### 1/5 — Total scam

*2025-04-05, version 1.39.1*

The the value of my portfolio would decline dramatically at random times, and when I checked the individual wines within my portfolio, they were all relatively stable and I tried to reach out to Support and they were of no help and would just provide generic responses that wine prices may fluctuate and when I told them that I would escalate things if they did not respond, they just stopped responding Aalto together. Getting my money out is also been a huge hassle and I still haven’t been able to get it out and it’s going to take weeks more according to their website.

### 1/5 — Horrible investment

*2025-02-21, version 1.39.0*

Worst decision of my life to invest with this company. I have asked multiple times for them to sell my wine and return my money. They refuse to do what I ask. If you’re thinking about doing this, please reconsider.

### 1/5 — Absolute Scam

*2025-02-05, version 1.39.0*

Absolute Scam. No customer service. No proof the wine exists. If you try to move the wine they refuse to answer you. Do not use this!

### 1/5 — Awful experience put your money elsewhere

*2024-12-08, version 1.38.0*

I was really excited about the prospect of being able to invest in wine with vinovest, but my experience has been a total nightmare.

They make it extremely easy for you to deposit money and buy wine.

They wines they picked for me have not only been losing money, but I also am having trouble selling them. I started the selling process 3 months ago, and 1 case has sold.

Customer service has been terrible. They charge exorbitant fees, and when you try to sell your wine the bid ask spread is enormous.

Wouldn’t tell my worst enemy to invest with vinovest. Seems like a Ponzi scheme to be honest.

### 1/5 — DO NOT INVEST

*2024-12-05, version 1.38.0*

Do not invest in wine with Vinovest unless you want to lose your money.

I have had my wine for over 3 years and my dashboard shows a 20% return so far. As soon as I listed my wine for sale the return dropped to -30%….

Do not invest with this company/app unless you are looking to donate a monthly storage fee to them.

They charge you a storage fee based on the “value” of your wine and then tank the value as soon as you go to sell. This means you are paying inflated fees for your wine while it is realistically worth way less!!!

Such a scummy company… I can’t wait to sell my wine and take the loss and be done with them!!!!

Do not make the same mistake I made!!!

### 1/5 — Run!

*2024-12-01, version 1.38.0*

Stay away from this terrible product and platform. You will never come across a worse investment platform.

### 1/5 — Money pit

*2024-11-18, version 1.38.0*

As mentioned by other users, it’s difficult to get your investment back. The bid ask spreads are huge so no one is paying their theoretical market prices. Their buying power isn’t that strong resulting in mediocre purchasing price per bottle.

If you want your wine they charge insane shipping fees since the storage is in the UK, for me the US it was $400+ to ship 6 bottles. No point in buying my own inventory at that point.

The customer service is terrible, good luck trying to speak with a representative.

### 1/5 — Low Trust

*2024-09-23, version 1.38.0*

I’ve been waiting for weeks to get my money back from VinoVest, and it still hasn’t arrived. This raises serious concerns about trust and how they manage client funds. In today’s world, there’s no excuse for such delays, and it makes me question whether my money is even safe. If you can’t trust a platform to return your cash in a reasonable time, how can you trust them with your investments? Until they fix this, I’d be very wary of using the service.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2024-06-16, version 1.38.0*

Very poor returns over a three year period. IMPOSSIBLE to withdraw money and sell your wines. I’ve been attempting to do so, offering big discounts for months. Avoid this app like the plague.

### 1/5 — Deposit a small amount, and try to get your money back…

*2024-06-07*

The app and site are great, and the onboarding team is really responsive… UNTIL you try to get your money back! Then they disappear really quick! Stay away!

**Developer response:** Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are sorry to hear you may have encountered any problems withdrawing your funds. This is never the experience we want our customers to have.
Please reach out to our support team to be sure we can resolve this for you as quickly as possible. Our team is always available to help.
Thank you again.

### 1/5 — Negative investment returns + dodgy business ethics

*2024-05-30, version 1.38.0*

Not only is their investment strategy overly hyped and misvalued, their management fee is absurdly high. I have lost 10% of my portfolio value over the last 3 years due to the continuously falling wine value and expensive management fees eating into the non-existence product. In hindsight, I would've made 25%+ on S&P alone and Vanguard's management fee is 0.07%.

Decided to cut loss and liquidate my account 3 weeks ago and mentally prepared to take a bigger hit to sell my wines 20% below market (what they claimed to be at least) for a quick exit. It's been a month and one of the wine just wouldn't sell. Not sure if this is their tactic to not let customers cash out, because they have a term for full refund ONLY if ALL wines are sold.

I asked for a partial refund on 16 May, got their customer success team, Robyn, to help and connected my bank account to my Vinovest account and said the refund will take a week to execute and someone from accounting will make it happen. 2 weeks later, nothing, and Robyn stopped replying. This is not very confidence inspiring and absolutely not OK.

