I use my app at least once a week and every 2 weeks I get to the counter and open the app only to be held at a loading screen. Not being able to access the QR codes to load points, I order without using the app only to see later that it needs an update again. It feels like a conspiracy. They promise you rewards for being loyal but then make the app in such a way that you are not able to use or access these loyalty rewards due to system updates. ### 3/5 — Rating after every use is annoying *2024-08-30, version 5.4* App works well and usually there aren’t any issues. So far, we’ve had ordered the same drink at various Vida e Cafés around the Western Cape, and only Vida e Café at Tygervalley makes our Caffe Mocha just right. The perfect amount of Chocolate and coffee. Somehow the other outlets can’t seem to get the combination correct, but nevertheless, we enjoy the Vida e Café experience no matter where we visit. App for a great coffee shop with fantastic staff generally *2026-03-01, version 5.9.6* Particular since upgrade and introduction of biometrics, the Vidae Cafe App often will not move beyond skip or setup biometrics. What coffee loyalty program needs biometrics in fact any significant security? If someone is able to score a free cup of coffee from you they probably need it more than you do. And then there are days , regularly, around my capetown hood that are just offline several times a month. And so frustrating for staff they have to take the brunt of people’s irritation. ### 1/5 — App crashes all the time *2026-02-14, version 5.9.6* This has been the most frustrating app experience I’ve had in a long time. 90% of the time the app hangs and is unusable even in wifi connectivity. What is the point of a loyalty app if you can’t gather loyalty points in the moments when you need to? ### 1/5 — app wont open/launch (version 5.5) *2024-11-26, version 5.5* since installing the latest app update (v5.5) the app cannot open/ launch on my iphone 15 pro (ios17) at all - it just bombs out. which means i cannot use the app to order, use my app wallet money, earn points, NOTHING. there is no app support i can contact. please fix this!!! ### 1/5 — Faulty *2024-05-25, version 5.2* Used to work fine. Now cant delete messages and have a red notification stuck over it all the time for unread messages. Sloppy coding. Stuff like this makes you use your credit up, delete the app, and go somewhere else. Petty? No. Their app has become an in-your-face platform for advertising, while others make just as good coffee without pestering apps. ### 1/5 — Unable to reset pin and log in *2022-12-29, version 4.1* Tried resetting the pin to log in but keeps telling me my account has been locked I have to reset pin to log in but same message appears. Only reason I bought from vida was because of there good reward percentage but if I can’t accumulate cashback then there is definitely better coffee shops elsewhere ### 1/5 — Double Charging App *2021-11-15, version 3.9* This app causes more harm than good. We have been double charged on several occasions via this app and it leads to endless emails and needless communication. One of these double charges happened while we passed through George and Casey from head office wanted us to drive back from Heidelberg to George for a refund via our credit card. If you guys can’t work out the kinks in your app please don’t expect the customer bear the brunt for your incompetence and inconvenience them. ### 2/5 — Needs to be made simpler *2025-06-07, version 5.6* . ### 2/5 — App is great which online…. And then… it lacks loyalty *2023-04-06, version 4.1* About half the time I’m struggling to get to my loyalty or in-app payment to pay for my order, and is see the spinning wheel of patience. Meanwhile I’m buddy holding and aggravating the queue behind me, till I get eventually admit default and default to one of my regular payment methods without any kind of loyalty. Other half of the time the Vida store is “offline” missing any kind the loyalty. It’s apparent load shedding is here for a while and between network or connectivity issues, we seem to lack a partnership that will work despite these circumstances. Come Vida, show us some loyalty and enable offline loyalty though offline app capability. ### 2/5 — Slow and too many steps *2019-09-09, version 1.1* The old Vida app was great. Sometimes it’s the staff and sometimes the stock of items. I jump between Constantia, Steenberg, Three Arts and Cavendish. The Cavendish one is so bad that it shouldn’t even be called a Vida. But I keep trying. What can I say. Orders are made properly, coffee is fresh, and there’s real attention to detail. If you ask for something specific — like a latte extra hot — they actually do it properly. No eye-rolling, no half measures, just competence and care, which is surprisingly rare. It’s a consistently pleasant experience: good coffee, friendly people, and a team that clearly takes pride in what they do. It’s not just coffee it’s passion it’s love for people that keeps me coming back. Mpume to be specific is my favourite character. He loves being a barista. He does it with a smile that could light up the world. Today they told me the store is closing down soon and it saddens me because as their time ends here so does mine.
