### 4/5 — Hitting F again should cancel navigation

*2025-03-25, version 1.5.1*

Hitting F once invokes link selection on the page. Hitting F again should cancel and exit this mode. However, right now the F key could be selecting some random link on the page

### 4/5 — Some thoughts

*2025-03-05*

1. You don’t need to make it Swiss knife by including so many feature (include dark mode)
2. Fix issue when you can’t `t` to open new tab while current tab in Reader mode.
3. Open source it and charge 3.99$ for iOS app.
4. When set “Scroll” to fast, it should instantly, remove any animation, ppl hate “Smooth Scrolling” on macos for a reason.

### 5/5 — Exceptional

*2025-02-15, version 1.5.0*

Working like a charm and no in app purchases. Can’t believe that I’m not dreaming

### 4/5 — Great extension, but search is limited to Google

*2025-02-01*

I’m really enjoying this extension, but I use DuckDuckGo as my preferred search engine and the setting to customize the search engine seems to be locked to Google. There’s seems to be a button to change the search engine but it’s in a “deactivated” state permanently. Maybe this is a feature planned for an upcoming release? As far as I can tell, DuckDuckGo takes the exact same URL params as Google, so it’s confusing why I can’t switch to DuckDuckGo instead.

**Developer response:** Thanks for using Vimlike! And yes you are right. Currently search engine is limited to google and it is planned to extend to others in future release. Stay tuned for the future relese!

### 5/5 — 10/10 execution

*2024-10-14, version 1.5.0*

The extension functions smoothly and predictably, with a cleanly implemented help menu. Its search and other features are top-notch. There is nothing close to this extension even in chrome browser

### 5/5 — Outstanding

*2024-09-11, version 1.5.0*

Always a risk writing a review after using an app for less than five minutes, but this is brilliant work and so much care has gone into it (the help screens are lovely, for example, as is the brief red highlighting when clicking links). This seems to run more snappily and reliably on an iPad (mini, 5th gen,, with non-Apple Bluetooth keyboard) than some Safari/Orion etc desktop extensions. Can’t believe it has not received more coverage.

### 5/5 — Better than Vimari

*2024-05-27*

Thanks Jasmine. This is a really good app with more key-bindings that Vimari which has stopped development. Feeling luck today that i decided to check if there is anything new around.

**Developer response:** Great to hear! Thanks for the comments!

### 5/5 — Great extension for iPad + keyboard users

*2024-03-14, version 1.4.8*

Vimlike extends Safari with keyboard access in the spirit of vimium, and is a fantastic execution of the concept. Being able to navigate web pages, search then for text, and manage tabs using vim-style keys is something I've lacked on iPad and this extension addresses that really well. The ability to customise the keys is very well thought out too.

### 5/5 — Cmd + L

*2024-02-22*

Sorry, idk where else to ask but is there a way to simulate the "o" and "O" from other chrome based vim plugins. That's the only thing holding me back from switching to safari.

**Developer response:** Hi - thanks for the feedback. At the moment, Vimlike does not support the inline textbox for url and search. So for now, only way is either Command+L for url or "t" to open new tab. I have this feature in the current backlog. And for the issue or suggestion, please send email to support@jasminestudios.net. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Scrolling issue is fixed

*2024-01-15, version 1.4.6*

Thanks to the developer! Very useful app.

### 5/5 — Super responsive and nicely integrated so far!

*2024-01-06, version 1.4.4*

Awesome experience, just works and seems to be very performant

### 5/5 — Works well!

*2023-11-25*

Great implementation of the Vim <--> Safari hookup. This extension is incredibly easy to setup and works fluidly. I especially appreciate the help "?" shortcut to see all list of all navigation macros in case I forgot them.

Some feedback to make this even better:
- link toggling is noticeably slower than seen in Vimium (the chrome extension). if this could be faster it would greatly improve my workflows
- in Vimium, there are shortcuts that allow you to move tabs either left or right. This would be very helpful to have to be able to organize tabs for your workflow.

Overall, great job with this. Love the simplicity and ease of use!

### 2/5 — Doesn’t work on google domains

*2022-01-09, version 1.1.4*

Doesn’t work on google domains for me.

### 3/5 — The "Default Mode" setting does not work

*2025-08-24*

I generally love this plugin but the bug I just found makes it unusable for me. I’ve sett it to default to insert mode globally, but on every page I load, it defaults to `normal` mode.

Going to uninstall it for the time being because I would like to just be able to type into a searchbar on certain pages, withotu first pressing i

### 3/5 — Lacking Bookmark/Favorite Support

*2025-08-15*

This is very close to being my favorite vim-support extension for every browser out there…however, it’s lacking support to open your bookmarks/favs. To be fair it may not be for lack of trying from the devs and it could be something Apple has locked down tight. If not, I would love to see the devs get that feature out and I would for sure be on board.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the comment! And yes you are right. At the moment, Safari does not allow accessing bookmarks thru API in extensions.

