Suddenly last month it started disconnecting with a “poor connection” message. My setup hasn’t changed so it’s hard to believe that the issue is not with the app. I love the ease of use of the Viewclix for my elderly parents but getting disconnected 3 or 4 times during a short video chat is becoming very frustrating. ### 3/5 — Not Xfinity Gateway compatible *2021-09-11, version 2.4* We loved the ViewClix when it worked … but after 4 months, mom’s Xfinity modem was updated to dual track 2.4 and 5 GHz. I live 6.5 hours away, mom is no longer able to do anything tech - she has no computer or smartphone and has no one to help her with this. Customer service has been great, but we just cannot get this to work, especially with my limited visits. And yes, I also tried to redirect the xfinity password, making it specific for the 2.4 GHz track. We are so disappointed. Bottom-line, ViewClix needs to address this issue themselves and not expect their clients to fix it. And now, I definitely recommend not buying ViewClix until the problem is fixed, if you are a Comcast Xfinity customer with one of their modems. ### 5/5 — Best gift for grand parents or anyone else!!! *2020-11-24, version 2.2* Here is the best product to allow photo sharing and make video calls with a grandparent. It is the easiest way to connect with a non-tech savvy elder. It allows linked family members to call and view the room the frame is located, without any input from the grand parent, using the app from ViewClix. It is so good, we are getting our own frame for the rest of the family to call us. Once we downloaded app, set up wireless password, and logged in the user phone app, it was up and running. Video chats are clear and sound is excellent. Photos are clear, and uploads only take a few seconds. One hint - upload one photo at a time and add captions. ### 3/5 — Needing an app update! *2020-11-24, version 2.2* I love being able to talk with my grandparents and see their faces-the app has been the best for that! But it is difficult to share photos between our conversations. When I select the next photos to upload, the window is blank but says I have multiple to choose from. I can still select images somehow because the red check marks pop up. It’s almost a game to select the last four I want to upload, the ones furthest down in the blank window, but even then it doesn’t work well. I’m able to preview the photos in the caption edit page and upload still and try make sure I didn’t accidentally select an old photo That I don’t want to share again. Bugs associated with uploading photos from the app need to be fixed! ### 3/5 — Constructive Criticism *2020-07-14, version 2.2* - There is a maximum limit of 4 photos that can be uploaded at one time. This is quite limiting, especially for initial setup as most people have their photos stored on their phones. Our PixStar frame has an upload limit of 30. - I do not believe you can preview a photo prior to selecting it. For instance, if you took 5 of the “same” photo in case people blinked, there isn’t a way in the app to zoom in and select the best one. PixStar allows for individual photos to be expanded fully for preview via the 3D Touch functionality. - Photos you intend to upload must be fully downloaded to your iPhone camera roll. If you’re using the “optimize storage” iPhone functionality, this app will give you an error and not upload the photos. This is a MAJOR problem. In all, I’m satisfied with the frame because it allowed me to accomplish my goal of being able to video chat with my parents. However, the app needs work and the frame itself seems to be a bit clumsy. I am hopeful that these suggestions find their way to the dev team and that a new version is released! ### 5/5 — A wonderful device *2020-06-11, version 2.2* I never seen my grandmother so happy! She literally pulled out her phone book to tell me the people she wants added to contact her. It’s super easy to navigate and just make sure you have a strong WiFi signal ### 4/5 — Coronavirus Savior! *2020-05-10, version 2.2* Mom used to be a whiz on her computer and iPad. As she aged, even clicking “Accept” on a FaceTime call became too much. Of all the apps I researched, ViewClix was the only one I thought would be simple enough. It’s been great. I set the option for it to allow incoming calls without her having to find the remote to accept. For her, it’s like someone rings her doorbell and she just grabs her walker and heads over to the frame. As the Coronavirus lockdown at her assisted living facility has meant no one can visit in person, and the residents are confined to their apartments, the only way we can “see” her is via the ViewClix. What a blessing to have that! ### 5/5 — Easy to setup *2019-12-28, version 2.2* My mom wants to be part of our lives, but could never deal with the challenges of technology. This bridges the gap. Now she is with us in all that we do. And I can check up on her and see her, so she can show me her life. Not sure why you would have to select photos and then leave the app to upload them. I uploaded 5, but it’s not letting me add any more. I’m unable to load a single photo, save for immediately after I make a video call. App hasn’t been updated in over a year. You get what you pay for. As it’s a one time purchase with no recurring monthly fee (nice!), the support is very lacking. ### 