### 3/5 — Not for beginners!

*2025-10-26*

This is a pretty cool 3D app on the surface, but it may be incredibly difficult to use if you’re just starting out with 3D modeling.

Some of the swipe/button/options are not very intuitive, there is a bit of a learning curve.

Some options are hard to find as well, and it’s hard to swipe off of the app to go to other apps.

### 2/5 — Could be great

*2021-12-20*

It’s a real shame that there is no usable hard surface modeling on the iPad. This all can technically do it but it’s painful to use. The navigation is not built for touch at all.

### 4/5 — More than I expected, but still missing some helpful features

*2019-11-10*

It’s a great 3D modeling software. GLSL shading is flexible and fairly easy to use. However, the UI needs some work, and shader editing and pipeline editing isn’t very intuitive and takes a while to get the hang of. The biggest thing lacking is real time shadows. It would be great to add non-destructive modifiers and make lights still visible when set to Directional mode.

**UPDATE**

Grouping objects is also missing, meaning I have to re-select all the objects I want to move and move them; sometimes missing a couple, and sometimes selecting objects I didn’t intend to.

### 2/5 — Verto Studio

*2018-03-10, version 2.3.7*

Lacks versatile image import, shows photo library but says not importable so whart frmt req this inadequacy limits otherwise good app, need to add conversion option of dartuma req to utilize full features of this incomplete app, whart user name choice confusing, other counter productive non features, please cf NotesWriter+,other apps thart halp in 9 frmts thart should match internal ngn graphica intrface, please halp thanx, bliss,XAM

### 4/5 — File doesn't open, no support...

*2017-01-16, version 2.1.4*

EDIT - my original one star review was came from frustration that I couldn't get the app to do what I need it to do. In all fairness I did get help from the developer... once I figured out he does his support just through the forums... again my fault.

Still haven't gotten the app to do what I need it to, but there is support and it comes quickly if you post in the forums.

I do wish there was a way to test the app before spending $10.

So I buy this app (stupid me) because I'm trying to work with .blend files on the go. I've got the latest iPad Pro so should be good to go... not so fast.

I share the .blend file through iTunes, go to open open it and it's there. So far so good... try to open... fail! I test the file in Blender, and sure enough, works great.

So now what?

Go to the website to look for support but no support pages.

Stupid me. Didn't get what I needed and I'm out $10.

### 4/5 — Great, except 2 things

*2016-07-07, version 2.1.4*

I am a musical instrument designer and this app is very handy in helping me create prototypes and models! The only problem is that when you duplicate a textured shape, and then re-texture the duplicate, it changes the SHAPE, too, aside from that, though, it is a great app! Also, please add cones in your next update!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2016-03-08, version 2.1.4*

Excellent for making models on the go and quick renders with interesting shaders.

Best part is the ability to import and export models - a feature that is lacking in most 3D modelling apps without forcing you to pay for ridiculous subscriptions.

Only thing I would want is to import/export models from Dropbox or another cloud service without going through iTunes or email.

Support is fast and friendly! Well worth the price.

### 4/5 — Does what it does and does it very well

*2016-03-02, version 2.1.4*

This app has a host of very well implemented features and a very friendly UI. My only wish is this: Right now, they do a great job with precise relative transformations -- if it had the option to use absolute positions, sizes, angles, then Verto would be a force to recon with. Undo would be nice, too.

### 5/5 — Problem Fixed!

*2015-12-08, version 2.1.3*

The problem I once had is gone, thank you! The app now works again to my liking.

### 2/5 — Nice, but unusable

*2015-10-05, version 2.1.0*

Needed a cylinder. Pressed +, selected "Cylinder", put in a custom radius size - stuck. No way to press "Go" as keyboard won't go down and "Done" doesn't do anything. Have to close app and start all over again.

### 5/5 — Amazing Deep 3d Modeling iPad App

*2015-09-13, version 2.1.0*

Thanks for creating this app. I've been watching the video tutorials, experimenting and having so much fun!!! I love that you can import textures directly from the web. Keep up the excellent work!!!

