :)

### 5/5 — Different but Brilliant

*2018-01-15*

This is more of a Sci-Fi genre which I normally don't enjoy and I did have to persevere with the first couple of chapters. The perseverance was well worth it! This is an excellently written, original and imaginative choices story which really makes you feel in control of your character and engaged with the world you rapidly become immersed in. Excellent! Worth every penny! If you like choices books then this is a must try!

### 5/5 — Great Read

*2017-12-29, version 1.0.5*

LOVED the story. Totally worth the cost. For sure.
