It doesn’t let you compress anything without paying a monthly or yearly subscription, which is just completely ridiculous

10 bucks a month or 30 bucks a year for a video compressor is absolute Highway robbery. This is the type of app you would at most pay a one time purchase price for but honestly, there should just be an open source freeware version without spyware and garbage. 

It’s not that hard to build an app to compress videos. There’s lots of free software libraries to build that kind of stuff.
