The menu appears faster

When you scan, VikSchewa now writes only what you see right away: name, translation, price, allergens, and the hints about hidden ingredients. Nutrition follows the moment you open a dish. Same information — noticeably less waiting.

Only the dishes that are an option for you

New in the results list: a switch that hides dishes containing your allergens. It covers both — what the menu states and what is likely in there as a hidden ingredient. A long menu becomes the handful you actually need to think about.

Your free scans belong to you

Until now they were tied to the network: if you sat in a restaurant Wi-Fi where someone had already scanned, you saw "limit reached" — without having scanned yourself. Now your Apple Account counts, whatever Wi-Fi you're on.

Allergen information is no substitute for certification. If you have allergies, always confirm with the restaurant.

Until now the whole allergen row glowed red — including ones you never listed. Now red says something about you: what's in your profile comes first, in red, with a warning mark. Everything else sits quietly beside it.

For what you scanned long ago, too

Add an allergen today and VikSchewa checks your history and favourites against it as well — not just your next scan.

"Nothing checked" is not "nothing found"

If your profile data ever becomes unreadable, the app now says so plainly instead of quietly showing an empty result.

Allergy explanation texts: your switch

The sentence explaining why a dish suits you is health information. That's now an explicit, separate choice: Settings › Data Processing › "Allergy explanation texts". Off by default. If you've been seeing it, switch it on once and it's back.

The bar at the bottom now shows clearly which section you're in.

Allergen information is no substitute for certification. With allergies, always ask at the restaurant.

A whole menu with everything Pro does: a picture for every dish, allergens, nutrition. Once per Apple ID, no subscription and no payment details. You decide afterwards, in your own time.

And you see what lands on your plate

Until now a language model estimated the calories. Now it only spots the ingredients — the math runs on figures from the US Department of Agriculture. Since only the kitchen knows the real portion, VikSchewa shows a range instead of a made-up number. Doesn't fit? Set it yourself to Small, Regular or Large.

From Ossobuco and crème brûlée to Xiao Long Bao, Khao Soi and Chicken Biryani. That's 277 cards waiting — one turns up with every scan.

Nutrition figures remain estimates. With allergies or medical requirements, always check with the restaurant.

Every scan now becomes a collectible card

213 cards are waiting: 168 dishes, 25 countries, plus discoveries and master cards. Every scan earns you one — across five tiers from COMMON to MYTHIC, with embossed frames, foil, and a reveal moment where a steamer trunk springs open.

Your past scans count. On first launch the app works through your history and unlocks what you already earned.

• Dish cards show their flavor profile: spice, acidity, savory, sweetness.
• Any card can be shared as an image.
• The stamp album has become the collection. Your travel rank, your XP and the travel pass stay exactly as they were.
• You can reach the collection from the account card in Settings.

Your travel collection is finally easy to find

Country stamps, the world map, your traveler pass and the year in review were all there already — just hidden behind an invisible swipe. Now a card on the home screen opens the stamp album directly, and all four live together in one place. It also shows how many countries you still have left to collect.

Also fixed:
• In light appearance, the dark cards showed black text on a black background: "My Account", your travel rank and the country progress were unreadable.
• AI-generated dish images are labeled as such again, everywhere they appear.
• Dish photos sat under a pale veil and looked washed out.
• The home button now also takes you back from a scan result.
• Long ingredient labels ran off the edge of the image.
• The back of the account card is marked with an arrow — previously only an invisible swipe opened it.
• The account card title no longer gets shortened at large text sizes.
• Trip names in your history now follow the language the app runs in.
