Even when login in with my provider can’t watch anything old or new. What tops it off that is so bad with app is customer service is even worse. I email them back and forth and then making me doing all work and blaming me and my provider, when real problem is them. They don’t even deserve 1 star. Good luck trying to use a free pass. You will try to use one but it will use all of them. When you start a video you better just keep watching because if you try to pause then it will just stop working and start the video over. Just a terrible awful experience. Vice doesn’t seem to care because nothing has been done for close to a year. The last update didn’t help at all. Fix your app so we can watch your content! Shows won’t start, if they do the ad delivery is broken, very hard to watch. It is a shame, considering a lot of the news and documentary content is very much worth watching. Please fix the app! ### 1/5 — ViceCrap *2022-10-22, version 1.8.1* App does not work at all. Used my tv provider to login and any video I try to watch I’m met with the “Authorization Failed” screen. Does not matter if I delete the app, reinstall, clear out the cache. Nothing works and it’s unfortunate because Vice has many good documentaries but the app is complete and utter garbage. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Tv ads every 5 mins and they freeze sometimes *2024-01-28* Tv ads every 5 mins is the biggest problem. I can’t get through one episode without wanting to turn it off. And they freeze sometimes, Ya I don’t think I can get through the whole season of Q and I really like the show. I’ll watch it when it doesn’t have ads someday I guess. Not sure why they purposely ruined the shows with so many commercials. ### 1/5 — Buggy, broken app *2023-12-18* As stated by multiple reviews, the Vice TV app is so riddled with bugs that it is rendered nonfunctional. The developer seems to have neglected the app, given that the last update was >1 year ago, despite repeated reviews specifically describing persistent and pervasive bugs. Apple should remove this from the App Store until the developers demonstrate some baseline competence with regards to addressing these show stoping bugs. ### 1/5 — Will some TV Network please fund this channel I heard they filed bankruptcy *2023-10-20* Because right now this is the time when like all the good reporting would happen with virus but there’s nothing because I heard they filed a chapter 11 bankruptcy and I haven’t seen any new Contin come except like weird horoscope emails once a week and so I guess they’ve just resorted to web news but that’s just really depressing ### 1/5 — Absolute worst app I’ve ever downloaded *2023-10-03* Since i bought the first iPhone, this has been the worst app I’ve ever downloaded (the Vice Apple TV app is just as terrible) anytime i try to log into my tv provider, i get a server error. If I try to use a free pass, sometimes the video loads, other times it doesn’t. If the video doesn’t load and you try to close the app and go back in, it takes away one free pass. If the video does actually play, you can’t pause, rewind or fast forward because none of the buttons respond. After the first few minutes, an ad plays then once the ad is over, the show restarts from the beginning. Sometimes the volume works, sometimes it doesn’t. Its done this on multiple phones and multiple iOS versions. It’s absolute trash. ### 1/5 — Too many bugs and commercials to actually use *2023-09-21* When watching a show, after you make it through the commercials, you lose the video functions like seek, play, and pause. Then when it goes to yet another commercial, the audio of the show is still playing along with the commercial! It can’t save your spot in your show, so you’re always starting from scratch and seeking - until you lose the seek function and are simply stuck. This app is terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. ### 1/5 — Impossible to use *2023-08-30* This app repeatedly crashes. I can’t watch more than 10 minutes of a show before it crashes. It is missing basic functions, like the ability to search for a show. Also, having only one advertisement play over and over is very irritating. ### 1/5 — Literally the worst *2023-08-14* Don’t bother trying to pause or choose another episode to watch because it won’t let you. The app is horrible and there are so many glitches that make it impossible to watch any content. Yet they clearly don’t care. ### 1/5 — Freezes more than plays *2023-08-12* App constantly freezes up. Basic functions don’t work *2023-08-08* This app is awful. If you minimize and reopen the app, the buttons to resume playback disappear half the time. You have to leave the video and come back, and then it will punish you with relentless, repetitive ads. You can stream whatever show is available as long as you connect to your tv provider. There are adds between the show but only 1-3 that are fairly short depending on the show you are watching. You are able to go to the main page easily and it automatically takes you to the next episode of the show. I appreciate this app! ### 5/5 — Works