Detected the lens straight away and within minutes the software was updated. Very impressed! ### 5/5 — Version 3.0.2 Now Functional *2024-08-30, version 3.0.2* After the app launches you can see the Log In and Register buttons. Tapping either results in a featureless dark grey screen with no further progress possible. Edit: After some days the app responded and registration and operation was possible. The app enables some useful lens functions and is generally easy to use. The registration portion of the app is all in Chinese. The settings are in English except for the preset distances display. I will rate the app higher when a fully bilingual version is available. Edit:The app now has language selection. I rate it highly. ### 3/5 — Meh *2025-06-18, version 3.1.1* I want to remove my previous review but Apple is bad ### 3/5 — Not the best ease of use but it works. *2025-02-07, version 3.0.6* I downloaded this app to update my E mount Viltrox 16mm f1.8 lens. Unlike most Viltrox lenses this app is required. The upgrade process is weird. First register an account using an email you can get a code back from Viltrox with. Once registered then mount the lens to a compatible camera. Turn on the camera and be sure to set the timeout to 30 mins and also be sure the battery is more than 50%. It will take more than one upgrade if you are at firmware 1.0.0 and it’s not super fast. ### 3/5 — Works for firmware updates *2024-10-30, version 3.0.4* The app isn’t the most straightforward design but I can confirm it works for firmware updates. It definitely needs better English translations and instructions but it works. First connect your lens to a usb power cable. No camera needed. Launch the app. I had issues trying to make an account, so I just used the Apple sign in option. Once you are in the app, you scan for lenses and it will find your lens and let you update it. ### 2/5 — Try using cellular data instead of WiFi if you can’t log in or register *2026-04-26, version 3.1.3* Also be advised, this app does NOT work on lenses with a USB-C connection. It is only for higher end lenses with Bluetooth! Hopefully Viltrox will eventually update to a more compatible data server & offer descriptions in more languages besides Chinese.
