Unfortunately, the UI hasn’t been updated since its inception. While it was fine years and years ago; it really is lackluster now. Posts from more than a few years ago are not viewable anymore, defeating the purpose of the app. Sad to see, and hope it will get the refresh and attention this cool app deserves. ### 3/5 — Pictures don’t seem to load anymore *2025-03-29, version 2024.06.01* Just posted a bunch of cars but previous pictures that others posted don’t seem to load ### 1/5 — No email validation came! Unusable app. *2023-12-30, version 2023.06.01* I tried to sign up with 3 different email however not one received a account activation email. I’ve heard amazing things about this platform but I can’t seem to even set up an account. I also went though all the spam folders to check if it possibly went there with no success. Maybe there’s a bug or something. ### 2/5 — Needs complete overhaul *2023-11-17, version 2023.06.01* The app does it’s job but is lacking in UI improvements. For example when I log in I don’t want to see hundreds of random people’s post of regular traffic/auction cars on my Home feed from across the country. There needs to be a way to switch between your following list feed and public one. Or, maybe even make a proximity feed showing users updates around certain areas (10-50-100 miles away from you). There needs to be a certain “favorite” button for a particular car/model that people can follow so when users tag it you can see it in your feed. Maybe make car albums or a different picture layout because scrolling endlessly is tiresome and you can accidentally revert to the top. Search interface you can add popular cars on the app or popular cars in the area or something because right now it’s very bland. The whole search thing needs to have bigger icons. As for profile section - the layout needs to be something of an instagram. Like I said i can’t even scroll down to the bottom of my own feed because the app bugs out and kick me out or starts showing same cars. I’m sure there are so many other things that can be done to improve the app. ### 1/5 — App not working. No explanation with the message. There is no info about password requirements so I have no idea if my password caused the error. I tried again and I get a message saying my email is registered. Stupid app! ### 3/5 — This app needs a few updates *2023-02-22, version 1.9* Been a loyal user over the last few years, love the app. But things I’ve noticed are: 1. You can’t search for lists you don’t follow, 2. The app bugs out more than it should. 3. The App doesn’t show every vehicle that you put into a list: ex; I have a list of 346 cars, but I only count 180 or so that are actually visible in said list. Not helpful when I’m trying to document things, or create mini registries. Please address these things soon. ### 4/5 — Fix this *2023-02-03, version 1.9* i love this app, its great for keeping maintenance records and keeping track of cars you like. the app works fine i just wish there was a way to remove posts from lists instead of reporting them, you can only delete your own posts but i want to be able to remove mistakes without reporting them. ### 2/5 — Needs updated badly. *2022-09-13, version 1.9* The app hasn’t had a meaningful update in years. With the increased popularity (and presumably income) of the YouTube videos, the number of users has exploded. As such, this app needs updated. Suggestions: feed filters, PUSH NOTIFICATIONS, ability to set notifications for activity on certain cars, ability to edit posts and comments, ability to filter search my personal posts. Bugs: lists longer than 250 cars are not viewable, list search doesn’t work, iOS location chooses the closest business but leaves off the city/state so you end up with “Walmart” as the location unless you custom enter it every time, vehicle cover photos are usually wrong. The community is great. The idea is great. The app is not. It desperately needs help. UPDATE September 2022: Absolutely nothing has changed. In fact I stopped using it probably a year ago because even though it was fun, interesting, and cool at times, the bugs and awful user interface make it unbearable to use. The concept of this app is already kind of a novelty in my opinion, so if you want people to use it, you'd better make it usable. ### 1/5 — Zero Stars *2025-02-28, version 2024.06.01* VINwiki hypes itself as a better Carfax, promising a personal history for your car. In reality, it’s just a glorified MySpace profile where you manually enter your car’s details. 99% of vehicles have no history—just a blank page waiting for you to fill in. Instead of pulling real records, it relies on user-submitted data with zero verification, making it useless for buyers. Worse, it’s obviously designed to harvest vehicle data rather than provide anything useful. If you need an actual history report, stick with Carfax or AutoCheck. ⭐ 1/5 – Just a data trap. ⭐ ### 1/5 — Wow what a waste of time *2024-04-23, version 2023.06.01* App was presented to have a “CarFax” like wealth of information about cars. I searched 4 vins and only one could be found. Of the one that was found, the only info it had was a sales ad from 2017. If you like seeing pictures of cars posted by boomers that all say “Spotted on my way home,” this app is perfect for you. If you want to gain useful information about a car, this is not the spot for that. ### 1/5 — Garbage *2024-02-28, version 2023.06.01* This app is garbage. I've tried to register with two emails. Joined the app back in summer of 2019 as a 15 year old car enthusiast, now 7 years later I have loved being able to keep track of the thousands of cars I have spotted along with keeping track of the 30+ vehicles I have owned since. A few areas of criticism and things that could be improved. As someone who has posted thousands of individual vehicles I would love to have a personal search function to see only the vehicles I have posted personally. This would certainly save users time and drastically cut down on plate to vin look ups. Which brings me to my second point: as someone who posts hundreds of cars a week I would like to have unlimited plate look ups so that I can contribute as much as possible to cars history and the VINwiki platform and community at large.