Dodgy business practice. Wondering if there are any class action lawsuits happening. If so, I will join the bandwagon if I don't get my money back by mid-June.

Invest with them if you don't like your hard-earned money.

### 1/5 — BAD EXPERIENCE-SCAM?

*2024-05-16, version 1.38.0*

Awful experience. From the get go, app does not work well, logs you out every time. Fees are so high that any gains you see are used to cover them. I finally listed my wine for sale. Wine was put in pending sale status in February. Two and a half months later no update, no money. Customer service can’t give any timeline, just a copy and paste response. Customer service has no telephone number. TAKE YOUR INVESTMENTS ELSEWHERE.

### 1/5 — Avoid

*2024-05-10, version 1.38.0*

I understand wine is long term and values fluctuate. However closing the account seems impossible. They charge fees originally from a cash balance and then charge an overdraft fee without warning that you need to add to the cash before charging it. No way to pause while you sell. Predatory way of charging and do not have customer in mind. Good way to lose a few thousand.

### 1/5 — Not Liquid At All!!!

*2024-04-17*

Despite the branding as an Everyman investing product, your investment is entirely illiquid and they make it difficult to ship or sell. It's unclear even how they mark your wines current value which is also suspect.

### 1/5 — Refund

*2024-03-17, version 1.37.0*

I ask to close account nothing in they took 160 dollars I’m glad it was just a small amount and you cannot get ahold of anyone

### 2/5 — App is crashing after “Transactions” is selected

*2024-03-12, version 1.37.0*

Hello.

I just downloaded the Vinovest app (version 1.37.0) on an iPhone running iOS 17.4.

The app is crashing 100% of the time after I select the “Transactions” option under wine.

I posted this using my @RandomiOSBugs Twitter account. Please investigate if you can, makes it very hard for new users to browse the app.

### 1/5 — Save yourself a headache and don’t use them

*2024-02-15, version 1.36.4*

Save yourself a headache and don’t use them. You will absolutely loose your money. Wines are inherently a long-term bet, and I’m not sure Vinovest will be around for that long (judging by the public reviews here and elsewhere, things aren’t going great for them).

Even if you do manage to invest in a winner, their marketplace has poor liquidity. Nothing ever sells at the “market” price. You have to accept a lowball offer if you want to sell anything at all.

### 1/5 — A black hole where money disappears

*2023-08-09*

It’s easy to buy wine using this app! It’s nearly impossible to sell wine here, or get your bottles shipped to you! Terrible to non-existent liquidity. Huge bid/ask spreads. Intractably awful customer service. You can buy wines here, in theory. But you can’t sell them, not really. Do you like taking a 20% haircut on wines you’ve owned for 6 months? Do you like listing wines bought on the same platform, recommended by the platform, that receive ZERO bids when listed for sale? If so, enjoy Vinovest. When asked to have the wines shipped to you, you get an excuse about the “extensive preparation” that will take 9 - 12 weeks at a minimum. To ship seven (7) bottles of wine worth $1,000. In my opinion, this operation has all the appearances of a Ponzi scheme. Avoid at all costs.

**Developer response:** Hello,
Thank you for your feedback. I am so sorry to hear your experience with Vinovest did not match your expectations.. This is never the client experience we want our investors to have.
We continually work to improve all areas of the customer experience, including the shipping process when a customer would like to have their wines delivered.
We strive to be transparent with our investors surrounding all aspects of their wine investment including the shipping process and the timeline for how long to hold wines before they reach maturity and ready to be sold on the open market and how long those sales could take to complete.
Our team would be happy to give you an update on your account. Please reach out to our support team at any time.
Thank you again.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Horrible fees, horrible liquidity, horrible user interface

*2026-02-01, version 1.44.0*

Impossible to turn a profit unless you pick that 1 in 1000 wine that goes parabolic due to the ridiculous fees, and don’t think about getting them shipped unless you own a full case so if theres no liquidity for the wine you buy you have no option but to sell super low.

### 1/5 — Complete scam, money trap

*2026-01-02, version 1.44.0*

Do not bother with this app or “asset class”. All of your investment will be trapped indefinitely. You cannot sell your wine, even at a significant discount. You cannot realistically ship wines to yourself - they charge you $800+ for a few cases. Unbelievable scam.

### 1/5 — Zero customer support or liquidity.

*2025-12-08, version 1.44.0*

They make the selling process impossible so you keep paying their stupid fee (on top of the transaction fee they charge you) I have never called support and been connectef with an agent. I have been wanting my money out of this scam for a year and I still haven’t.

