### 3/5 — An improvement over previous app but not perfect

*2026-04-04, version 4.2.11*

The app makes it easier to connect to dash cam WiFi (no need to jump back in forth in WiFi settings). However no matter what I tried the app failed to apply firmware update.

For me copying firmware update bin file to freshly formatted microSD card using my Mac computer is what ultimately worked to update firmware.

If they could improve this part it would have been 5 stars

### 1/5 — 1 Star – App is unreliable and makes the dash cam frustrating to use

*2026-04-01, version 4.2.11*

The Viofo app has been extremely disappointing, especially considering the cost of the dash cam. At first, I was able to connect to my A329S, but even then it was inconsistent. The app would often show nothing but a black screen instead of the live view, and the WiFi connection would randomly drop for no reason.

Now it’s gotten worse. My A329S won’t connect to the app at all. I’ve tried all the basics, including deleting and reinstalling the app, and it still refuses to connect.

For a dash cam in this price range, you’d expect a smooth, reliable app experience. Instead, the app feels unstable and unfinished, which takes away from what could otherwise be a solid product.

Until the app is fixed, it’s hard to recommend this system.

### 1/5 — Difficult to use

*2026-03-26, version 4.2.11*

Trying to connect and access files is hit and miss and once a connection is made, it will not disconnect and resume recording and all buttons on camera are inoperable until you unplug the camera, wait and plug back in.

### 4/5 — Great app, easy to use

*2026-03-25, version 4.2.11*

The app is great and easy to use! No crashes whatsoever and video quality is supreme. One thing that would make it a 5* star app would be to allow configuring the camera to connect to a known Wi-Fi such as when you’re at home, so that the app can be used from home Wi-Fi

### 2/5 — Stops showing live feed when connected to iphone

*2026-03-15, version 4.2.11*

I have the T130 which used to work. The last year The app does not show the live feed when you connect iPhone14.
It is recording but no live feed even after i downloaded firmware their website

### 1/5 — Supposedly good dashcam NOT!

*2026-03-11, version 4.2.11*

One of the worst apps I have ever seen, connects then disconnects and have to go through set up over and over again to be stuck in a setup loop that never allow you to actually get into the app, major stuff up buying this dash cam don’t do it get something else

### 1/5 — Pretty much renders the camera useless

*2026-03-10, version 4.2.11*

Takes forever to view/download videos should you get in an accident. Camera routinely disconnects mid download, and takes forever just to look at footage, never mind download. Huge waste of money

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2026-03-08, version 4.2.11*

It never wants to connect with my camera. It connects, then immediately disconnects on its own. CS says i must not have to right firmware. I have the latest. It’s just a POS app. Thankfully, the recording capabilities are great though. Just dont expect to retrieve the videos to your phone. You’ll need to take them off the SD card to your computer.

### 1/5 — Horrible app, great cameras

*2026-03-02, version 4.2.11*

Constant Wifi issues is just the start. It's clear to see where all the money goes into developing the cameras because there's absolutely no money being invested in developing this app. Such a great camera ruined by horrible tech. Get it together.

### 1/5 — Connection problems

*2026-02-20, version 4.2.10*

I just can’t connect to the camera. It keeps kicking out once I try to connect to the wifi. Very annoying

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2026-02-10, version 4.2.10*

The app was made by a 4 year old

### 4/5 — This is older VIOFO dash cam app works better than the new one overall.

*2026-01-23, version 4.2.10*

For reasons I can't understand, this older version of the VIOFO Dashcam app actually works better on my A329s three channel system then the latest greatest app. Although I do like having the ability to monitor my car's battery voltage with that new app anytime I want via the Bluetooth connection to my HK-6 wiring harness.

The primary advantage to this app over the newer one is the lack of latency when streaming live camera feeds from the dash cam unit to my iPhone 17 Pro Max. The feed is basically within a second or less of actual real time with this app as compared to the newer app which is generally between six and 12 seconds behind the actual real time events going on from the cameras. If you're actually looking at the app while you're sitting in an intersection it's unnerving to see the car still moving on the new apps live feed while you're sitting there totally stopped at the intersection.

Given… This older version isn't as cosmetically attractive as the newer app is but from a functionality standpoint I much prefer using this older app when I'm actually out in the field and driving with the dash cam system operational.

This app totally supports the latest 2.0 firmware for the A329s and also offers the identical settings section. So there's really no drawbacks to using this older app over the new one.

So while the latest version of the VIOFO Dashcam app does look nicer it's lag problems with live feed from the cameras is totally unacceptable and needs to be fixed ASAP

And while I have a three channel system both apps do not support three cameras via the voice command commands. Currently they only support the front and the rear camera there is no voice command support for the internal interior camera, which in my case is often the telephone photo facing camera. I hot swap that camera with the interior camera when I'm gonna park the car for an extended period of time because I preferred to monitor the inside of the car when in the dash cam system is in parking mode.

I do find it odd that despite having three channel systems now on offer from VIOFO they have not updated either of the apps to support a three camera system through voice command.

### 2/5 — Not very good

*2026-01-21, version 4.2.10*

The app is not very good. It’s like a 2015 app - would’ve been just ok 10 years ago. In 2026 it’s at the back of the pack.

