## What is Vigil Earth?

Vigil Earth watches the places you care about and tells you when something matters: severe weather, floods, storms, wildfires, earthquakes, reported incidents and changes to travel advice. Add Home, Mom's place and your next trip, then get on with your life.

ONE ALERT, NOT A NEWS FEED
Vigil Earth stays quiet until something reaches one of your places, then tells you once, with what to do next. You choose how close counts for each place. Hide anything that isn't your business. It comes back if it gets worse or reaches one of your places.

FOUR KINDS OF TROUBLE, ONE QUIET APP
• Weather: National Weather Service warnings, matched to the exact warning area, on your Lock Screen as they are issued. Watches, advisories and statements wait in your inbox. A seven-day forecast for every place, with extreme heat, wind, rain and cold flagged.
• Disasters: floods, storms, wildfires and earthquakes, with their real impact areas.
• Travel advice: for every country, from the UK, US or Canadian government. You hear about it if the level rises.
• Reported incidents: unrest and accidents near your places, always labelled as reports.

WHEN IT MATTERS, THE NEXT STEP IS ALREADY THERE
• Checklists for each place's real hazards, based on UK, US and Canadian government guidance.
• A call button for emergency services.
• Ask questions about your places in plain words, on iPhones with Apple Intelligence.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No sign-up needed. Photos of your home never leave your phone. Your location is used once, when you ask, and never tracked.

FREE FOR YOUR HOME

Vigil Pro is a yearly subscription. New subscribers get 7 days free, then it costs $24.99 a year in the US. Prices in other countries are set through Apple and shown in the app before you buy. Payment is taken through your Apple Account. If you start the free trial, you are charged when it ends unless you cancel before then. Vigil Pro renews automatically each year unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current year. Manage or cancel any time in Settings › your name › Subscriptions. If Vigil Pro ends, Home and travel advice stay free.

Vigil Earth is an information tool. It is not an emergency service and does not replace official warnings or emergency alerts. In an emergency, call the emergency number where you are.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.7 — 2026-11-05

A greeting on Home, by name if you'd like. Add your first name in Settings › Account.

Prepare is clearer. Each list shows its next step, how far you've got, and who issued any warning in force. Steps worth checking again come back on their own, and Remind me sets a quiet reminder for a step.

The new One step widget puts your next step on your Home Screen or Lock Screen.

Share a warning in force as a picture card, or a checklist as a one-page PDF.

Four tabs: Home, Travel, Prepare and Map. Settings is the gear at the top right of Home.

Travel advice opens on All countries. Flood records on a UK place fold away until you tap them. Alerts that have ended can be deleted from the archive.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-10-31

Flood records for UK places. Ask "Has this place flooded before?" and Vigil Earth answers from the official records: the flood warnings issued in England and Wales since 2006, the past floods the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales have mapped, and SEPA's flood maps for Scotland. Every UK place now has its own Flood section.

Smarter place finding. Ask now finds places the same way the search box does. When a name is shared, like Miami or Springfield, it asks which one you mean.

"Where I am now" saves your town properly.

Update notices. When a new version of Vigil Earth is on the App Store, you get one notification. Turn it off in Settings, Notifications, App updates.

Plus fixes and improvements.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-10-29

Updated App Store listing with dedicated pages for the US and Canada. No changes to the app this time.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-10-29

Tap Open on our App Store event and Vigil Earth now goes straight to the Ask, ready for your question. The Ask runs on Apple Intelligence, answered on your iPhone or on Apple’s Private Cloud Compute.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-10-28

The Ask bar now runs on Apple Intelligence. Your questions are answered on your iPhone, or on Apple’s Private Cloud Compute when more power is needed. What you ask is never sent to us, and by Apple's own design, never stored or seen by Apple.

Vigil Earth now also covers the United States and Canada!

Official weather warnings from the National Weather Service and Environment and Climate Change Canada now reach your places there, in each service’s own words, alongside the Met Office in the UK. Choose which US and Canadian warning levels notify you in Settings.

Ask now checks official weather warnings for any place you name, and tells you plainly when a country isn’t covered yet.

Your forecast card puts any warning in force first, and flags windy and wet days ahead.

Prepare now includes the Government of Canada’s checklists, and lights up for warnings in all three countries.

Old alerts can be archived from your inbox and restored any time.

Plus fixes and refinements throughout.
