The Mileage Choice Program is a voluntary government-run program offering drivers of eligible vehicles an alternative way to pay highway use fees. Pay per mile driven instead of a flat annual fee at registration renewal. Drive less, pay less.
The device measures your driving distance, and the app provides a private, personal interface to view your trips, mileage, and driving scores.
 
Your Privacy is Protected:
Your driving scores and trip locations are completely private. They are not shared with third parties, not shared with government agencies, and do not impact your mileage payment. This data is for your eyes only.
 
Use the app as a personal safety tool to understand your driving patterns, or simply use it to submit your annual odometer reading—the choice is yours.

I enrolled in the Mileage Choice Program expecting a simple and straightforward process, but the app has been frustrating before I’ve even been able to start using the program.

I successfully enrolled, created an account, downloaded the app, and created a password. When I later tried to activate my account, the app repeatedly displayed “Something went wrong.” I tried logging in with the credentials I had already created, resetting my password, and even attempting to activate the account again. Nothing worked. The password reset option claims an email will be sent, but I never received one.

It’s 2026. Creating an account and logging into an app should not require troubleshooting, multiple failed attempts, and contacting customer service just to get started.

The Mileage Choice Program itself is a great concept, but the app and enrollment experience desperately need improvement. So far, it has been unnecessarily complicated, inconvenient, and a waste of time.

VERY UNRELIABLE, 100% waste of time to use. First, it is from a 3rd party vendor and uses a completely different password than the Mileage Choice Program website. Second and worse, the app FAILS to recognize previous activations, FAILS to support password reset. FAILS, FAIL, FAIL. The State of Virginia needs a new vendor if they require an app and also needs to ensure the website and app use the same authentication.

Will not take my login and allows me to change password but then again gives me a “something went wrong” suggests I then pretend I am a new user, but when I do that it wants the code I have been given…I don’t have a code!

I can’t login to the app despite several password resets. The app tells me to call a number if I still can’t login after reset, but the number is a DMV help line with endless hold times and I get disconnected every time it transfers (this is an ongoing problem with VA DMV in general). While I can login to the website fine, the ONLY way to upload the required odometer photo is through this app that doesn’t work, and the DMV will fine you for not uploading the photo. Do not use this app and do not sign up for MCP

Logging in with email and password - something went wrong! Change password and try again something went wrong! Rinse and repeat always with same result! Threats by text daily about uploading odometer reading! Response to email re problems - zero!!! Would give zero rating but can’t do that so gave it a one it doesn’t deserve. Now every month it says no mileage reauthenticate my vehicle. Done it so many times! Text threats but no response to any emails! Can’t believe my tax payer $ are paying for this bunch of rubbish!

lost my login. password reset failed even though other email from them arrives ok. had to call support.
then when i took the required trueup pic the app changed the pic to portrait even though landscape is required and it turned on the flash creating reflections. couple days later i get an email warning that i still owe them a pic. called support again and they admit i uploaded a pic but could not tell me why it wasnt working.

Stuck in a circular loop of having the app and customer support tell me to reset my password, but each time I reset the password I get the same error with the same instructions to reset my password. Useless.
