### 3/5 — Too Much Record Keeping

*2026-08-23, version 3.30.1*

I understand the basic tracking info and why you want it, BUT, for elder people it is a lot to have to record especially if you’re not phone savvy or don’t have a cell phone. Maybe you can ask for less record keeping or make some changes to this program if you are really wanting to help people!

### 4/5 — Help me Tremendously

*2026-08-01, version 3.29.0*

The Virta Program has been a god send to me in helping me control my type 2 diabetes! The app is easy to use and intuitive. My health coach has been positive and encouraging and supportive! I’ve list 15 pounds and lowered my A1C incredibly!

### 2/5 — Food logging is awful

*2026-07-31, version 3.29.0*

I like the idea of this app to help log my food and track what I’m doing however, the food log is terrible. When you give it a picture of a nutritional label. It frequently wants to assume you’re eating the entire container. If you try to adjust it to say 1 serving vs the 10 that are in the package the math is pretty much always wrong. I have even described a meal exactly the same way for two different meals and had it give me different numbers. The AI here clearly needs a lot more learning time before being released. I would much prefer the option to describe the nutrition information versus the food itself or enter the nutritional information directly from a label so it would at least match what I am seeing on the packaging. It would also be really good to have a “duplicate this item”type of button if you eat the same sort of things over and over. I like the “insights” bit that suggests healthier swaps - but since it can’t seem to get my number correct yo begin with not sure I trust it to make those assumptions.

### 3/5 — Great for Getting Started

*2026-05-18, version 3.23.0*

I was on the Virta program for several months. It was great in the beginning to get started on the keto diet. Structured, lots of data. You’re assigned a personal coach to assist as well.

However after the first few months, the support falls flat. You’re sent canned messages that seem more AI than human. When I had questions or concerns, it would sometimes take days to get a response. And good luck getting your coach on the phone after the initial conversation. Tried scheduling a call that kept getting cancelled last minute.

Once I had the basics of the diet down, google searches and conversations with my PCP became more helpful. So, it’s good to get started and get the basics, but loses its value quickly after that.

### 2/5 — Terrible food log

*2026-05-06, version 3.23.0*

The food logging is awful. Even with clear pictures, it can’t extract the protein, carbs & fat grams. Sometimes it defaults the serving size to the whole container; Sometimes to a single serving. If you try to change the serving from one servings to two servings or a different amount of servings, thae calculation of the nutritional information is always wrong. There is no way to manually override the system calculated information; you just have to start over & hope when you take your next picture of the label it gets the info right. IMO way too early to release it for user use. Needed more testing & updates before it was added to the app for people to use.

### 4/5 — Useful, smart, helpful

*2026-05-04, version 3.22.0*

The food app is so useful: take a picture of what you are going to eat or type in what you plan on eating and the app will tell you what to change to maintain your personal goals within seconds.

Starting in touch with your coach team is easy and very helpful and encouraging.

### 5/5 — Excellent Food Log and more

*2026-05-04, version 3.22.0*

I have lost weight and maintained it … and best part I feel great

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2026-05-03, version 3.22.0*

Since day one the team has been nothing but awesome. Caring about every worry I’ve had.
Answers in ways that make me feel comfortable. Encouraging me every step of the way. Reminding me that I’m doing a good job.
I love all the recipes. Easy to read. Simple to follow and most of they taste great. Simple way to track weight.
Tracking my progress had never been so simple.
I love the app. I love my team. I’m enjoying my journey.

### 3/5 — Some bugs….

*2026-04-30, version 3.22.0*

App can be a bit quirky/buggy at times. One bug is that the “All Time” option within personal log for your weight, does not display the correct values. The 7 day and 30 day logs (charts) work, but Not the “All Time” option. This needs to be fixed.

### 4/5 — App is fine

*2026-04-30, version 3.22.0*

The app is fine. When I joined Virta it did not have a food logger built into it, so I found my own food logger. I like my second app for food logging. I’m sorry that Virta feels the need to build their AI database, but nagging current users who found their own solutions isn’t the way. I’m getting more and more disgusted with every time I open the app I’m being told I need to use their stupid food logging.

### 5/5 — Awesome Life Style

*2026-04-29, version 3.22.0*

My coach helps me to guide me to my new life. She teaches me ways to enjoy food, stay healthy, lose weight and not feel hungry.

### 2/5 — App isn’t the problem, the company is

*2026-03-02, version 3.18.0*

They’re slow to respond to any requests and the program is Keto simplistic, do not recommend

### 5/5 — Excellent Support Tool

*2026-02-28, version 3.18.0*

The app allows me to log food and other metrics, and from what I can tell, the AI algorithm is mostly smart, and I as the human do the quality check and save my data. There are brief, informative articles and videos that are “bite size” and are encouraging nutritional change. I love it.

For some detractors giving lower reviews, I have read them and the root cause of the issue is not the app itself, but of an employer requirement to use the app.

This program works if you want to be using it. It may be less effective if someone feels forced to use it.

### 2/5 — Hard to track weight loss

*2026-02-22, version 3.17.0*

No longer easy to view and compare my weight loss. I don’t want to see a weekly chart, I prefer to see my weight loss as number. Now I have to scroll through days to view it. I’ll have to use a different app to that accommodate like my fitness pal.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App fail Boo

*2026-07-02, version 3.26.0*

The only way to order the start kit appears to be through the app.

Will the app take my address? Nope, it won’t.

Off to a great start Virta!

