Remotely lock and unlock? Remotely see charging status? It can do all those things and does… sometimes! And when it does, it literally takes a minute or two — it is THE slowest app you’re likely to use on your phone as it waits to hear back from the car instead of doing all that communication and retrying in the background. And automatic retries would be nice — starting climate in particular often takes a couple attempts, each taking at least a minute. So yeah, responsiveness could use a lot of work, as could features like turning on seat and steering warmers, etc. ### 2/5 — Sometimes it works *2024-12-20, version 1.6.30* Very buggy. You never know if it’s actually going to connect to the car or not. When activating remote climate control, it doesn’t remember the last setting and always defaults to 73F. You cannot turn on the heated seats or steering wheel. The home charger integration only shows current status and will not allow you to schedule charging. You cannot use your phone as a key. Turning on climate control remotely starts the car, but there’s no way to remotely shut the car down. Of course there’s also no way to manually shut the car down in person without locking it either, but that’s more of a car problem than an app problem. ### 2/5 — App works minimally *2024-08-08, version 1.5.9* I was happy to be driving a Vinfast but soon learned their app isn’t great. The remote is clunky, the onboard software is laggy, and connection to a vinfast home charger is problematic. Customer support is also lacking. Why there are so many issues when a company is trying to win over new and potentially long-term customers in the luxury EV market is beyond me. Get it right, Vinfast! ### 1/5 — Great Potential Marred by Unreliable App Experience *2024-03-03* I was really excited about my VinFast car, feeling it's quite underrated given all the features it offers. However, I've been consistently disappointed with the app's reliability. It fails to respond 9 times out of 10, whether I'm trying to open the doors, use the flash or horn, or even control the climate. This is a stark contrast to my experiences with the apps for my previous vehicles, a 2018 Mercedes and a 2020 Jeep, which were always dependable and made me feel confident in their functionality. With the VinFast app, it's as if it barely exists. I've attempted to troubleshoot by un-syncing and re-syncing my phone, ensuring the car is connected to WiFi, but nothing seems to work. I would never recommend this car anyone. Worst of all is when you’re driving and this pops alert’s of features stopped working all of sudden. Sometime I feel how did this car fit to driven on roads.. it’s so scary. ### 1/5 — Not working properly *2026-04-08, version 1.11.3* Very glitchy not working properly 80% of the time no update on app available it’s sending me messages charging interruption while car is not on charger I can go on and on. Same with the car VF9 pro very glitchy on software peace of junk. After 500 miles I need new motor! It was in shop for three weeks. Why is it that Asian countries can’t make a solid car? Never again Vinfast! ### 1/5 — Worst Vehicle Software I’ve Ever Used *2026-02-11, version 1.10.3* The VinFast app has been extremely disappointing. I’ve used vehicle apps from other brands over 10 years ago that worked better than this. It’s frustrating that VinFast can’t seem to get the basics right. In the two years I’ve had the car, there have been no meaningful software updates or new features. The mobile app barely works. On top of that, I haven’t been able to get Apple CarPlay to function properly for over a year. I had high hopes for VinFast, especially expecting software and continuous updates to be one of their strengths. Instead, both the in-car software and the mobile app have been the worst part of the experience. There seems to be little to no improvement over time. I can’t wait for my lease to end, and unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this vehicle based on my experience. ### 1/5 — Terrible dev *2026-02-10, version 1.10.3* I paired my iPhone again to activate the profile, but I still cannot remotely control my VF8 after the latest firmware update from the recall. The in-car profile still shows that remote functions are active. It worked for a few days, then suddenly stopped for no reason. (My VF9 can still be controlled remotely from the same iPhone.) Only 12 more months until I can return both of these cars. Can we have some one from PM to put this in the high priority list as a feature or hotfix whatever? Lock or unlock also need to work reliably. Can we have a status on whether the car is locked or not? Start the car remotely? Watch videos from the car directly from the app? Indicating whether the car has start or not? Etc. How Vinfast could show the world they are a serious player is by investing much more into their software design, repair and implementation. Once the product is made, we, the purchasing public can only decide if the vehicle is worthy of our support and praise is by the things that we interact with daily, the software. This app has all the right potential, but very slow refreshes, fixes, or newer versions. You have a window of implied support as s newer company in the Americas. Don’t waste it, don’t squander our patience. Show us by communicating better, more often, and with details. We are consumers who have chosen to be your customers with our hard earned dollars. Show us you are worthy……. ### 3/5 — Several bugs, lagging UX, needs more smart functions *2023-07-31, version 1.5.7* Climate control failed 9/10 times I tried it: first it showed “process takes longer than usual, please wait” then it showe “technical issue” error or “please close sunroof” Trip history never returns any data. Service schedule has bug, appointment time changes to current time of my phone every time I view the appointment, no options to schedule for mobile service.