### 3/5 — Great, but no longer works.

*2024-10-28, version 1.5.0*

No longer works right on iPadOS 18, it won’t respond to any key presses until you tap on the page, making it sadly useless. Great app until now, vim key controls are essential for internet browsing with a keyboard! Although the developer says in iPadOS 18.1 the app works fine, I have updated to 18.1 and find that unfortunately the same problems persist.

### 3/5 — Great, but no longer works.

*2024-09-17*

No longer works right on iPadOS 18, it won’t respond to any key presses until you tap on the page, making it sadly useless. Great app until now, vim key controls are essential for internet browsing with a keyboard!

**Developer response:** Thanks for using Vimlike! It is an issue of iPadOS 18.0 Safari and it is fixed in iPadOS 18.1 beta. Vimlike works fine with iPadOS 18.1 beta. Please wait for iPadOS 18.1 to be released.

iPadOS 18.0 Safari has an issue that the focus does not move to the webpage when the tab is created or activated until the webpage gets the focus manually by the webpage touched / clicked, one of the arrow keys (up, down, left, or right) pressed, or tab key pressed.

Hence, shortcuts in websites using keyboard events of the webpage do not work (e.g. gmail shortcuts do not work). As Vimlike uses keyboard events of the webpage, Vimlike only works once the webpage gets the focus manually by the webpage touched / clicked, one of the arrow keys (up, down, left, or right) pressed, or tab key pressed as a workaround.

iPadOS 18.1 beta 4 has resolved the problem and Vimlike works fine.

### 3/5 — Last update is not a bug fix; it's bug injection

*2024-01-13*

Scrolling no longer works on iPadOS. Horrible. Pls fix.

### 3/5 — Great attempt !

*2022-01-18, version 1.1.4*

So far awesome experience… hope the devs continue to push more updates

### 4/5 — Great for vim-addicts

*2026-07-14, version 1.5.7*

A neat extension for those of us who have vim wired into their fingers!

### 4/5 — Good but seems to not support Colemak layout?

*2025-10-22, version 1.5.5*

Works fine and as expected - but it seems to ignore the fact that I have non-QWERTY layout installed?

### 4/5 — Some inefficiencies

*2025-06-11*

Good start, some observations:

Links do not fully exhaust available hints before appending more characters. I tried removing the amount of link hints to ‘yuiophjklnm’ and very often I have to type 3 characters instead, even when some of the characters aren’t on screen.

Also wish custom search url can be used instead of the default options, so I can redirect to a search engine of my choice or a gpt.

A visual mode would be very helpful for highlighting text (surfingkeys has a great visual mode implementation).

**Developer response:** Thanks for the comments and suggestions!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2026-06-12, version 1.5.7*

Author is genius

### 5/5 — Fantastic Extension

*2025-10-25, version 1.5.6*

This is a super nifty extension for anyone browsing the web and not wanting to rely on a mouse. I use this with a Clicks Keyboard on my iphone and it works fantastic :)

### 5/5 — Best Vim key implementation, but maybe have a unit test that checks amazon functionality an update

*2025-08-21, version 1.5.4*

Had to disable for now to navigate through Amazon

### 5/5 — Can be improved more

*2025-08-11, version 1.5.3*

1. I want open search result in the current tab
2. Some websites it cannot work

### 5/5 — Fantastic Extension for Keyboard Addicts

*2025-08-07*

This is by far the best and most complete Safari extension I’ve come across. It is functionally perfect, polished, and has a ton of features for every level of keyboard junkie. I prefer it to its Chrome counterpart – great to have this in Safari, and thanks to the developer for making this available!

**Developer response:** Thank you for your kind feedback!

### 5/5 — Good, but has a scrolling bug

*2025-07-19*

(iPadOS18.5) When scrolling (j,k, and space) the webpage seems to shake, unlike pressing up and down buttons. Another issue: can’t use “f” to press a button on the webpage, i.e. the “x” of an ad. It does show a letter when pressing “f”, but nothing happens when I type that letter.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback! Maybe try the scroll setting. It will not be like a native scroll but it could make it better for you.

### 5/5 — This extension is awesome

*2025-05-21*

I have one suggestion that would make it perfect for my needs. Would it be possible to have the new tab shortcut launch a customized url?

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback and suggestion! Let us take a look and include it in future releases.

### 5/5 — Replaced Vimari For Me

*2025-05-10*

Works very well and is actually actively developed and modernized for the latest Safari changes. Vimari was no longer reliable for me and Vimlike has been a successful replacement.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback!

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2025-04-24, version 1.5.1*

Really awesome! Absolutely love it! Very well thought out default keymap too

### 5/5 — Must have!

*2025-04-08*

This brings everything Vimium offers and more in a highly preferable interface and implementation. You won’t want to go back to a browser that doesn’t have this extension.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the kind comments! Happy to hear that you enjoy Vimlike!
