Welcome to the VIN Veterinary Drug Handbook (VVDH)

Everything you love about the VIN Veterinary Drug Handbook is now available in the VVDH app, included with your VIN membership.

This essential VINner tool was created by VIN Consultants with input from many other specialists, pharmacologists, and pharmacists. It includes basic drug information such as pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, indications, contraindications, therapeutic dosages, adverse events, and drug interactions for drugs commonly used in veterinary medicine. Whenever available, controlled studies and pharmacokinetic data are used to generate dosage information. However, some doses may be based on historical anecdotal use or published information from a case or case series. Listed references also include drug product information, textbook chapters, and conference proceedings.

The VVDH is regularly updated as new drugs and information emerge and with suggestions from VIN members.

Can’t even open the app. Have undownloaded and reloaded it several times- stuck on the blue loading screen.

Love the app! However, when I traded in my phone, the app now claims there’s still an account on the old phone, which I obviously cannot delete. Therefore, I can no longer use the app

**Developer response:** Thanks for the kind words.  Apologies for the delayed response.  We get lots of feedback and occasional support requests to feedback@vin.com and little here, as a result, I am just finding this today.

If you haven't already, please email feedback@vin.com for assistance.  The support team can quickly remove the prior device once we know your VIN login/email.  That will get you up and running immediately.

Thanks for your feedback.   Sorry you ran into this.  Since you reached this error message, I assume you are a VIN member, which is required to log in.  You discovered a bug we recently found in this relatively new app.   The error you experienced happens when certain devices attempt to access drug information via the cell network.  If you connect to WIFI, the issue will resolve in your current version of the App.

The issue has been addressed and is resolved in the next version currently undergoing testing.  Testing will be completed this week and the updated version released if no other issues are found.

App Update — Bug Fix
We fixed an issue where some drug monograph content was being cut off on the mobile app after inline reference numbers. The full text is now visible — no action needed on your end.

### 2.1.4 — 2026-05-21

This release has several improvements for easier use:
• The Drug Calculator automatically clears and resets when you switch drugs. 
• Your Notes on a drug refresh immediately after you edit them.
• The tabs for the top navigation bar stay visible while you are scrolling so you can get where you need to go easily.
• The ShowMe pop-ups have been removed so that you can start using the app immediately.
• There are stability improvements to keep the app from freezing and lagging.

There are also corrections to ensure accuracy:
• Drug and category names now allow for special characters.
• The app and OS version have been corrected on the Device Information page.

### 2.0.9 — 2026-02-19

1. The top of the page has a cleaner look, with just Home, Drug Name, Rx Category, and Notes right over the Search bar.
    - My Recent Articles now appears on the Home tab for easy access. You can get there without a new screen popping up.
    - The Theraputic Category tab is now the Rx Category tab. You’ll have access to the same information about a drug’s regulatory classification, prescribing status, and dispensing requirements.

2. VVDH is easier to personalize. Click on your avatar in the top right corner to get to the Settings menu. Go to Preferences to customize the look and workflow of the application to suit your needs.
    - For example, the default font size of the app is now Medium. You can change the default font size to Large or Small in your Preferences. Your content will still be readable and properly formatted if you change your preferred font size.
    - You can also give feedback from the settings menu. Clicking Give Feedback will take you straight to the Message Board for VVDH feedback. Login and fire away. We’re always looking for ways to improve the app!

3. You’ll see three bars at the top left. Click them for a quick and easy way to navigate around the app.

4. You can always get back to the Homepage easily by clicking on the VIN logo.

Notes added to VVDH drug monographs will appear in both the desktop and the mobile app versions of the VIN Veterinary Drug Handbook, ensuring key information is always at your fingertips.

How to Access Notes in the VVDH App
Notes can be viewed on individual drug monographs, as well as in the Notes tab. To quickly find a specific Note, tap the Notes tab, then enter a related term in the search bar.

From the Notes tab, you can also:
- Tap the edit icon to view or edit individual Notes.
- Toggle the Expand All Notes option to view your full Notes.
- Tap the trashcan icon to delete a Note.

How to Access MyNotes in a Web Browser

Notes you create are stored in MyNotes and can be accessed from the left navigation bar and from MyVIN.
- Left navigation bar: Click on MyNotes, located second from the top.
- Main navigation bar: Select MyVIN, click Stuff, and select MyNotes.
