## What is ViaNJ?

ViaNJ helps NJ Transit rail riders get from departure board to ticket faster.

• See live rail departures, boarding status, service alerts, and track predictions.
• Explore active trains across the system with Rail Radar.
• Open a departure to view its route, reported live train location, stop progress, station times, and track history.
• Set a local arrival reminder for a selected train and future stop.
• Review recently departed service and save favorite stations.
• See clearly labeled, unconfirmed possible stop changes when current and historical service evidence suggests the official stop list may be lagging.
• Ask ViaNJ to explain the displayed journey facts, with on-device processing when supported and a privacy-conscious cloud fallback.
• Keep issued tickets organized with activation and Apple Wallet tools.
• Recover tickets from NJ Transit receipts when needed.

With When In Use permission, ViaNJ can also show your location on rail maps. Your location stays on your device and is not stored or transmitted.

ViaNJ Pro is an optional $4.99/month auto-renewable subscription that unlocks Rail Radar, live journey maps, train arrival reminders, journey explanations, service-pattern insights, Rail Passport, recently departed trains, integrated NJ Transit ticket purchasing, automatic ticket import, purchase recovery, and private iCloud ticket backup.

NJ Transit fares are separate: NJ Transit shows and charges each fare through its secure payment provider. Fares are not included, free, or discounted with ViaNJ Pro.

A subscription is not required for schedules, alerts, existing tickets, manual receipt recovery, activation, or Apple Wallet.

• Automatically detects newly issued NJ Transit tickets after checkout, with guided recovery when extra rider confirmation is needed.
• Shows ticket expiration dates and improves ticket activation, recovery status, and action layouts.
• Handles checkout finalization and multi-ticket activation more safely.
• Improves journey location estimates after passed stops and keeps rider location constrained to rail maps.
• Rail Radar now follows NJ Transit line colors and presents journey status and delays more consistently.
• Adds privacy-safe diagnostics to improve reliability without collecting ticket or payment contents.

ViaNJ 1.4 makes live journeys clearer and more useful:

• Station rows now show clean local times without raw dates or seconds.
• Pro riders can set or cancel a local arrival reminder for a selected train and future stop. Reminders use the NJ Transit time shown when selected and do not silently reschedule.
• When a preceding train is cancelled, ViaNJ can show clearly labeled possible or likely added stops based on current and historical station evidence. These remain unconfirmed until NJ Transit shows the train on that station board.
• Explain This Train summarizes displayed journey facts, delays, stops, and service-change context. Supported devices use Apple Foundation Models on device; an optional privacy-conscious cloud fallback is available elsewhere.
• Rail Radar shows active trains across the system using reported vehicle coordinates, with line and delay filters.
• Journey maps show the scheduled route, reported live train location, stop progress, and track history.
• Rail Passport lets Pro riders save journeys they choose.
• Recently Departed expands from 90 minutes to the prior 24 hours.
• Ticket details prioritize activation and Apple Wallet actions while keeping long station names readable.

Plus performance and reliability improvements across rail data and ticket recovery.

Ticket recovery is now clearer and more reliable.
• Import every ticket from a multi-ticket NJ Transit receipt.
• Recovered tickets remain New until you choose to activate them.