Perfectly Fine for me *2017-10-23, version 1.2.4* I have no idea why so many people are having trouble with the app. On my iPhone 7+ I've used this app for around a week and have only had one problem with it. This problem being the minimize screen button disappearing when I was in full screen. However everything else has worked perfectly fine. ### 5/5 — Abandoned *2017-07-23, version 1.2.3* Favorite show. Wake up America and see what is all around you and what has happened to our country. I feel most people just don't realize they can see the death of our country. It is a real eye opener. Young man that is the host is one heck of a skate boarder. King of the road another show I like but for the life of me I don't understand why these abandoned malls and other places aren't turned into places for skate boarders. I think old people just forgot what it was like to be young. So sad. ### 5/5 — Help with Chromecast *2017-01-16, version 1.2.3* VICE and the shows are sweet and overall app design is great. However, it does need some help with cast function. When I select cast it will not cast the video I'm currently watching and when I select a new video it ends up making me wai through another 25 second commercial... and if I want to watch another video I have to go through the same process again, which is very annoying. ### 5/5 — VICELAND THE TV CHANNEL/Not the app. *2016-12-20, version 1.2.3* Although I'm not reviewing the app yet, the tv channel is one of the best if not the best channel to be launched in a very long time! Keep the important & very informative documentaries coming!! Although I personally don't care for a few, it's just one opinion of many. & to all the older haters yes u the female caller, put the home shopping network back on & shut up!! It's a new up and coming channel, obviously there's gonna be shows that need to be weeded out. I honestly don't know of any other channels telling it how it really is here in the land of the supposedly free and democratic U.S.!!! Please Continue to film & air the different documentaries and shows!! Keep UP THE Good Work! Stay neutral and keep doing what you're doing! Hope this is only the beginning! ### 4/5 — Best network/company/programs EVER *2017-08-11, version 1.2.4* Viceland is a HUGE inspiration to me. I love everything they do and almost every single show. They are the blueprint to everything I am trying to do with my life and my goals as an entrepreneur. So it pains me to not give this app a perfect score. The problem is that after connecting with my cable provider that I watch VICELAND one daily it tells me that my service doesn't have the channel, therefore I can't watch shows on the app. I've gone to Frontier and I've gotten them to zap or do something and now the app allows me to watch Desus and Mero BUT when I try to watch anything else it gives me the "This Network Is Not Included in Your Current TV Subscription". That doesn't make any sense, I'm watching D&M how is going let me watch just one show on this channel and say I don't have the channel for the other shows? Please help. Thanks - Biggest Fan. ### 4/5 — Chromecast experience could use some improvement. *2017-01-29, version 1.2.3* I want to start by saying Viceland is currently my favorite channel on TV right now. You're opening eyes around the world and educating the masses on what's really going on around them. Keep up the awesome work and keep giving the middle finger to networks who only air reality TV shows. I primarily use the app with Chromecast and noticed a few bugs your developers might already be working on. 1. ADs It would be nice if your ads played on the TV before showing your selection instead of playing on your device. I constantly find myself closing out the app before your ads finish playing on my devices. Closing the app before ads run prevents the app from casting selected shows. Casting ads on tv before showing desired content is a common user interaction used by other Chromecast enabled apps and (in my opinion) a better user experience. 2. Restarting Shows Taking my phone out of rest mode with the Viceland app running in the background restarts my show. Basically I'll cast a show, watch it for a bit, then go to do something on my else on my phone. If the Viceland app is opened upon unlocking my phone, it restarts whatever show I was watching. That's it! Lol. Thanks for taking the time to look into my 1st world problems. ### 3/5 — Excellent content/ Abysmal Interface *2022-02-01, version 1.8.0* I’m torn. The content is great. Informative, interesting, well written. But it’s that crappy app that keeps going down for days and weeks on end that I hate. So 5-star content with a 1-star app make this a 3-star review. ### 3/5 — The ads are the worst! *2022-01-31, version 1.8.0* Love the app. I get to watch all of my favorite shows from VICE (except for a few I wish were in here) when I’m not at home. My biggest complaint is forcing people to watch 5 minute ads. It’s truly absurd. I’m glad we can skip some but the 5 minute LASIK one where we’re forced to watch an eyeball get lasered is beyond annoying and cringey.