### 1/5 — If you have another option take it

*2026-06-20, version 3.26.0*

This company doesn’t listen to their patients hardly at all. They Make you go up in doses even against ur own providers recommendation and your own decision not to. Have to follow their own guidelines when it comes to glp1 and make u max out your dose. They don’t respond frequently at all. And the app doesn’t even track calories for you. They don’t give a food plan just many options and not to much guidance. If my insurance covered my glp1 without the virta health dr I wouldn’t be using them.

### 1/5 — Martha

*2026-05-14, version 3.23.0*

Really bad experience, I do not like it , they didn’t want to prescribe the 3 months supply and honestly it doesn’t make any sense

### 1/5 — Not useful

*2026-05-12, version 3.23.0*

This app doesn’t do anything well. I use the highly functional MyNetDiary app by choice and this app only because required by insurance. It isn’t useful for setting or tracking calories, macros, weight, goals or progress. The advice it gives is not relevant to my situation. The Virta medication management is just nurses using AI to prescribe medication. I used to have a fully trained doctor and nutritionist overseeing my care, now I just have AI and prescribers I’ve never seen virtually or in person.

### 1/5 — Nothing good to say

*2026-04-20, version 3.21.0*

They make you jump through 100 hoops. Only do extreme keto. Aren’t helpful and wasted my time! It took several months of getting started then they gave me the hardest time. Really don’t recommend

### 1/5 — Virta is a scam

*2026-03-19, version 3.19.0*

It is a forced keto diet run by people who have little to no medical knowledge

### 1/5 — Intrusive

*2026-02-20, version 3.17.0*

Insurance provider moved to using Virta in order to qualify for glp1 treatment. I absolutely hate it. I feel like I’m being policed with every lifestyle choice I make in order to obtain glp1s. It forces a keto diet. Tried it, wasn’t able to achieve sustained weight loss. Did I mention I hate it.

### 1/5 — This app is pointless

*2026-02-17, version 3.17.0*

In its current state this app is basically useless. You can’t track food in it requiring another app, most of which have additional fees to be functional. There isn’t much information on the actual plan or why you’re given the macronutrients you are. Mine was set to 30g carbs and 14g protein per day, which is not reasonable even on a very aggressive plan, which I did not request. They need to figure their stuff out and put a lot of effort into making this app helpful and beneficial.

### 1/5 — Useless—avoid if you can

*2026-02-17, version 3.17.0*

I have to use Virta and log my weight once a week to be able to get my insurance company Optum to pay for my Zepbound every month. This company is for people who are morbidly obese and have diabetes and they force you to weigh in every day, measure your ketones by poking yourself and bleeding and forcing you to eat a fat laden and meat-centric diet. I’m not obese, I don’t have diabetes and I’m a vegan so needless to say I’m frustrated. And this app is a total piece of garbage. It recommends you eat the exact same meal everyday and even though I put in I’m vegan, it recommended a recipe with shrimp! Wtf! The scale takes about 5 mins to sync your weight and it displays 5lbs heavier than my home scale and 10lbs heavier than my doctor’s scale. Finally, I keep getting prompted to schedule my first mtg with a health coach which I already met with 3 different health coaches. What would be helpful would be to get prompted to weigh in so you don’t lose your glp1 prescription but of course it doesn’t do that. This company needs to get its act together and businesses who are paying extra money for this for their employees need to know they’re getting scammed. It’s not at all a helpful or healthful program.

### 1/5 — App is broken

*2026-02-03, version 3.16.0*

Recipes link to community section that does not exist. The app does update status when you complete an action like order starter kit. Some videos play others do not and all you get from support is excuses. This frustration should not be pushed on employees via insurance.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Keeping track

*2026-08-01, version 3.29.0*

Questions answered after meter test.

### 5/5 — Life changing

*2026-07-29, version 3.29.0*

This program is life changing! In the best way possible. I tell people about it all the time. It has taught me the way I need to eat to improve my health. It’s the food I love just in the right combinations.

### 5/5 — Helpful tool

*2026-07-10, version 3.27.0*

The portal is easy to navigate and very helpful in following through on whatever health goals you may have.

### 5/5 — Wonderful

*2026-07-08, version 3.27.0*

Check to see if it’s covered by your insurance. My A1C is down 5.9 from 7.9 in six months. Type 2 Diabetes is no joke, fight it!

### 5/5 — Incredible!

*2026-06-14, version 3.25.0*

Virta Health is an incredible tool to help on your weight loss and health journey. The app makes it easy to log food, weight, and other metrics. It gives you a weekly detailed report as well access to an extremely responsive coaching staff. I am personally closing in on 60 pounds lost. I recommend you at least try this program.

### 5/5 — Staying Power

*2026-06-02, version 3.24.0*

I’ve never tracked on an app as consistently as this. I get the right amount of visual, functional, and engaging content from its different sections. I’ve used recipes, coaches chat and A1 and some of the journey steps (but that was mostly in the beginning). The new updates with food tracking and reworking their front page shows the team is interested in feedback and adapts to clients needs. Highly recommend.

### 5/5 — Partner you need

*2026-05-25, version 3.24.0*

Everything about the Virta ecosystem works perfectly. Still struggling on a daily basis, but it’s great to know that I’ve got a coach an app and tons of information recipe and community that help.

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2026-05-23, version 3.24.0*

Amazing app

### 5/5 — Amazing App

The food tracker has been very helpful. Great tool