1/5 — Apple Saved Passwords??? *2020-10-18, version 2.2* Username and password fields to log onto the app don’t recognize my saved passwords. Website works fine because it correctly interfaces with my saved passwords. This is a problem because I use complex passwords and rely on saved passwords to keep track of them. ### 2/5 — App has stopped working *2022-06-27, version 2.4* App used to work great, but now the ‘share picture’ button freezes the app every time, rendering it useless and impossible to upload new photos. However, the app will not run until you grant it access even if you don’t want to send pictures with it. Why let you block it during installation and then make you grant access in order to run? ### 2/5 — Needs privacy tools update *2020-11-15, version 2.2* The app refuses to load once logged in if you haven’t given it camera or microphone permissions (even if you only plan to use it for photo uploads). It also cannot handle giving it access to only selected photos and crashes. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Vital for connection with someone in decline *2025-08-31, version 3.51* While there’s things I’d improve (wish the sound on the frame could go way up, wish I could upload photos more quickly), I can’t say enough about how important ViewClix has been to staying in touch with a parent in mental and physical decline. Mom is at the other end of the country in a nursing home, but I get to “pop in” and see her every day. I can tell if she’s having a good day or a bad one, I can touch base with caregivers, I can see if she’s out (for a meal or bingo), I can tell if anyone is paying attention to her. The last time I was visiting I told her I was leaving that day and she began to cry,.. until I said “but I’ll talk to you right here (pointing to the ViewClix) tomorrow.” That stopped her crying and she said “Oh! Okay!” And she loves sitting and watching the photos. Thank you, ViewClix. ### 5/5 — Works great for people in nursing homes *2024-05-12, version 3.0* They don’t have to click accept. You can just video call them. When they lose their phone all the time or forget to charge it. This can be used line a giant video chat. I never cared about sharing photos. Now I can keep an eye on my mom in the nursing home and basically know what’s going at any time. I would’ve paid serious bucks for this so for approximately $250 it was a steal! I was worried that I couldn’t make it work seeing that my mom is in a nursing home, but it worked right from the get-go with no problems! ### 5/5 — Instant video calls! *2022-12-20, version 2.5* Our senior loved one can't answer any type of phone anymore. We only use this device for video calls and now the group video calls. It's a maximum of 3 callers plus the frame. We already had a digital picture frame for them before this, so we still use that for looping pictures and video clips. Then this device for video calls only to reduce confusion. Using the larger screen model. The external microphone has static if placed incorrectly or near other electronics. While placed correctly there's still feedback. But this is still an amazing solution! Love it. ### 5/5 — Amazing Way to Keep in Touch with a Loved One! *2022-11-24, version 2.4* We have had no problems upload many pics to the ViewClix. We are able to keep in touch with video calls which was even more helpful during Covid. The memory care place has been very helpful with fixing things (see below) so that we can have a good visit. The only issues have been user issues. Those with Alzheimer’s tend to derail all the things. She unplugs it or unplugs the mic and puts it elsewhere. Loses the remote. She was unable to use her phone for Facebook, texts, calls, etc. Her stroke just happened to be around Covid and with her medical conditions, could not have visitors. This was a lifesaver to keep her connected to her family-kids, grandkids, great grandkids- all able to post pictures and call on a screen big enough for her to see. Highly recommend… ### 5/5 — My mother loves it *2022-02-10, version 2.4* We bought the ViewClix for mom and she has completely enjoyed it. Especially loves that the grand kids can post pictures. Basically we have not had any big problems. When we first purchased it, we had to add 2 external speakers as the one on the back of the monitor were very poor. I call and talk to her every couple of days which she enjoys more than a phone call. For the family it is wor every penny. ### 5/5 — It’s wonderful *2021-06-26, version 2.4* My mom is in memory care and hasn’t used a phone for a couple of years. It wasn’t a concern while my dad was with her but, after his recent death there was no easy way of talking with her. I had to either visit in person or call one of the staff and ask if they could take their phone to my mom so I could talk with her. I knew I needed something super simple. Even something like a Grandpad with auto answer would be to much. I consider an Amazon Echo Show, but liked the simplicity of ViewClix. Set up was very easy. I did get her her own on WiFi at $35 a month, because I didn’t want any bandwidth issues that could cause confusion for mom. I love that people on her share list can up-load photos and add a caption. Having the photos is something I can tell she really enjoys. I can’t say enough about what a wonderful tool this has been for us.
