## What is Vidimote for Safari?

Control playback, speed (& more) of web videos in Safari - with this clever web extension.

The Vidimote upgrades for your video watching experience:

• SPEEEED: watch videos at up to 2 x original speed, finely adjustable in 5% steps. Save time watching videos - without missing out on any content. Or watch a live stream's recorded part at increased speed - until you're "back to live".

• CONTROL: jump ±10 seconds, use the position slider and - of course - play and pause.

• SKIP: quickly skip to the end of a video you don't want to see

• ACTUAL TIME REMAINING: see how much _actual_ time remains to the end of the video - adjusted to the playback speed.

• LIVE STREAM CLOCK: see the approximate clock time for your current position in the live stream, making it really easy to find f.ex. the beginning of a show.

• PICTURE IN PICTURE (PiP): move web videos to picture in picture - and continue watching while using other apps.

• FULLSCREEN: enlarge web videos to fullscreen.

• MUTE/UNMUTE: mute and unmute web videos.

Vidimote was written and designed to work with HTML5 web videos everywhere - and in our testing it has, including the websites of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Twitch, TED.com, Udemy, Khan Academy, MagentaTV, Twitter, TikTok, Reddit, Facebook, ownCloud, Nextcloud, Dropbox, Amazon Drive, Google Drive and OneDrive.

Given the sheer number of websites out there, however, we can't guarantee that Vidimote works with every single web video out there. If you run into a video where it doesn't work, please let us know via our website's contact/support form.

Please also make sure you have the latest iOS / iPadOS update installed. Especially the 26.5 update. It contained important bugfixes for Safari that also fix issues in Safari's support for (all) Web Extensions.

Leider geht die App nicht mehr. Safari stürzt sofort immer ab. Bitte Update dann wieder fünf Sterne

**Developer response:** Unter iPadOS 26.4 stürzt Safari in der Tab-Ansicht "kompakt" ab, sobald Sie das Menü einer beliebigen (!) Erweiterung öffnen möchten. Dies ist ein Bug in Safari 26.4, den Erweiterungen leider nicht beheben können. Apple hat diesen Bug in den Betas der nächsten OS-Version aber bereits behoben. Bis diese veröffentlicht wird können Sie das Problem vermeiden indem Sie in der "Einstellungen"-App unter "Apps > Safari > Tabs" einen anderen Tab-Stil wählen. Da dieses Problem alle Erweiterungen betrifft und schlicht ein Fehler im Betriebssystem ist, den Vidimote weder verursacht noch beheben kann, würde ich mich sehr freuen, wenn Sie dies in Ihrer Bewertung berücksichtigen könnten. Use it on a completely legal and definitely not a dodgy site to watch football. Worked perfectly, up until today where now neither the PIP or the full screen will work

Does not work on iOS 26

**Developer response:** Vidimote fully works on iOS 26. If you're running iPadOS 26.4, when you're using the new compact tab bar, opening ANY extension's menu will crash Safari. To work around it, please switch back Safari to the separate tab bar layout in the Setting app. This is a bug in Safari, affects all extensions and is not caused by Vidimote in any way. Beyond this, Safari can also have issues with new extensions right after they were installed. In that case, restarting Safari, disabling/reenabling the extension and - if that didn't help - rebooting the device typically fix the issue. This is not an issue of Vidimote or any other extension, however. Finally, please also verify you've given Vidimote the necessary permissions as - without these permissions - it, like any other extension, can not function. Overall works nicely but I was trying to set up keyboard shortcuts on macOS to invoke pip but it had to be done manually. Also when it’s enabled on YouTube, it hijacks the mute icon on the YouTube thumbnail until it disappears.