### 1/5 — Does the developer even read these?

*2026-01-18, version 4.2.10*

Fix your app. There is NO setting to “allow access to wifi”. The camera will not connect to phone without this setting set to on. This app is terrible. Camera will not stay connected to phone for more than 30 seconds.

### 1/5 — Kauft was anderes

*2026-01-10, version 4.2.10*

Was machen die App Developer beruflich?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Absolute garbage

*2026-07-26, version 4.2.11*

This app is the definition of minimum effort, the player is absolutely horrible, controls are non-existent, you can’t protect the videos you watching, it’s what you get paying for Chinese garbage

### 1/5 — Completely unusable.

*2026-07-25, version 4.2.11*

You will never be able to retrieve a video over WiFi. The camera cannot maintain a connection for more than a few seconds tops and you’ll be booted out of the app before you ever see anything even resembling a preview. You’re almost better off carrying paper and pencils with you to sketch what you see on the road.

### 1/5 — App crashes randomly or freezes

*2026-07-17, version 4.2.11*

App crashes randomly or freezes. Is this really the best we can expect?

Software lets down otherwise very good hardware.

Firmware CANNOT be updated using this app!!!

### 1/5 — Extremely Subpar

*2026-06-13, version 4.2.11*

This is my first dash cam so I can’t be certain if all of them are like this, but VIOFO makes it extremely difficult to download any videos. They take a ridiculous amount of time to download a 3 minute video and then, once you’re nearly done downloading it, the dash cam automatically disconnects. It’s very unfriendly to users and this problem alone will make me choose another dash cam. Very disappointing considering that VIOFO fails at doing the one thing it’s supposed to do. Buy elsewhere.

### 1/5 — Poor design

*2026-06-06, version 4.2.11*

Can’t download any videos because the cam turns itself off while downloading. I made sure it was powered the whole time as well. Stupid

### 1/5 — OLD VERSION! BROKEN GARBAGE!

*2026-05-19, version 4.2.11*

DO NOT INSTAL!

### 1/5 — Junk

*2026-05-18, version 4.2.11*

Set up instructions simply do not work. The app is incredibly poorly designed.

### 1/5 — Cannot access sd card via wifi on iOS app. Only works on android app.

*2026-05-11, version 4.2.11*

Cannot access files on sd card after spending 10 minutes connecting to the wifi. Had to use my old android in order to access sd card via wifi.

### 1/5 — DOES NOT WORK AT ALL

*2026-05-01, version 4.2.11*

The app renders my dashcam USELESS unless I take out the SD card to get the footage off of it. Every single time I’ve tried to use it for the past YEAR+ it has not worked. When I open the app it says “connect camera” and then tells me to give it access to wifi/cell data in settings, so it opens my settings where it ALREADY HAS PERMISSIONS, and then as soon as I switch back to this app it goes back to the “connect camera” page. There is literally no way to get it to work

### 1/5 — Fail

*2026-04-02, version 4.2.11*

This app is very "glichy"..some days it will connect with no problem MOST times it doesn't connect...been trying for a month to get into the app to format disk but it doesn't connect no matter what I do...camera "great"...App SUCK!!!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Near perfect

*2026-06-01, version 4.2.11*

Not sure what other people complained about, I’m not all that tech savvy, But it worked fantastic for me.

### 5/5 — Seems to work great

*2026-05-28, version 4.2.11*

Just got my A229 installed today and loaded the app to adjust the settings. My first impressions are all very positive. I was able to adjust everything I needed once I learned the wifi connection process, which was pretty easy. Overall the app seems to do everything I need it to do!

### 5/5 — Works flawlessly

*2026-04-28, version 4.2.11*

Skill issue folks?

### 5/5 — Works for Viofo 139Pro

*2026-04-10, version 4.2.11*

I downloaded this app in order to use my Viofo 139Pro dashcam. Although the app is not titled Viofo “Dashcam,” it shows dashcam illustrations in its description. This app appears to be an older app, but it does support the Viofo 139Pro, and works quite well with it.

### 5/5 — Awesome app and company

*2026-02-12, version 4.2.10*

I've used three differen models of their dashcams and this same app with each of them: Never had an issue! Downloading footage is quick and changing settings is instant. I've had no issues with using both product or app. Even reaching out to product or customer support was alwaya very easy

### 5/5 — Very good

*2025-12-31, version 4.2.10*

Hello. Please make sure that the screen on the DVR is constantly working. It's very important for me to see it. Add this mode to the settings menu: 1 min, 3 min. and constantly.

### 5/5 — Works fine

*2025-10-20, version 4.2.9*

I don’t know what the other reviews are about, but if you follow the instructions and have CarPlay off, it works totally fine

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2025-09-14, version 4.2.9*

So easy I can download videos in under a minute to my phone

### 5/5 — Worried by reviews, works fine

*2025-08-23, version 4.2.9*

The really low rating on the app made me worry that it would be a horrible user experience, but this app works so much better than Garmin's. It's a little more simple and you have to connect to the cameras Wi-Fi in your phone settings instead of directly through the app, but otherwise I have been very happy with the functionality of this app

### 5/5 — Works great for 229 Pro

*2025-08-21, version 4.2.9*

Works as advertised for 229 Pro. The only hurdle I had to jump was turning off CarPlay in the phone settings so the WiFi signal wouldn’t keep switching to my car. Check for compatibility and look for vids showing how to use it.