### 1/5 — On the way out

*2025-11-26, version 1.44.0*

I think Vinovest days are numbered. The app has not seen any meaningful updates in a long time and is borderline unusable. Everything about Vinovest is about as bad as it gets for investing in wine.

### 1/5 — They’re kinda thieves

*2025-11-06, version 1.44.0*

They do anything they can to keep your money, and when you try to sell and close your account, they’ll price it to where it drags on so they can keep taking your monthly fee. Lost $2k just trying this out to see how it goes. I’d highly recommend avoiding. Even if you did do long term (say 15 years), the money they’d make off your monthly fee basically erases your profit

### 1/5 — SCAM

*2025-10-16, version 1.44.0*

Run!!! This app steals your money….. don’t download and certainly don’t “invest” they steal your money after you transfer funds in and they refuse to allow you to withdraw… needs to be looked into for potential crime!!! DO NOT USE THIS APP!!!! RUN

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2025-07-21, version 1.42.1*

The UI and functionality of both the website and app are downright terrible. Seems like they have given up on this platform.

### 1/5 — Run!

*2025-07-01, version 1.42.1*

Update: July 2025. My resolve that is company is a scam has only grown. They keep charging monthly fees, and the value of my “investment” has only decreased. While inflation and the markets are at record highs.
Stay away from this terrible product and platform. You will never come across a worse investment platform.

### 1/5 — Don’t do this. All the fees make your investment worthless

*2025-07-01, version 1.42.1*

I really liked the idea of this. But now when trying to sell. It’s been almost a year and no sell and during this time they keep charging me fees. Terrible business imo

### 1/5 — Scam

*2025-04-14, version 1.39.1*

Do not invest with Vinovest. You will never see your money again. I have been trying to withdraw my funds for over a month with no luck. DO NOT DO IT. It’s not worth it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great alternative way to invest and diversify

*2024-04-01, version 1.38.0*

I started investing in high-end wines using VinoVest and so far my return is a lot better than my 401K. I like that I don’t have to store the wine myself and risk bottle shock (or bottle consumption).

### 5/5 — Great way to invest at all price points and expertise levels!

*2022-06-21, version 1.15.0*

Vinovest is an essential app for building out your wealth. Whether you’re new to wine or know a lot about wine—the app is easy to understand and invest at all price points. I’m currently enjoying their trading feature and will continue to use over the months to come!

### 5/5 — Fluid and beautiful app!

*2022-01-21, version 1.4.1*

Finally able to manage my wine investments through my phone with this app! This app is incredibly smooth and is beautifully designed

### 5/5 — Awesome, sleek, and easy to use

*2021-11-11, version 1.2.0*

I love how easy it is to view my wine holdings and add to my portfolio whenever I see new exciting investment opportunities. Plus, it’s pretty cool to be able to pull up my phone and show my friends my virtual wine cellar 😊

**Developer response:** Hi hungrytrojan,

### 5/5 — Love it

*2021-11-09, version 1.1.1*

I love vinovest. Made investing in wine so easy!

### 5/5 — Great addition to an awesome product

*2021-11-08, version 1.1.1*

This app is the final piece for what is an amazing investment platform. So far I’ve had no issues, it’s been super smooth and easy to use. It looks really slick and makes checking my portfolio really easy and straightforward.

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2021-11-05, version 1.1.1*

I made 8% so far!! Great app

### 3/5 — Good and bad

*2023-08-02, version 1.34.3*

I appreciate the democratization of wine and whiskey investing. But the inability to transfer money out without contacting customer service is a big red flag. Feels like Hotel California. You can check in but you can’t check out (or it is very hard to).

### 3/5 — Ok but what else

*2023-02-18, version 1.29.0*

The app is just ok. There is not a lot you can do on the app. Extremely basic point and click. No planning no research no real value other than to see point in time data. Also there doesn’t seem to be any support to projected returns. Sometimes my wine is positive and then negative. No real reason supporting why. Additionally chat/email support is pretty slow and basic. I haven’t spent a lot of time here so maybe it’s better than my experience but everything is underwhelming.

### 3/5 — Good idea, poor UI, poorer performance

*2022-10-27, version 1.19.0*

I love love love the idea behind this app. What a great way for someone to get into wines for the first time. I popped in a few grand and let it do it’s thing…

The charts are god awful. Zero interactive function at all - though they’ve repeatedly said they’re “working on improving them.” When? Like an actual date, please?

The returns are worse. I have a managed portfolio, and they’ve made 4 different purchases for me. -2% -7% -9% and -26% returns on those purchases…. and I have the pleasure of paying a monthly fee for the privilege.

Investing in wine sounds like a lovely idea… but so far, I think I should have just invested in a pickle jar and buried the cash out back. The returns would have been better, and I wouldn’t have to pay a monthly fee for the service.

Love the idea. Disappointed in the execution.