### 5/5 — 14:00 lock

*2015-09-01, version 2.1.0*

PLEASE REMOVE THE 3:00 pm lock because of IFormit BURNOUT WASHUP FROM MICROSHIFTY.....

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Verto Studio 3d needs better interface and features

*2025-06-24*

Verto Studio used to be the only choice when it was first developed but it didn’t keep up with time lake of development, old style interface missing features make it very hard to compete against new wave of 3d application Valence 3D, DGArt and ArtiMesh with much better interface and functionality.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2021-10-31*

Cant lock to axis, cant bevel, cant line cut, cant select edges…really it cant do much at all.. and why is the undo button so close to the add button …and why do i need to confirm the undo everytime? no free trial, no money back so my only option is to write this bad review. Nonsense.

### 1/5 — MAKE IT EASIER!!! PLEASE!

*2020-09-14*

I spent $6.00 on a app, but can’t build anything. The edit mode is so confusing. MAKE IT EASIER, PLEASE. Otherwise, it’s a waste of MONEY!

### 1/5 — Useless

*2019-04-10, version 2.3.8*

How do I get my money back?
So dulled down from a PC 3D modeling platform to be near useless. Very difficult to create mor than basic structures.

### 1/5 — Waste of time.

*2018-12-24*

Unless the app has a major feature overhaul it by far a waste of time and money. You can’t build anything. Only able to edit face and vertex but not edges and can’t add any new points to build onto. Also has no modifiers.

### 1/5 — Not a useful app

*2018-12-14*

There is no way to actually build specific dimensions. It also crashes more than I think it should. I am very bummed out I had to pay for the app to find that out it won’t work for me.

### 1/5 — Still has the same Day 1 workflow flaws and annoyances.

*2017-02-26, version 2.2.2*

Imagine you're trying to draw a picture and you start with a line. However, you find that every time you attempt to draw another line, some invisible demon keeps the line from getting drawn unless you tap one or two corners of the paper. And the corners to tap on are not allowed to be the ones that are closest to the drawing hand. Think about how time consumingly maddening that becomes to the artistic process. Think of how repetitive stress syndrome in the shoulder is possible from constantly having to move your dominant arm to the opposite side of the drawing surface over the course of the several thousands of strokes that are needed to make a finished piece. Yeah, Verto is like that when it comes to modeling an object.

I stopped bothering with this app a few months after buying it back when the iPad 2 first launched. Every year or two, I revisit it out of curiosity to see if the modeling workflow ended up getting revamped and retooled from its Day 1 clumsy state. Nope, it's still clumsy. The developer is still too left-brain oriented and will never polish the workflows to make modeling friendlier for right-brained creatives. For example, the Undo button (located distantly on the left corner and furthest from the right hand that most of the world uses) generates a warning pop-up (also on the left corner) that must be manually closed every time it is pressed, rather than just immediately processing the Undo request. To all digital artists: Think about how many hundreds of times the Undo feature is used when creating artwork and imagine how a split-second function ends up becoming a second-long speed bump that interrupts the artistic zen state we're trying to maintain. And this philosophy of "several steps to perform one action" runs rampant throughout the brunt of UI windows and tools that the modeling workflow ends up being syrupy and muddied mess rather than a zippy experience because of all the UI speed bumps that the developer has kept in this app since Day 1.

Even more irritating is that this app has more potential than all the other modeling apps out there because of how zippy it is to pan around the models and (after wrestling with the UI speed bumps) move pixels and polygons around. The developer's effort into improving its graphics processing capabilities is admirable, but the focus on that instead of solutions to digital modeling UX is irrationally misguided.

### 1/5 — Could be much better...

*2016-02-02, version 2.1.3*

The interface for this is pretty workflow slowing - it would be good to have a better gizmo to control which axis the manipulations are happening on.

Also the most frustrating part - VERTEX mode crashes EVERYTIME. I can't merge two vertices or even find out if that is possible since every time I try to open the vtx menu the app crashes.

