## What is Vindrose?

Vindrose puts everything you have to check before take-off in one place: restriction zones,
the wind where you are standing, and the rules that apply to your particular drone.

ZONES
4,383 zones from the Norwegian CAA's dataset ship inside the app. The zone check runs on the
phone and works without a connection. Tap anywhere on the map to check somewhere other than
where you are standing. The authorities' own wording is shown verbatim, never paraphrased.

WEATHER
Hour-by-hour wind and gusts from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, judged against your
drone's own wind limit. It turns amber before you reach that limit, because the forecast is
for ground level and it is windier at altitude.

YOUR DRONE
Add your drone from a list with checked specifications, or enter the figures yourself for
home-built and older aircraft. The app works out the subcategory (A1, A2, A3), whether you
must register as an operator, which proficiency certificate is required, and whether
insurance applies.

IMPORTANT
Vindrose is a planning aid, not an authorisation. It does not give you permission to fly.
NOTAM are not in the dataset — you must check those yourself at ippc.no. Nine security areas
are published without map geometry and cannot be checked automatically; the app names them.

Zone data from the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority via dronesoner.no. Weather from the
Norwegian Meteorological Institute. Maps from Kartverket. Vindrose is not affiliated with any
of them.

No account, no ads, no tracking. Your drones stay on your phone.