This is very unfortunate as if these problems were to be fixed I would LOVE this app,
At the moment I'm kinda regretting paying 10 dollars for it as as it is, it can't be used.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2015-04-21, version 2.0.7*

Hard to use. I expected more for the price...

### 1/5 — terrible

*2014-05-09, version 1.4.2*

This app is just absolutley terrible. Dont waste your money. Dont be dumb enough to get this.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Brilliant app!

*2024-05-10*

Amazing app, but can you please upload a video of how to rig from scratch please, I’m finding it so confusing!!

### 5/5 — Thank you!

*2021-01-31*

Searched high and low for an application with the tools and capabilities of this one. I agree with the other positive reviews. Thanks again.

### 5/5 — Absolutely Fantastic

*2018-12-06*

I found everything I needed to complete my project with this app. Great features meet excellent ease of use. Exporting a transparent render was the cherry on the top.

### 5/5 — Incredible 3D modelling app that beats everything else currently available!

*2018-10-29*

This is by far the strongest and most versatile 3D design app available on the iPad. Vector Studio is vastly more user friendly and therefore fundamentally more usable than desktop equivalents such as Sketchup, Maya, Houdini, Cinema 4D and the like. I’ve always felt touch interfaces to be inherently well suited to design and modelling and it’s really baffled me why the iPad has been basically ignored as a serious 3D ideation creation platform for so many years, especially with the processing power of the iPad Pro. Vector Studio would be a great place to initiate ideas, iterate, and even render with the inbuilt rendering engine. The only comparable iPad app available is Shapr 3D. The others don’t even come close. Sure, it could do with some polish in some areas and more workflow tutorials, but it’s brilliant and very intuitive overall. It’s about the same cost as 3 cups of coffee, so buy it and try it!

### 5/5 — Great 3D app

*2018-01-19*

This 3D app CAN import my Lightwave models (files)!
Fantastic!
It has very nice tools and adjustments, and can place textures (skins) on to your models.
Only wish it had Transparent map capability, and also casting shadows from the lights.
But other than that, a wonderful app.
Well done!

### 5/5 — We love Verto Studio !

*2017-09-05*

The ability to create 3D models both on the iPad and in VR on the Oculus Rift is awesome!

### 5/5 — Excellent 3D implementation

*2017-09-03, version 2.3.1*

Easy to use, but powerful.

### 5/5 — Impressive

*2017-08-07*

Edit: another update another rating.

Slowly but surely VertoStudio is starting to bring the kind of features I've been wanting to see added in. Thank you to the developer.

-------

Of the limited amount of actual 3D modeling applications on iOS. This one stands out and shines.

Tldr. I recommend this app as it seems to have a bright future ahead of it and it's not cad.

The developer has clearly worked really hard on this application throughout its years of release. And just looking at the plans for the next release is also showing great promise.

The app itself is very clean and simple. It's performance is acceptable and in most cases it's very fast. But it does lag when switching to the edit mesh view where you can select verts/faces if you happen to be editing a higher polygon model. So this is something you would wanna avoid if you can

I would say feature wise, the app has the basics of a professional 3D modeling application. It definitely does need more features in order to truly allow full on creation on an iOS device. But considering what it already offers and the fact that this is for iOS, it's really impressive and I feel the developer does have user's interests at heart. So I'd bet that in the future we'll see more features for editing meshes to make things easier.

With that said. If you want a proper 3D modeling application (none of the CAD stuff that seems to lack texture support etc) for iOS. Look no further. Thank you to the developer for all the work you've put into this.

### 5/5 — Wow, just wow.

*2017-02-10, version 2.2.2*

This is, by far, the most powerful app of its kind for the iPad.

Versatile. Capable of extraordinary effects. Though it's learning curve is a little steep, mastering this true 3D artists' tool is well worth the effort. If you just like stacking blocks, or you are determined to render a human face down to the pores in its virtual skin, this app is amazing.

The degree to which you achieve realistic renderings is limited only by your imagination.

### 5/5 — Slow updates

*2016-07-23, version 2.1.4*

I love verto studio but the updates are really slow wish the updates would be more frequent.
